Ok, tried the new patch. All that on PC.

Have to say I'm pleasantly surprised, as many things are indeed much better than before:

+ Response is instant now. Helps goalkeepers greatly.
+ Defensive AI is improved - now you can defend, and if you do it properly, you get rewarded. Before very often you could feel AI decides everything and you can merely watch. I would say defensive side got some aid and now, in 1.07, it is easier to defend then to attack. That's how it should be.
+ Menu speed faster.

What I didn't like:

- I know personal experiences on this differs radicaly, but for me speed is faster now. Probably because of increased responsiviness. On 0 now it's like a fast forward. On -1 in the beginning it felt too clumsy, but considering that response is great now, after some time you see how realisticaly the game flows.
- Got 4 goals from near post crosses in one game. Unbelievable weak spot! However, now, since defending is more responsive I feel I can learn how to deal with it.

Your overdrive theory doesn't apply to my version of PES 2014.

You must own a special and unique "Ipswich69" version of the game then...

In my experience thus far the gameplay is more responsive with no increase in game speed on the 0 setting. In fact, if I had to put money on it I'd say it's slightly slower.

I've just played a half season of ML on XBOX360 and the gamespeed is definitely faster. It's roughly as much as -1 in this patch being equal to 0 in the previous patches.

AI seems improved across the board, the opponents play a more varied game but they aren't particularly effective on a general level. It's still dependent on match importance rather than actual opponent whether the match will be hard to win or not, which is utterly pathetic in my opinion. My team in good shape across the board got tore a new arsehole against WBA in the FA Cup while I totally tore Chelsea a new one in the league just before and Manchester City right after. I rotate sensibly so my team is generally in good shape (in which I mainly mean heart).

I've seen a few weak keeper interactions but they're fine for the most part. Near post is their achilles heel, which has been mentioned before by a few on this forum. Shot effectiveness from all ranges is improved vastly. I've scored several screamers from outside the box and most shots from inside the box is a sure sitter if you manage to not put it directly at the keeper. Dribbling is perhaps a bit overpowered... I've managed many raids including a Maradona vs England copy with Huddlestone against Manchester City which looked quite ridiculous to say the least.

BAL seems a lot better as well if you disregard the fact that game speed is bang on frantic from the start. This usually happened once your player hit 75 or 80 rating before. I don't know if the speed will increase further as your player gets better, if it does then this mode is a lost cause as it will be football on meth. The AI seems to want to win duels again and they aren't quite as dumb as before which is mostly noticeable by the fact that they seem to be aware of incoming opponents when on the ball for the most part. I've not seen a single keeper mistake in BAL, but I've hardly seen a decent cross either...

---------

All this tested with Hull City, patch 1.07, homemade OF and no mods of any kind. My BAL team also became Hull by coincidence. My newly made BAL player became exceptionally craptastic with the new patch but that may be just bad luck. Only Balance at 70 as highest stat and the rest in the 50's and 60's. BAL is tested on PC if that's relevant. No mods there either.

Just 11 games into a new season on master league with the new patch.
a few things I've noticed
Game is way faster I played man.u and it was crazy fast, also after 11 games the cpu has only committed 1 foul :(
keepers are still palming it in, had 3 in 1 game

Also,

+ passing has been tweaked. Now with 1 bar it is more difficult and I need to concentrate more when trying to make a precise pass. I think that's great, because before 1 bar was a bit too easy, leading to ping-pong passing, while 0 bar was insanely dificult.

I play on xbox360 and I already loved PES 2014 version patch 1.04 after deleting all dlcs.

So I feared that patching to 1.06 (that's the version we got on xbox360) things might change that might destroy things I loved. After all how would one downgrade to patch 1.04 (downgrading to 1.0 is possible though)?

But then my curiosity was bigger than my fear and I updated it yesterday and played a few 30 min-matches in the spanish league.

