Unacceptable.

Imho PES 2013 has some brilliance behind it on the pitch. What I found is that in order to defend properly you need to prevent the CPU's strikers from getting the ball.

The CPU strikers are lethal when they are of a good team, they are usually a little bit faster than my defenders and can keep the ball in possession well and when my defenders are around them they get nervous and can't pin them down reliably, and when they have a little bit of space near the goal they can shoot really well and curve the ball around the defenders and goalkeeper.

So the defending should not start in the final third but in midfield or even before that. You need to pressure well in midfield and you will find that you can intercept balls or force the CPU's midfield-players to make wrong decisions and pass the ball in the wrong direction or with less precision.

Sometimes a good timed foul is needed to break up an attack, even if it means a yellow card.

And when attacking don't play so obvious passes and attacking-styles. Key is to surprise, to play differently, also to be patient and to play back, to draw them out... and at the right situation/time to use certain players to make a little good dribbling to leave one defender behind and force other defenders to replace him and by this deforming the defense's structure and then to exploit it.

There is some really good gameplay hidden in there and at times it's imho really brilliant, but you need to be on your toes all the time, any slip up gets majorly punished.

After playing 2 games with 1.04, this is what I found:

-The ball is heavier and doesn't bob around as much
-The ball travels faster if it is cleanly hit
-The attacking AI is more intelligent. Before, the AI would keep scoring with through balls.
-The players respond a bit better
-The game feels a bit faster and cleaner overall. But that might be bad because randomness is one of the best parts about PES

I played at Superstar

Played a a Copa Libertadores tournament with the new patch and then played 3 random exhibition games with mid tiered European teams.

Game is enjoyable at the momement for me but I'm not sure if it's the patch, as I've also been trying to play the game a bit slower/more considered, which I can only do on Regular. I find the difficulties above sees the AI press you too much, or maybe the defenders shadow you too much, and in turn, I play quicker and press against the AI too much. I get sucked in basically.

I've been trying to use super cancel to run into players when challenging for loose balls more often as I saw someone reference it from the old PES 6 days in a video on youtube lol. Doesn't work ALL the time as there is a lot of clipping going on but I've done it a few times and only a couple of fouls :)

I prefer to play on Long Cam as I think that has a nice speed for the ball. Some of the other camera's frame rates can make the hardest of shots look tame lol. I'd LOVE to see someone on PC modify Long Cam by dropping the height a few clicks so it's closer to ground level. That would be about perfect for me.

The AI does seem to be playing the ball around a little more and they've been putting in a ground cross to the near post more often. I scored a lovely goal with Jovetic last night where he recieved the ball with his back to goal around 25 yards out and his first touch towards goal bobbled up slightly so he struck the ball on the tiniest of half volleys but the ball beat the keeper with an "almost" dipping shot at half height.

Also have been trying to discover some better techniques for striking the ball. Obviously, half volleys or running onto a knock on will give you a lot of power but I have noticed if you can dribble and get the player's momentum going forward for another stride, if you let go of sprint ever so slightly then press shoot and aim, you can smack it hard too.

There IS a lot of depth to the game so if they can keep the core fundamentals as they are but with better animations for players and keepers and more freedom in movemement and the ball, we know the gameplay should be fantastic. Having the new tactical zone's for AI should be brilliant also.

I hope the shooting/crossing trajectories get more freedom too as I'd love to see a shot that bounces just in front of the keeper and catches him off guard a little so he fumbles it off his chest or his arm. Even the curling/swerving shots need to look more lethal...but be saved on occassion by the keeper. Good times coming up I hope!!

Personally I find the game much better since the patch, how people can't see a difference since the patch is baffling.

I've had some great games on superstar there's a lot more freedom in the game, both myself and the cpu have been scoring some great goals.

I even found a better home and away atmosphere in the matches eg a louder cheer when scoring and not much noise when attacking in away games.

The 2 or 3 moves ahead thinking is working a lot of the time, of course there is scripting, the cpu isn't a human you have to be realistic.

This is what should have been released as the full game.

