PES 2014 Discussion Thread

Had an email that says I've been picked to host a PES 2014 house party, I've got to host it between the 13th and 15th of September.

Anyone know if you get to keep the game they post to you for the party afterwards?

Noice. What time should I be there:))

How would dynamic weather be implemented when the time of matches we play generally vary from 10 to 30 mins. I mean wouldn't we literally see the lighting change while playing ? Or maybe they could find a way to scale the lighting variation in relation the duration of matches. Each matches (10,15, 30 mins etc etc ...) would have its own calculation.
The next gen consoles could handle that no ?

When I stop and think that we were supposed to be playing the Demo by now... it makes me wanna plant C4 explosives in Konami's office... LOL.

Would be a nice feature especially over a 20+ minute game. I assume it would be scaled like tyre wear in racing games. This feature will come at some point this generation as I think the PS4 & PCs will be more than capable of handling it.

Absolutely, the consoles and pc's powers aren't in question. Just the way it's implemented. Maybe they could do unlock only for long duration matches like say the 20+ min you mentioned.Anything below that would use the classic weather system.

Scaling it sounds right because during a match you only see the sky for short periods at one time.

I think the main cool factor would be that the weather would change like occasionally a match would start with light rain then later in the match it becomes heavy rain that lashes down on the pitch then this has an effect on the gameplay as the ball bogs down more and passing becomes more challenging. Or some matches start with no rain at all then it starts raining later in the match.

It would definitely add realism and be a cool addition to the game. It'd be the ballboys on FIFA 14 next gen, a nice thing to include in the game while its absence isn't really that detrimental.

Codemasters did it with F1 2010/2011/2012, so why can't KONAMI do it with PES? ;)

Not like it's rocket science now.

Good point. Konami have something of a captive audience on the PC this year. This decision could prove to be a bit of a fuck up.

I don't think so James. If the game does turn out to be of a reasonable standard , then word of mouth should provide a boost to sales as will coverage via social networking sites and youtube.

I don't think the game will be perfect. No game ever is and I am concerned by some of the AI awareness and if they have decided to speed it up to cater for the FIFA reviewers.

Nonetheless the sense of entitlement and whining on WENB is something to behold. For example over the lack of a cover star.

Yes Konami have made some mistakes in their schedule but there is probably some issue behind the scenes regarding it.

Fingers crossed they'll learn from it and do better next year. All these veiled threats I will refuse to buy or I will pirate it are silly.

It is your choice and probably some of Konami's decisions will put off some and it is one's own free will but those other declarations will hardly help either in the long term.

We as football gamers need PES to remain in the market rather than be saddled with one game only each year.

Does anybody have an idea when there will be news about game modes or any other news except the new gameplay features ?
I'm trying to find out if they will have a press conference at Gamescom but can't find any info about that.

Ill be hosting one of those PES 2014 parties. september 13-15

If any of you guys live near buckinghamshire or oxford areas or dont mind a travel I'll happily have guys. I have a student house to no rules!!!!

I also may have one as I go back to london on september 14 so I may have another one then. So if your free on that date and live near london also get involved.

Just drop me a PM if your interested.

Pique gets away with a tackle from behind and off the ball as well..... :P

There also seem to be complaints about some of the faces. Which look understandable. I hope/expect they are working on the faces in this build up to release.

What would be nice is DLC in the form of stadia for the leagues. I think ever since PES2008 the lack of stadiums does cause a loss of immersion to an extent. However whether Konami can secure licenses for these is a moot point given EA's involvement and the sums of money involved.

It seems modders have been unable to keep up in this facet of add ons. For PES6 there were some 1000 or more stadiums made for example.

Simbin implemented that better in GTR2. Dependent on conditions you would start to find it harder and harder to control the car. You would downshift more into corners and not take the most favourable line and your lap times would start to increase.

Well he does love to prettify himself doesn't he James ? Don't know what the Beat would have made of it down Portman Road......;)

One of our greatest players yet he's living in a council house in Ipswich.

He can be heard doing an ITFC football show on Radio Suffolk these days. Lovely bloke.

You need to play rFactor 2. Dynamic weather and time of day, drying lines etc....
