Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Yes, all of these, unfortunately. Awareness is a total stinker, which leads to a lot of very very odd looking goals and situations. I just played a game where I had two incidents of shit awareness in the same situation - Messi comes forward, I hit the shot button, but instead of releasing a shot, he takes a second too long, defender comes close to him, jostles him away a bit, before he eventually takes the shot in a very odd shooting position, hits the crossbar, rebound goes to Fabregas, who should under any normal circumstance just head the ball into the empty need, but his reaction is too (unrealistically) slow, he takes it down on his chest, and then performs one of these silly looking tap-in volleys. Looked proper weird.

I thought the demo played much better than this, for some reason. Oh, well, another year where we have to trust the editors to make a decent game for us. Damnit. :(

Demo had the same thing, just it was shorter so you saw less odd moments like this.

The game doesn't feel rushed as in Konami can't handle their new technology. This feels as if it was originally intended for the PS4/XBOX1 and they have had trouble trying to scale it down for the PS3.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I think the slow dribbling thing was a poorly implemented design choise. Notice how off the ball you finally have an analog control over the player's walking speed with the stick. I think they wanted to do the same with the dribbling but didn't, so we got the slowest, close control only type of dribbling.

Speaking of the off the ball, players are still locking onto the ball way too much, now even more when running after a the ball against a defender.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Hay am new here and am wondering if anyone can help me here.

I got this game on the Xbox 360 today from Shopto.net. I am really enjoying it at the moment. But I can't download the latest date pack. I really want to get on to Master League Online. But when I go to the data pack it stars downloading. But it takes ages my first try took nearly 4 hours. Only for it to say this data pack is broken please try downloading again.

I have tried 2 more times and the same things happens. Any suggestions?

Anyone? I have read on some forums you can change the download to HTT from P2P? How do I do this on Xbox?

thanks.

Me too. 2013's contextual dribbling system was better. You had more freedom and imagination to place the ball where you wanted it, your default dribble speed wasn't locked, but it wasn't overpowered like 2012 because the momentum/ inertia model was more realistic. You really felt as if the stick was your main dribbling foot :)

2014 has continued to improve the movement physics but the dribbling has taken a step backward imo, strange as it was one of the things they didn't need to change from the last game.

You can still do a job with it though with practice, it doesn't kill the game, but its not as intuitive and instinctive as before unfortunately.

Nah, it's good. People are looking to do sharp turns to unbalance defenders, it's all changed now, you need to make a direct input not to do this rather than just use the left stick.

So a fake shot to perform a cryuff turn, tapping, using the R1 button and using the right stick, experiment with this and you will be able to beat players. So far, i do like this system.

Only the 1st, 2nd day this is all new and we already know the big issues, but there is still plenty for us to get to know.

It's not good because there's no midpoint between the normal dribbling and the sprint button. Sprinting is fast and uncontrolable, which is how it should bet, but at the same time the normal dribbling is so slow you can't do much with it.

I do enjoy the outcome of combining it with the ocasional tap of R1, but I still feel it's a step back in the freedom aspect of the game.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Maybe you should try those edited players in match situations under higher pressure compared to free training.

I remember you also said there was no/minimal individuality in 2012. I agreed that dribbling was too easy to exploit, but no/minimal individuality?

I used lots of players in mlo, studied their stats, and felt the differences on the pitch in terms of technique, passing etc and more. There has to be some level of general competence as they are professional footballers, even with poorer players.

Maybe you’re not noticing the subtleties or maybe its your playstyle. I know what game I’m playing and I can notice differences between the players, just like I did with PES 2012 when you said there wasn’t any.

PES 2012 introduced different assistance settings, so was the first in the series to diminish the importance of the passing stat. There's a fair few on here that swear that manual passing is influenced by stats, some even claim more so than assisted, but I honestly don't see it. Try it yourself, there should be a profound difference between 40 and 99 short pass accuracy, and should be immediately obvious in Free Training regardless of the context.

In terms of the other variables, I honestly can't remember the dribbling in PES 12 as I didn't play it much. Would you accept it was at least lessend than in PES 11? I thought the individuality was inherent enough in PES 13, besides passing, so don't think I'm completing dismissing Konami's capability.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

4-player, Single Match, League (CL Group) on Zero Assist Passing, Advanced Through-Ball and Shooting. Superb fun.

