So the game just told me the datapack was broken. After downloading 30% of it. Think I'll just get it later, the gameplay update is all in the patch, right?

Yes. Gameplay changes are only in the patch. Btw my fist DLC download was broken too. I tried it again and it works this time. So you may just try it again too. Good luck!

Updated - no issues with faces anf option file. Hamsik looks great. Loved th game i played against juve. They passed the ball around nicely and didnt try route 1 even going back to build up play...this makes me happy

Awareness is definitely improved. Defending and player switching as well.. Much better. HOWEVER. Keepers are still woeful and chip shots are a goal 9/10 times. Try chipping the goalie in training. Easy as.

Now waiting to play online. This will decide if pes 2014 gets a look in the rest of the year or not cos playing against the CPU to me is boring as....

I've loaded the game on my ps3 but I've not been asked for the patch update, how can I install the patch? It is integrated along with DP2?
Tks

Normally you will be ask to download the patch after you start the game. It's a separate download and not included in dlc2. Start again and make sure you're online.

Ok. Had my first game online. The positives are that it almost felt like an offline game! Much improved almost no lag. Awesome

The negatives was that it took about 3 minutes toactually begin the game after the game plan was all sorted. Might be due to the data pack. Also you can now choose camera type but you cannot customise it like you can offline. No idea why. Thats Konami for you.

Updated xbox360 version from 1,00 to 1.04 and eventhough xbox360-version was already smooth and responsive the patch improved in those aspects even more.

Awareness is also better though still not perfect.

Overall after the patch the game feels more polished and more finished, goalkeeper seems also better, shooting is more convincing, but I haven't yet been able to put that zip and drive onto the ball that players can do in real life.

The good thing is that cheating seems pretty non-existing.

But the biggest remaining problems are:

a) the referees still don't see many fouls.

and

b) there seems to be no cheating, which is great, but the AI is unfortunately not challenging and varied enough. Most attacks are opened up through the wings, followed by a cross or lowpass or through lobpass/throughpass down the middle. A bit repetitive for my taste.

Game seems a bit harder since the patch.

Definitely. It's more competitive in midfield. COM players get tighter to their man and challenge much faster than before the patch.

Now if only the COM can stop playing low passes to the near post, it'd be great. The COM seems completely obsessed with doing that in my game, despite the fact that I cut the pass out every time.

Yes, AI is a bit tighter in midfield which is good, but when it comes to creating opportunities the CPU-AI seems very limited and repetitive.

Most of the time it tries the attacks through the wings.

I hope the next patch focuses on improving the CPU-AI's attacking options and creativity without resorting to cheating.

Ok i got the update and played my mate online. Brilliant, no slowdown whatsoever. 4th game in the game just slowed down and it was like playing in treacle.

It's totally shocking again.

My ps3 beeps when quiting the game also. I'm finished with it from now on, glad i bought fifa 14 now.

For what it is worth, i honestly now believe that the ps3 cant handle the fox engine or parts of it.

We should all get our money back.

I think my initial enthusiasm has totally worn off now. I think there are improvements but they're so incremental that they simply aren't good enough.

- keepers are still dodgy. Really dodgy. I've seen them palm the ball into their own net, dive under the ball etc since the patch. Not as much as before, but enough to piss me off. I even went the right way to save a penalty earlier, my keeper got his entire torso behind the ball and somehow it hit his elbow and deflected back into the middle of the goal. Terrible.

- the COM IS ABSOLUTLEY OBSESSED with getting the ball down the wings and passing it to the near post. The last game I played, it tried it about five times in one match.

- I can still score when one-v-one with the keeper virtually every single time. Just loft the shot a few feet off thoe ground and it'll go over the keeper's dive.

- in a whole day of playing this the keepers seem virtually as impossible to beat from long range shots as before, on Superstar at any rate. They still do superhuman swan dives while catching the ball, yet if you shoot at them from closer range, with a weaker shot, they parry it straight out into the middle of the goal.

- I still get loads of occasions when I charge up a shot on the edge of the box and it just freezes for a second, with the power bar charged up, and he automatically runs into the penalty area without me able to do anything about it.

