PES 2014 Discussion Thread

What's happening with this game is very strange. During last E3, we saw awesome gameplay footage, and the average (and justified) opinion was "This year is the good one".

Then Asim warned us with his impressions, saying the July preview code had some "dejà-vu" moments from PES 2013. And now Konami releases some PR videos, and man they look very poor gameplay-wise compared to E3. Even worse, they kind of confirm Asim's fears. Now I'm remembering the PC requirements and I think myself "How in Earth they can be the same as PES 2013, if the game is supposed to be an overhaul, including a whole new engine, and Havok?"

Seriously, what's happening?

Maybe Konami lost the E3 code and had to update PES 2013:CONFUSE:

I don't think we should take much from these information videos. They're just filler material until Gamescom arrives. Poor decision to release them so close to the demo and launch though as they're not very impressive even though the features thy're trying to sell might be.

Relax!!! Those video have poor quality if You compare it to nice colour videos from E3. It's all about quality.

Disregarding the visual quality of the videos, in terms of gameplay and overall quality of animations, it goes:

This week's gameplay vids < E3 vids < Gk glitch vid. A PR fail is exponentially more likely than a gameplay change, imho. Who else agrees?

can everybody relax please

the NEW video released TODAY is obviously a build from 2 MONTHS ago because the pitch is slightly darker

listen to detective xavi please

Pitch colour is only one factor that I used and is the least of them. Look at the ANIMATION difference in the videos. THAT speaks far louder than any colour correction. SURELY.

it speaks loudly, but not in favour of what you say

old videos they have good animations but poor delay and response (look at e3 video and watch EVERY pass, the passer delays for 1 second after passing). now in new videos those animations are gone, and so is the delay. the newer builds therefore look worse.

You misread completely. NEWER VIDEOS can be from OLDER BUILDS? UNDERSTAND? Adam EXPLICITLY said that NEW animations were ADDED after E3(Can't be arsed to find the Tweet). How then does your theory hold water?

Poor quality video with too fast framerate in my opinion.

This! It doesn't look like choppy animations as much as choppy framerate due to YT rendering. Finally, some objectivity dammit. lol

so you imply this new video may be older code than TWO MONTHS AGO AT E3??

sick of reading you spread misinformation like the it's the truth

YES!! I am not implying that. I am stating it plainly. YOU are so one-sided and close-minded that you do not even give this approach to my hypothesis the light of day. That is your error. You could be completely wrong or completely right. Give yourself a chance to be either. I never said definitely that it was true. It's a hypothesis. It's therefore NOT misinformation. Chill.

Isn't it chaotic in here as well? People love to be extreme.

AI and keepers looked terrible because they weren't showcasing AI and keepers. The real problem with these videos is the massive downgrade on the animation quality, players are skating all over the place, transitions look completely unnatural and the inerthia/momentum we saw in previous videos is nowhere to be seen.

oh so i;m the one who is one sided? please go back to my posts and find these one-sided posts

as for you:
These vids could've been prepared months ago ,and probably were.
Quote:
It's almost certainly NOT from a later build than the build the Gk glitch was taken from
Quote:
They don't look like they are as polished as even the E3 build, which further aids my hypothesis.
Quote:
It is very likely that the most recent 'Youtube vids' are from a much EARLIER build than the 'first'/E3 vids. *sigh..

yes. i can see what you are like

You DO understand what words such as 'could've','probably' 'almost' and 'likely' MEAN right? On the other hand, you seem TO KNOW things that you simply cannot prove. What is your evidence for thinking that the new vid uses new code? The date uploaded? lol. I feel bad if you do not understand the role of hypothesis. I'm done engaging you, sorry. ANYWAY, here is the definitively VAGUE answer from the horse's mouth:

xiaoyuan ‏@xiaoyuanpes 42m
@Adam_Bhatti The third video is poor:( E3 gameplay video is better!

Adam Bhatti ‏@Adam_Bhatti 28m
@xiaoyuanpes video is taken from code based around that time.

He did warn us didn't he.

Again, feedback, gotta love it.

Why show videos of older build at all then? You ruin great impression you have built doing so.

KONAMI is very bad at maintaining people and crowd happy. If you have to release something, it better be good. Half assed effort like the video above, doesn't help. In fact you might have just lost few customers...

About pitch color, ever heard of video editing software? ;) Saturation + vibrance. Voila :P.

Lads, this is basically definite evidence that this GK GLITCH video YouTube - Worst defensive moment in PES ever? (NOTE: Not final game code) is a NEWER CODE than the one showed in the E3/This weeks videos. Bear in mind that the linked video is from a RECENT PAX event in Australia weeks after E3.Try gainsaying the facts.
This video's animations are actually better, imho, than the ones from the E3 videos.
Discussion Over (UNLESS ADAM just lied to us)!

Please don't tell me you're buying the "old code" talk. The reason it all looks so different is precisely because this is post-community-feedback code.

is impossible not to be pessimistic, konami does no effort to change that, an example .. last 6 years

I draw much attention because it has such low requirements

Are you for real? So, you mean to tell me that Konami has been sitting on 4 or 5 videos since before E3 and is only releasing them now? Or that a code based around the E3 build time looks massively inferior?

Is anyone actually falling for this nonsense?

Maybe this videos are not from the actual game :D maybe thay are just rendering from the engine.. I don't have other explain for this situations ,they are absolutist identical
Actually the answer is pretty simple: It's a replay file. They just changed the team IDs in that file to the brazilian teams. The same thing happens if you save a replay in PES 2013, then edit the teams and watch the replay again.

Anderson don't tell me You are buying that videos from E3 was superb compere to the latest because Konami made mistakes and cut a lot new animations from E3.

That is exactly how Konami would address responsiveness issues, by trimming down animations.
Don't fall for Adam's bullshit, have some sense.

Mistakes? They were done intentionally because they were asked for those changes.

Same as every year.

It SEEMS as though animations were added and not cut, when considering the GK video(which is confirmed to be from a newer code). My last post should've cleared that up. Gutted that it hasn't.

exactly. i this code was supposedly from e3 time then why does it looks so much worse

B/c 'around that time' COULD mean slightly before that time.
