PES 2013 Discussion Thread

From Edge online

Edge 252 contains exclusive details on how Konami seeks to reclaim Pro Evolution Soccer’s place at the head of sports games with photorealistic graphics and a new take on soccer physics. It also includes an interview with Hideo Kojima about Fox Engine and his vision for the next generation. It goes on sale March 14th.

The bolded is the most interesting part

Why care for the usual "every year-the-same"-PR-train? The game will be released in september-november this year.

There will be a demo to test it out, so there is really no need to jump through the hoops of limited informations, screenshots or Jon Murphy's every-year: "I'm impressed by what I saw"-routine... or Adam's "I could tell you some cool things, but I can't, oh, wait, maybe I should hint or hmmm.. maybe better not, ask me next month"-play.

I say it's best to just be patient, the game will be released in no time.

This better not just be improved physics and graphics.

after serious thought I decided to stop playing football video games(mainly pes, never had the chance of playing Fifa after 2002). for I no more find the joy in playing PES because most of the time you rely on its flaws to score goals in no-reality-reproduction manners, though these games are meant to reproduce realistic feelings.
I was groing tired of opposition players looking towards the touch line and the next thing doing is sending a through ball to the center forward and the randomness of the AI behavior(Examples are infinite, but that's not the reason behind writing this post).
Another reason is that I always liked to play real football even if in Morocco it's a 5 a side game on asphalt with mini cages with no goal keepers, where you have to be a defender a midifelder and an attacker if you want to win, although I am a proven goal scorer in 11 vs 11 games.

Now it is 2013 and after every release we still complain, and as another forum member stated that it's only because we are football fans that we do with the games as they are, turning a blind eye on all these flaws that keep coming. yesterday I was at a virgin megastore, and I saw a ps3 with fifa 13 on a screen where you can test it but the players mouvments were very horrible and I told myself that there was no hope in football video games.
To sum it up I am more satisfied with that 1 real football game I play every saturday than playing pes everyday, and as long as flaws and randomness are what Konami will deliver the hiatus shall keep going(I tell my friends on many occasions that pes and fifa suck because they are made by countries where football sucks(japan, usa and canada), and maybe if they were made in europe, brazil or argentina they will be much better)

Looking at what little we can see, the graphic's aren't exactly next gen, just better texture but in fairness, graphics is one of the last thing or should be on konami's agenda, there has never been a pes game in such decline as there is now, another slip up i think will see the end of the series, we've been deluding ourself for some time, well i have anyway. While i did have enjoyment in pes, there just seems to be missing that fun factor as ML got messed about to much. I really do hope the glory days of pes where it was the only game to ever be in my console 24/7 returns but i can't say i see it happening.

Japan loves football! Look crowded stadiums, flags, everything is world class ... Not accidentally already had success at international level.
But yeah, Canadian sux !

With a combo of bad weather here in Iceland and a persistent cold, I have been playing a lot of BAL in PES 2013. I absolutely love it and am finding it tough to stop playing! Only on Professional difficulty but it feels just right to me so I'm good.

Looking forward to next-gen PES, although I don't see myself buying a next-gen machine until fall 2014-spring 2015 maybe.

Statements like this are utterly preposterous. Japan has maybe one of the most entertaining leagues in the world, just because it isn't on the TV like EPL, La Liga, Serie A are, doesn't mean there aren't any other good leagues.

Not just to mention that, the talent of the game developers and programmers is of far more significance than their country of origin, or even interest in football.

You could put all of the greatest football minds and the most ardent fans into a studio, with every license under the sun, and they won't produce a football game that even works, in fact they may not even be able to write one line of relevant code.
To be employed in the production of the second biggest football game on the market though, I'd suspect that a certain level enthusiasm for football must be present in the members of the development team.

There is a point to be made however for having people who are more thoroughly involved and educated in football theory in a supervisory role during the production of the game.

