Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I wonder if the download version on PS3 is genuinely without lag (sans game plan) There was talk about it when the game first came out but I have seen little talk of it recently. I don't have that much problem with the retail version but if a mate was considering it I would probably sell it to him to get the download version - If I was sure it was better in this regard.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Lami can you please let me know wat commentary options there are on the PAL xbox version?

UK PAL Xbx 360 I only have English and Swedish languages but cannot see the commentary anywhere.

Btw, this TV database should help people know more about their TV's input lag.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

i think pes 2014 to have the potential of a great simulation of a football game but IMHO has many flaws and drawbacks which tend to make it looking extremely unfinished.
one of these major flaws is the Delayed responsiveness issue aka "Input Lag" issue , that is NOT uncommon issue in gaming industry generally and is NOT a new issue to pes series specifically as it has been already plagued bu this issue in 2010
and i see this issue "Input Lag" issue to be a fatal issue that make any game easily unplayable especially sport games and namely pes
and i wonder how the word "Delayed responsiveness" or "Input Lag" is just mentioned contextually in-between lines while reviewing pes 2014 as on of its cons while i think it should be just on the headline but why???
Input Lag causes the following gameplay inconsistencies in pes 2014 :

1-one touch passing
impossible to perform when receiving the ball from a close teammate "just try to do it in free training"

hard to perform while receiving the ball from a distant teammate unless u press passing button while the ball is still far away from you

2-1st time shooting
the same as passing ,impossible to perform when receiving the ball from a close teammate , and you will just notice your player taking an extra touch on the ball which is quite enough in some situations to make you loose an easy opportunity inside the box

hard to perform 1st time shooting while receiving the ball from a distant teammate unless u press shooting button while the ball is still far away from you

3-Dribbling
Dribbling is the most real-time process in a football game even in real football
u must take the feedback by your eyes and instantly translate what u see into proper reactionary movements for instantly controlling your player to mislead and bypass the defender
but with Input Lag this is very hard while dribbling the CPU ,because these milliseconds delayed responsiveness of your player makes the CPU has advantage over you added to that , the CPU may even reacts directly to you controller input not to your player movement which makes dribbling the CPU even worse
yet this is not the case when playing against human cause both of you having the same milliseconds delay making you suffering while dribbling and ur opponent suffering during defending , but both of you will feel like moving blocks and the game will feel very stiff at times

4-Defending
the same can be applied to defending against the CPU due to the milliseconds input delay that only u r suffering not the CPU
also not the case while playing a human player but will feel some sort of stiffness in one on on situations

5-cursor switching
i believe this is not a separate issue but rather one of the complications of input lag , if i remember well pes 2012 suffered from a player switching issue , where the CPU choose a wrong a player of ur team to switch the cursor to , in pes 2014 the problem takes a new aspect where the CPU may switch the cursor to the proper player of ur team but it just takes an extra time to do that and this issue namely can also make a very good game simply unplayable

in fact this issue together with the menu lagging and frame rate issues make me think that may be the input lag this in pes 2014 not related to the new animations which need to complete cycles before responding to the new input commands to start new cycles but "may be" its relating more to optimization of the new game with its new animation and graphic engines

6-total control
this term is used to describe some previous pes titles but if i can remember well it was never mentioned in any pes 2014 "nor pes 2010" press release and I'm sure it's not a coincident because both titles plagued by one of the most annoying bugs in a football game "Input Lag" which practically makes total control concept simply nonexistent and also not a coincident that both titles were having all new animation systems pes 2010 in-house animation technology "may be the worst pes animations " and a new MASS in pes 2014 thanks to "HAVOK" "as i believe FOX engine is only used graphically in pes 2014 while the animation engine depends mainly on HAVOK animation and physics technology and this new hybrid of HAVOK animations and physical engine with FOX graphical engine with the same old pes AI faulty design results in a great simulator football game with some major flaws and drawbacks like input lag that i hope to be addressed in next year iteration

finally the only way to overcome input lag is to play a lot as the more u play normal matches and training , ur brain will accommodate with this millisecond delay and will compensate for it by trying to anticipate the opponent reactions to give the input commands milliseconds earlier to have a proper outcome in the presence of this delayed responsiveness

i remember many reviewers mentions delayed responsiveness to be one of the issues of pes 2014 but they stated that it's less prominent than in pes 2010 but after spending some time in free training trying the dribbling defending , one touch passing and 1st time shooting , i can comfortably say that input lag in pes 2014 is simply on bar with its counterpart in pes 2010

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

What a shame that this game misses a finshing touch, because gameplay wise this is fantastic.

Agree with this, makes it very hard to recommend this game to friends when you have to make so many excuses for it.

Still enjoying the game myself, but I was hoping this would be the year I could convert some others to the PES side, with the new flashier graphics and animations.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Not sure about the catch up bug myself. I think fast players are lot faster in this game than they have been in the past.

I think they have paced the game brilliantly in that it has slow build up, but when fast players get up to their top speed they are faster than they have been.

Keepers seem to be good from shots from distance, but if you get close they dive sometimes way after the ball has passed them.

All in all I back in love with PES after a few years where I really didn't think I would ever be again with a football game.

I think you have to play the game using both analogue sticks and R2 all of the time. Subtle use of the right stick to shift weight makes dribbling very realistic and R2 to turn, control and do deep crossing.