- my biggest gripe, is that the difficulty hasn't been sorted out. It can be a tough match for 85 minutes where I struggle to get off a single shot at goal, then suddenly the AI will go all stupid and allow me to pretty much play two passes from my own defence and it'll open up allowing me to score. I just turned the game off while 4-0 up, something I've certainly never done in PES before because it was boring. I struggle to get a shooting opportunity, and then on four occasions the game visibly opens up and feels like it's just allowing me to score.

- atmosphere is still terrible. A huge crowd is all excited, I score a goal and the crowd gives off some kind of strange quiet applause. What's that all about?

- I still don't like the dribbling mechanics. I miss R2 dribbling.

- shooting to me feels identical. Perhaps you can get a bit of power behind shots now, but it seems that on Superstar, whether you beat the keeper or not depends on how far out you are and the angle you are shooting from.

- most of my goals scored still feel exactly the same. One v ones, downward headers from crosses, and from tackling defenders and running in on goal.

I think I'm going to have to accept that I simply don't like the game, it no longer feels like PES to me. The game is more enjoyable since the patch for sure, but my issues were with shooting and the variety of goals and build up play being very repetitive. Well, I've been with the patched game most of the day and I don't think I've seen a type of goal that is new to what I've already done before. The game is so reliant on lofted through balls and crosses that it's become so one dimensional.

Not to mention the fact that I feel like players no longer feel individual any more, but that's another point altogether.

I imagine others on PS3 are happy at the moment just to haves a working game, but coming from 360 where it ran smoothly to begin with, I was hoping other gameplay factors would be tweaked, but sadly, no.

Think I'm done with PES this year, for the first time I can remember in a very long time.

New patch made the game way better. Slowdowns are minimized, goalies are sometimes questionable (but that´s been an issue for several games, get used to it), responsiveness is better but not as near as 13. Barca-abusers still get their way with lofted passes. And 1 on 1 lobs are still pretty much a done deal. Game is more fluent yes. Regarding the PS3 restarting when quiting the game. Are there many of you who are experiencing this? It happens to me every time. Could it be damaging in the long run for my system? I have no intention of getting a next-gen until the probably the next PES is on the marked.

Wow what a bullshit. Sorry. In particular about shooting :COAT: shooting is much, much better.Keepers are decent after a patch, not good enought but not dodgy. The game feels much, much better. No slowdowns, better ball physics, better control etc.

LOL the ball physics are exactly the same. I already said keepers we're better but they still let in shitty goals. Control feels exactly the same. Talk about getting sucked in by placebo effects.

So what's so different about shooting then? Shots are maybe a bit more powerful but that's about it.

Oh and after 800 faces added, I find it hilarious that Andros Townsend, one of the most current/relevant players around in the Premier League and England team at the moment, still has a generic face. Really poor.

regarding the restart of the console(beeping sound)when you quit

the game, im pretty sure it has to do with importing your own

tracks music into the game, i've had the same issue with tekken. it

might be the only 2 games in the market that are causing that and

funnily enough they are the only 2 games i regularly play :CONFUSE:

For the first time in PES history, there is no indıviduality of players. Only stat seperate players from each other is speed. Very primitive, like in old Fifa games.

I think it's time to quit chasing good old days dream and move on :(

Agree, individuality is virtually non-existent. It's divided into those who can dribble and those who can't, and those defenders with better tackling stats, and those without. It's lousy.

Player individuality has been on the slide for many years and it's at an all-time low in PES2014. The series can't really claim this is a selling point over FIFA any longer.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the feeling of player individuality has reduced as we see greater implementation of manual controls in PES. I know many will disagree but the evidence points to this in my opinion.

Gameplay was far more automated back in the golden days of PES and I can't help feeling it was this that helped the player individuality shine. The game was more stat driven and scripted than it is now.

The console beeping/turning off on quitting the game has been there since before the patch for me and many others

the best example, i think, is the introduction of pass support. unassisted passing is, in theory, anathema to player individuality. of course its not quite in practice, because even unassisted passing has support. its introduction to increase our input reduces the individuality of the player in our control. i play unassisted because i have to choose, but i would prefer just one level of pass, default, which i think allows developers to imagine a more full, though slightly scripted, gameplay. the last one was 2011, which is why despite its faults, i still view it fondly.

good day.