This is nonsense.
Real life soccer and soccer in videogames is not the same.
If you are a good player in real life it does'nt mean you are good in a soccer videogame as well.
And if you are good in a soccer videogame you are not automatically a good player in real life.

The same is for programming. Ok, Japan was and is not succesful as Italy, Germany, Argentina, France or Brazil but that has nothing to do with skillz of programmers.

It will be interesting to see how soccer games will be on next gen. Today fifa and pes are still far away from simualting "real" soccer from my point of view.
There are some good aspecs in each game but in the end both are far away from reality.
But the question is - has it to be as authentic as possible?

If he has the freedom community managers from other games usually have (as in, not tied to any PR agenda), then it's incredible news :)

Having a community manager who is petulant, condescending, narcissistic and who is ultimately a poor wordsmith and communicator, isn't incredible news in my opinion. Still, seems like he won't be much more than a PR shill, so...

All things considered, I think this is a good thing. I've moaned about Adam many times on these boards. The way he has 'moderated' his forum has been nothing short of appalling at times. Petulance and throwing one's weight around won't work as the official community manager so he will have to curtail that. I'd like to think Adam has matured since the early days of WENB and hopefully he has learned some lessons along the way.

From Konami's point of view he has experience in the industry and will arrive fully versed in PR bullshit from his Ubisoft days. He has made WENB one of the more high-profile PES sites so his CV is good as far as they are concerned.

I do believe he has the best interests of PES at heart and speaks as a fan. I share many of his views on PES (and FIFA) so at least I feel represented in some way.

Not really sure how the new role will work. I guess he'll be a more visible, more vocal lackey of Murphy, there to spread the word and act as a firewall when things hot up.

Konami data pack 4 released today, thought I'd download it just to see what they'd done.

First, for the fourth time running, something in the data pack makes the club emblems for the Premier League teams all disappear and revert back to normal. Second, I look at Man Utd intrigued to see what they'd done with new signing Wilfired Zahar, and they haven't include him in the game. Despite releasing the update in March. What a transfer update this is.

Konami are well and truly fucking useless.

I am playing PES on my laptop, Using graphic patches (turf, faces, etc)tells a different story compared to out of box game. I disagree if the graphic should be last priority..

Anyway from Konami official

I think that picture is better compared to current PES 2013's face in terms of reality. :APPLAUD:

Graphical stuff aside, i agree there is a decline in PES 2013 gameplay according to my perspective in how football game should work.. GK throw, one on one reaction and its animation, how my off the ball player should move around, especially attackers.. is dissapointing though. Not to mention how CPU ai should play off and on the ball..

I have no desire at all with current Master League

#FIFA is out of question :P

Zaha has been loaned back to Palace for the rest of the season.
Konami usuually do this with players out on loan - i.e. don't include them in the squad lists for the teams that are in the game.

On another note,

From my twitter:

Congrats Adam :)

Hopefully this should be a good thing for the series from this point on.

EDIT: https://www.konami-pes2013.com/en/2013/03/new-community-manager-adam-bhatti-joins-the-game/

bad news, every since he stared his blog the game became uttershit, he broought bad lack to the series.. (just kidding of course)..... imho he is a compulsive self centred lyer. pes 2008 " a beauty in motion" according to that guy. Konami is making bad decisions on all fronts. He is going to ban everybody that does not agree with him?

i guess i'll stick to basket for another generation!

And if they happen to be on loan to a team that doesn't even exist in the game, they don't create them at all. No biggie, I guess?

I still don't think Konami should do that. If the player is on loan to another team that isn't in the game then just have him in the squad. Zahar will only be on loan for a few months more and after that he's back at Man Utd. For PES players not to have him in the game when they're playing the game well after this season ends is really shit. And why do they take so long with the transfer updates?

And what's with every single data pack update screwing around with option files on 360? It's like they're actively trying to piss off the OF makers. Don't Konami realise that without OF makers out there, a vastly less number of people would be buying their game at all.