As others have said you need to keep your finger on shoot for a lot longer than previous versions. I also use triangle quite a bit after shooting too, to hit low powerful shots.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Picked up this game yesterday and I'm loving it! Anyone know which commentary language is the least bland? I'm currently using Españoll (Argentina) and its somewhat bland.

are u on xbox or ps3?

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Also regarding the catch-up bug, i think some people don't know how to sprint in this game...( just an useful tip:use burst sprinting, double tap R1 ;) ).

I have the UK PSN version which i play on a U.S. PS3 and TV, and I have no lag issues at all during gameplay. Occasionally I have player that won't shoot on demand around the 6 yard box but I think there's a bug in that area of the game when it comes to shooting/headers.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Really starting to get my head around this game now.

My biggest breakthrough has been finding the discipline to let go of the left-stick (PS3). Doing so never occurred to me but I realise now you don't have to be pushing in a direction all the time - certainly not while defending with X and when receiving a pass. This allows you to engage the right-stick tricks and flicks.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

No worries, I don't know if people with the PS3 version can change it but it's worth experimenting with on 360.

As for finesse shots with R2 as mentioned above, has anyone scored one yet? I haven't, apart from easy chances. I am however having success with pressing R2 after pressing shoot first, it still does that little lofted shot you could do in recent PES games. Seems successful in one on ones vs the keeper. That's on basic shooting.

I've scored a few but only if they are taken first time w/o taking any other touch.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

In previous versions I tried just that, but was often beaten by the infamous through-ball through the middle, where none of the CB came in action to stop the attacker. That's why I started to use the 2nd press ( square on PS 3 )and covered my defenders with my own player.
What I understand from you is that with PES 2014 you can succesfully defend against such through balls in the middle by only use the X button?
Do you only use to contain, or do you also use a standing tackle with pressing the X button twice?

It´s as simple as you said. I only use the X button to contain, but sometimes i might tap the R1 button to try and recover the ball, but only small taps here and there, so I don´t loose position. Same with double X. While I´m doing this, my other defenders will position acordingly and most of times will antecipate and recover the ball automatically. It may seem too simple and easy, but it´s not that effective. It only makes the other team playing slowly and depending on your defensive tactic, through passes from AI won´t be as effective as in previous versions. It´s the only way I defend now.
Even in those moments of confusion in my own box, i use this system as most of times, the AI can´t go through on goal. Normally, my team will get the loose ball and then I use the shot button to clear the ball, or if I´m safe enough, I start to pass and try the counter attack.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I have two major problems who are quite essential in moden football: corner kicks and headers.

Second problem: offensive headers. If i cross my players never seem to win headers. What am i doing wrong ?

What type of shooting you use? I had the same problem with manual shooting. When i changed it to basic i started to win offensive headers.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Playing on 360 now, UK version, and just wanted to confirm there are no framerate issues for me here, even on replays. Gameplan is still slow though. The PS3 version has serious issues with it. So smooth on the 360. Definitely sticking with this.

How do you change between 50/60hz? Changed to 720p then it tests 50hz and that's it. Where's the option to switch? Or is it when it asks to test 50hz you go no and it stays on 60hz?

Yeah, when it asks if you can see 50htz, choose yes and your done. To go back to 60htz, choose no even though you can actually see the display on 50htz. I'd be interested to know your opinion on that, it's a minor difference and I'd like to know if I have that classic affliction that is PES placebo'itis!

Thanks for confirming about the audio commentary too, yours seems the same as mine. Some people on UK 360 are reporting multiple audio language options.

Also, you'll enjoy the 360 version. Once installed it runs smooth as anything, and IMO the graphics are much nicer than in my PS3 demo I tried.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Yep, it's a tough game. Takes some learning but you will get there:))
It will be tough if you're expecting fast players with the ball to outpace slow defenders without it.

Funny, it is the way I rejected last year because of the through-pass I told you. I always used it in earlier versions.
I agree with you. it is the best way to keep the defense in shape.
Together with other defensive controls ( the moving D-line with the D-pad, and the right stick to push or pull the attacker ) we now have good enough tools to defend well. :)

Yep. Very much preferring the 360 version to my PS3.

Regarding 50/60hz, even when clicking yes on the 50hz page, my TV shows it goes back to 60hz :II

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

In the tv broadcast camera, anyone knows if we can take out that option that make zoom on the play??
Its really annoying playing and suddenly its zoom in and zoom out.

Does changing from 1080p back down to 720p make any difference?

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

The biggest issue which kills the realism for me is 180 degree turns..You can turn in no time while standing and easily pass the ball in awkward situations..

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Heading..

I've headed one goal so far.. with some missed headers..

Key for header is press shoot or pass if you want it to head to team mate when the ball at least in the middle of its trajectory. o just after the ball is sent into the box.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

The Xbox version of this game is getting seriously dumped on. They still haven't fixed the data pack, from what I know of, and whilst PS3 has a billion option files to chose from, the Xbox has zero. ...Sigh.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Guys, the South American Com Manager from PES, Robbye Aron, just posted today a message on Facebook saying that all PES players tell him for today all the good and bad things about PES. PES Team ask him to do it so they can consider the opinions for next updates.

Anyone here have someones? (serious one, for a great football game) so i can notice him.