R2, L1, Sprint, Sprint Tap, and Right Stick Tricks in combination with each other can produce amazing dribbling. It's tough, but when you pull it off with the right players it's a joy. And vast, you can do anything.

Animation delay on first-time shooting is a pain though.

We are having a blast and scored some great goals. It's down to the final match now to see who will be crowned the first PES 14 Champion.

I think its a bit early to write it all off.

im really tempted to get the digital download version, but right now cannot patch and play online? is that correct? :(

Sprinting is actually implemented really well. There's a sense of vulnerability and lack of control, and there's a real sense of speed with it. But like you said there's no inbetween, no ability to shift it half a yard to skip away or unleash a shot.

A consequence of this is the build-up play seems really banal. There aren't sudden changes in tempo, transitions from probing to sudden bursts of urgency where a move clicks together. I feel like I lack the tools to improvise, and it's just a case of stringing passes together before clumsly finding myself infront of goal.

Even the variation in shots is minimal. No R1 dink anymore. R2 finesse shooting is ineffectual.

I'm just hoping this hidden depth will emerge the more I play it, but I'm not getting that sense. Feels more like I'm fighting the controls.

Quick 90º turns (fortunately erradicated) aren't the problem here.

The problem is, when I watch any live footy game, I rarely see any player without opposition control the ball with so many touches, as if it was an amateur with lack of self-confidence.

This year's dribbling system lacks a true analog input, but above all it lacks just normal movement, the one we always had in footy games. To kind of replicate this you have to slightly tap R1, but this isn't a good solution, as R1 button isn't analog too.

You do get massive bursts in the pace with players like El Shaarawy. Beating a defender with him is so rewarding, and if you double tap the sprint button he's gone.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Never said I was writing it off, just said I didn't like it :p

Btw didn't Adam said the day1 patch had fixes for all sorts of issues? Because it brought no changes to the gameplay files :)

The changes are inside the ExE file.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

i can underatnd the input lag and delayed responsiveness due to implementation of new animation system so that the animation cycle should complete before doing the user order

what i don't understand is the delay in cursor change "player switching lag" when on semi-assisted cursor change

obviously the game is way from being finished

hany3 if you're on about the PC version then please keep your feedback in the relevant PC thread. These are different platforms and may have different issues.

I'll say this again to everyone:

Keep your PC feedback in the PC thread. Do not mix them up in here.

Thanks.

It's L1 dink now, but withl more strength variation from a clip to a chip. Also R2 Finesse is miles better, so much less effective and so much better for it. Even with the better players. I much prefer it.

Animation delay, lenient refs for cynical challenges and slowdown in the box are my early bug bears.

Keepers are class, really enjoying them, especially reaction saves at close quarters.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Well it's the same with the consoles mate (the executables just have different names), and the changes should be the same as well (I think).

But we're not really sure whether the changes area the same. If you're talking about the PC version then please do so in the appropriate thread. If you do find anything interesting that may relate to consoles then please enlighten us here. But please do start in that thread first.

Yeah sorry mate, I assumed Konami was any other company that wouldn't dare having different gameplay variables on different plataforms :P

Zero assistance for me was influenced by stats more so than assisted passing, I could feel them to some degree; if you're referring to L2 manual then I don't know because I don't use it.

I don't think I've gone as low as 40 for passing :P but the default MLO players felt awful which their stats imply.

I also don't think 2012's individuality was lessened, I just think it was a PES 5-6 scenario where the game was improved, but unbalanced. The speed and ease of exploiting the game increased so that could make it seem as if individuality was compromised/minimized or dampened some of its effects on the surface. If they had balanced the game better like 2011 it (indv.) would probably have been more obvious.

It did become more obvious in 2013 when the game was slowed down again and the movement physics went up a level in realism. I can feel individuality in 2014 as well, but the degree to which we all feel it seems to be different?

I just ended up winning the CL Group League, finished on 6 points, the same as my son. But although he had better goal difference, I topped the group in virtue of beating him. I thought that was pretty cool as total CL.

Son wasn't too happy though, he thought he'd done enough with the goal difference.

Agreed 100%.

Shit passers on Zero are horrendous, almost school-boy or blind school level.

Zero Assist really highlights the gulf, more than anything. It's blatant.

You know what, maybe i'm too easily pleased by PES. Maybe i should be more harsh and cynical.

Just not sure how that will benefit me actually come to think of it.