I try 1.03 and 1.04 few times with munchen vs barca.

Generally, lob through pass has lesser chances to come to cpu ai foots which i found like a magnet to cpu ai in 1.03. Generaly passing trajectory feels more free. Team mates moves around a bit more often. and i love having long range shoot with Kroos :WORSHIP:

If only they'll fix GK with their dissapointing throw, one on one performance and it's limited animation. C'mon patch 1.05 :P

1.04 generally feels better than 1.03 for sure, gonna try some other team tonight :))

There's that something about 1.04 that reminds me of the first demo. It's definitely more likeable to me.

Yes, I think so too. Anyway far better than 1.03 and finally make the game more playable.

Still playing this years pes, 2012 was a letdown for me but have to say this is the best football game I have played this generation, looking forward to what they do with their new engine!

Can confirm that playing on superstar with 1.04 feels considerably different from playing on top-player, it seems more free.

Had just an amazing match on superstar, it's like Konami forgot to implement cheating on superstar with patch 1.04, it feels like everything is possible. It's a great satisfactory experience.

The only thing that is still wrong are the possession rates, usually I get 60%, but then I have the tactical setting on defensive, so that may contribute something to it. But gameplay feels great, varied and above all exciting!:APPLAUD:

I love this game, it truly is an amazing experience at times.

I don't even have the time to list all the reasons why I love this game, or the energy anymore. But playing against my son, on Zero Assistance is just pure football heaven.....

I'm enjoying the game a lot more post patch. I've had some spectacular games; especially variation in the goals I've scored.

How many hours in a Suarez75 day? I'm envious of how long they are, as I'd finally play all the games that I've been wanting to.

Hey proxy sorry man ive been tinkering with getting it all set up. Ill post all my settings today at some point.

Does seem to be more freedom post patch and some more variety in play and goals. Looks like keepers have improved or are making slightly different saves as well. Obviously the animations aren't always convincing...which is probably the main drawback at the moment. Otherwise, gameplay is really good.

Has anybody mentioned that they have finally fixed the Quick-Free Kick option ?!!

Jeez, how long did that take ? :CONFUSE:

that was the only thing i noticed, but it's also the most important for people playing at 0 bars assistance. That took them far too long.

Ok as promised

Pes 2013 on PC

patched with Jenkey 3.09

Global edits with Pes editor

Attack = 1
Pressing = 20
Defend Line = 20
Compactness = 20

Gameplay

Shot Power = 117
Ball Speed = 120
Ball Weight = 145

AI Optimisation 1
Remove Bad script checked

Curve = 60
Goalnet = 107

I find these settings play a decent game, but opinions differ. Its the difference between the vanilla game which is poor as and an amazing game thats been fixed somewhat due to the patching community. Ball weight itself is a god send.

Good luck.

This happened to me earlier in a game (using 1.04 patch)

fuuuuuuuuuck saaaaaaaaaake this game pisses me off!

Keepers..... *shakes fist*

Excuse me but why didn't you press the shoot button to clear the ball from area? I always do that in danger situations, it seems you pressed pass button instead after the first goalkeeper mistake

That's nothing, pretty harmless mistake that I always anticipate would happen every once in a while, and as Ameppe said, you had the opportunity to correct the mistake of the keeper...

But you are right those mistakes shouldn't happen.

Much worse though is what happened in a match of mine playing on superstar against Cote D'ivoire and Drogba had a freekick, which he shot right into the direction of the net where my goalkeeper stood , and what did he do on his own? Instead of raising his hands and parrying the ball, he stepped outside of the goal to the right, completely leaving the goal empty, so that the ball could go in undisturbed...:RANT:

Still, patch 1.04 on gamespeed -2 or -1 and full manual, on superstar, using defensive tactical setting, feels great and plays great, good AI, good movements, good freedom, good passing, good interactions, it feels rewarding and exciting. Only these little cheatings that occasionaly pop up disturb the fun.

I just had one of my team-mates in BAL make a run outside the linesman - This may have happened before but I certainly have never noticed it until now.

It's a pretty sly way to escape the offside I guess