Changes I noticed, on top-player, gamespeed -1, zerobar, manual shooting:

1. It's a bit faster than before.
2. Responsiveness is a bit better.
3. Shooting feels a bit better.
4. Ball flies with more realistic speed.
5. CPU-AI plays a bit more varied.
6. CPU AI aren't as easily outdribbled with merely closecontrol anymore.

What imho didn't change at all:

7. Goalkeeper is as awful as ever with nearpost threats. But even more frustrating is that the goalkeeper still doesn't know what to do when unexpected things happen. For example a shot comes in and the goalkeeper dives and the ball hits one of the posts and then lies there on the ground in front of him. The goalkeeper stands up and then doesn't know what to do with the ball on the ground, he thinks a bit, and then he decides to make that move he uses when trying to deal with low shots, putting out his legs against the ball. LOL! Instead of jumping on the ball with both hands around it. Of course it resulted in a goal.

Will have to play more matches to find out more.

First game with new patch, the cpu punts a long ball clear towards the centre circle. No danger to me whatsoever as my CB jogs up to the loose ball. But no, he walks right through the ball as if it's not there and then, rather than turn round and collect the ball (which is what I'm now pressing on the controller), he picks up speed and sprints forward, away from the ball - completely the opposite of what I pressed!! This leaves a cpu attacker to walk unchallenged onto the ball and with a clear 40 yard run on my goal.

Turned it off. Goodbye PES14 - maybe try you again in PES15.

You still won't like the shooting though Jim. I don't think it can be fixed. Dribbling is unfuckinbelievable though beat 3 players with Insigne

Yeah, I thought so bud. I don't feel that is something that can be 'patched'. It seems too 'set in stone' for a general fix. Or at least, that has always been my fear. :(

Noticed that too.

They changed something with the crossing into the box on manual setting too. I use to be able to pull back on the stick when crossing into the box. Now when I do it the player kicks the ball out of play, unless I use 1 bar passing.

Google Translator...

I loved that Konami had this idea on PES 2015.
Use the turf field to be spent and with many holes, only in ML mode.
After the club year after year, should buy this box in "X" Euros or buy the whole field "X" Euros. I think with this game was over a space of royalty, both inside and outside the field of play.
The more the football field is damaged, the more likely the game gets complicated.
What do you think?

80x80 = 120 Euros. :))

I think they should focus on getting the fundamentals and simple things right 1st until adding fancy advertising features like heart and real time pro pitch dynamic destruction.

Just dropping in to share my thoughts on this version that I recently purchased. Mind you, I am a veteran of this game going back to it's early days. I have to tell you, I am having a full blown enjoyment playing this version. I love the physical play, freedom on passes, shooting, jostle, photo realistic graphics, player ID's, and player momentum. It mimics real life more than it doesn't. This game, when mastered in every area and used properly on the pitch, at its core, still does an amazing job at simulating real futbol, unlike any other game out there.

Heading powerful headers is still there as it was in past versions, however this time you have to press the shoot button twice, once for power and another for timing the jump and making contact. It takes a while to get used to but once perfected in training, it is a beautiful thing to execute and admire in-game. This same "double button tap" concept applies for first time volleys as well. Once tap for power, another for exectution. Works great once mastered and feels just right in my opionion.

Shooting is another area that although difficult, once mastered feels satisfying and makes perfect sense. I can still score long range shots with the right player depending on the situation, time, and space I have on the ball. Just like real life. All is well in the (basic) shooting department for me. I do not recommend the (Advance) shooting.

Justling and slide tackles feel perfect to me, especially when timed correctly. I can't tell you how many times I've made dramatic last second slide tackle saves from the strikers feet with my sweeper. I can't say enough about this area and how important it is when used properly. The same applies when holding a defender with the right stick using a strong CF, turning with the ball, and blasting a shot over the keepers shoulders. What satisfaction it is to pull this off at the right time!

