PES 2014 Discussion Thread

Just came home from work and all the good stuff already happened. Didn't expect to see widecam-gameplay-video before gamescom, a nice surprise.

The trailer didn't do anything for me but I liked the live-on-stage playing in southamerica. Finally we get some awesome varied animation. The only downside I saw was that the players glided a lot, so no proper footplanting implemented, I hope that can be improved for final release.

AI was of course very basic at display at this point. Liked the ballphysics, I hope they really do without attached strings.

Liked to see customisable camera-angles.

They glide? doesnt look like it to me, what I suspect is that the image appears brighter than normal so you cant really see the feet properly with shadows etc so it kinda gives the impression that the players 'float' around and dont touch the grass.

Yeah, look's like the game is really to have for current gen consoles ? The entry cutsceens in the tunnel was ruining lie.. 5 fps

Has been that way for years with PES, especially the tunnel scenes.

I'll be getting it on PC regardless as it's basically a next gen game for all intensive purposes, and is the groundwork for whatever we'll get next year on PS4/Xbox One.

I just watched that producer playing game, well after that big FOX engine hype massage this year I must say i dont know what to think, it didnt take my breath away as I supposed it will .

All looking very nice.

Konami presented everything well for once.

Fox Engine has done what it was supposed to do with improved graphics and realism in terms of biomechanics.

AI is harder to gauge but also looks to have been improved.

All in all I am excited by the prospect of the forthcoming game and will get it even if there is no league mode.

Although if Konami have been listening to players requests then they will reintroduce it.

Has the Argentine league been licensed as yet ?

The one difficulty will be for the modding community on PC. It might take some time to break the code and create mods of an equal quality in terms of the graphics that the Fox Engine has shown.

Looking forward to the demo and hopefully they will not listen to some of the nonsensical requests that have turned what was a promising game at the demo stage into a watered down retail product.

A very positive aspect: the AI tries to maintain ball possession; the CPU players pass backwards every time they're under pressure (including long passes), and one time they even passed to the goalkeeper.
Now, Konami should hire someone who knows how to play the game to demonstrate it. This would make it look even more impressive.
Yeah, I saw that, too. It was amazing. For a few seconds, I actually thought that Masuda (Bayern in red kits) was playing against human opponent (Bayern in white kits). CPU actually was playing smart possession football with fair number of logical back passes! Moreover, I really think that this was on professional difficulty or even lower difficulty!

Another thing, I saw Masuda made few stupid runs with fullbacks (to CMF position), but CB and DMF had covered gaps very quickly. After he switched from Alaba to another player (I think Robben) formation went back to default shape in a few seconds!

This is a very good news, in my opinion.

Didn't see any gliding. At all.

Just watched the second live-e3-on-stage-play of PES 2014 and didn't notice the gliding there either. Strange, it was so prominent to me in that south-america-stageplay.

That second-play-video in daylight looks and plays awesome imho. Great animation, good ball-physics, even the CPU-AI wasn't too shabby, actually playing a bit human-like and trying to keep possession, so all in all imho it's a dream come true!

And imho it crushes so far what EA showed of Fifa 14, current- and next-gen!

fucksakes i missed it. always missed these bloody e3 shit because of time difference, you lucky sods who dont work a 9 to 5 job are fucking lucky

Well I worked for 10 hours and yet I watched it after work, just skip back to 1 hour 10 minutes on that e3-video and enjoy!

How can you produce or work on a game and still play it badly ? It makes no sense to me

It makes perfect sense, developers don't have to be good gamers themselves to create something awesome, and often developers simply don't have the time to play, they work usually 12-16 hours a day, coding and designing.

Yup, he was a lead designer for PES 2013 as well. I think he just holding back, he knew there wasn't lot of time for him to demonstrating things.

And by the way, you should convince Redcafe fellow to convert to PES 2014 this year. Feels like there's stigma there, no matter how much the game improves it will always end up as second fiddle to FIFA.

Passing back to keeper. King is back, men.

We mustn't be premature. The Hype Express has pulled in to the station and many of us have decided to board it hopefully to even brighter destinations in the years to come.

Let's say the King is ambling back towards his throne...... :))

From earlier in this thread....

Make of that what you will.

Thanks a lot mate. Mmmmm not much. ;) Until this is in black and white on Konami headed paper or comes from one of the development team I guess we will have to wait.

It would be a logical step in cementing the hold PES has in South America.

Perhaps the mafioso Grondona is still haggling over the contract..... Wouldn't put it past him...... :P

Tbh, I'm not much to convince people.I'm about letting them play whatever suits them the most, I feel no particular allegiances to either companies.Just hope they deliver good games.
Redcafe have acknowledged the jump in quality in terms of gfx and animations but like most gamers, wait for demos etc etc ...

Keep up the missionary work. Some will still refuse blindly to acknowledge any changes but keep persisting and perhaps more people will see fit to come to the promised land.......:))