The only negative I have for this game is the GK's. It varies, but sometimes the GK's allow some awful near post goals where in their attempt to push the ball to the sides, end up pushing it into the side netting of their own goal. This happends on some occassions, however it's still there, and after the patch, I was hoping for it to be comletely eradicated. The only way around this problem is to switch your cursor to manual goalie if you are that good. Here's to hoping for another patch to fix this.

All in all, I am enjoying this game to no end. I've stayed up through the late hours playing this beauty jumping off my couch and screaming when pulling off great goals, manual GK saves, clean cut through balls, last second tackles, one-wo combos, jostling, holding a defender off, R2 curlers, one on one finesse finishing, powerful and low headers, dribbles, and PK's. It all feels just right for me and at times breath taking.

PES has not left me, it still has that magic.

I haven't touched the game in months. Played it with the new patch and it feels like a different game, very enjoyable not the irritating mess it was before.
Response and awareness has improved and you're allowed slide tackle without giving away a free kick every time.
The scripting is more subtle, only notice it if they pass through the middle and your players just can't seem to reach them and sometimes you can't switch to the player nearest to their attacker, quite like pes 2013 in that regard.
I think the goalies have improved and the attacking moves from the cpu are more varied. A high line in defence is suicidal.
Overall a far better game than it was in my opinion.

Still a mess in the middle when you center the ball many times.

Still can't enjoy the game, even after the latest patch. So i'm gonna wait pes 2015 on nextgen consoles.

Fingers crossed for something really good!

Suppose so, you loved it a few days ago, I'll probably feel the same as you in a couple of days, the biggest problem for me is the speed which leads to a goalfest every match.
Prefer an Italian style 1-0 chess match to be honest!

Agreed, it's still a bit too easy to shoot goals: The defense-AI is still not good enough and the goalkeeper is pretty awful, which combined results in easy goals.

If defense and goalkeeper would be more realistic it would be more satisfactory to score goals.

And strange thing, with patch 1.06 I find the players to be a bit too responsive.

I'm a bit ambivalent regarding the latest patch. The speed increase is killing it somewhat for me, and the -1 and -2 settings has some adverse effects on physics in my opinion.

It's definitely better than before though... it seems to me that Konami doesn't quite know their own beast.

I agree, I play on -1 and its still way too fast which is a shame because there's a lot to be excited about with this patch.

Some of the matches I've played the build up play has been brilliant, very realistic I don't know why it has to end with 4-3 3-3 scorelines most of the time.

If it was set to the pace of pes 13 it would have been great!

I dont know, yesterday I wrote that it is too fast, much faster than before the patch. Was playing on -1.

Surprise surprise. Its PES, so speed is as predictable as weather after one year. Today played again, and the speed on 0 looked normal, like before the patch. Did not change a setting. Any. :COAT:

I mean, that speed is still unrealisticaly high, but the thing Zero mentioned is there: on -1 you can easily see player movement and physics being deliberatly slowed down. So, before the patch I prefered to play on 0 with Speed and Explosive power stats decreased (by -15 and -10 respectively), so I used to get slower general speed, without loosing fluency in movement.

I think I will go this way also with 1.07.

My BAL player at 56 Explosive Power does feel very realistic if you look away from the fact that everyone else is quicker off the mark. The problem is that Mertesacker and Huddlestone probably should be below 40 in terms of acceleration but their agility should be in the 65-70 area.

The speed of the game changes dependant on the stadium and even time of day. It has throughout all on the incarnations of the game since the move to the PS3 and XBOX 360

As someone who used to tweak the game to get it play how I felt it should, this has been infuriating as what seems perfect on one pitch is completely different on another. I think its down to the memory that is needed to process what is going on in the stadium.

The fastest stadium seems to be the San Siro. From what I can remember, the Juventus stadium is one of the slow ones. This is also made worse by the fact that for some reason, in the last few years konami have given us slightly less responsive players in the master league to exhibition mode and then they have added to furter random factor into it all with the heart system.

The game will feel significantly faster if your players have higher heart levels
