PES 2013 Discussion Thread

what are the best and most useful, in what situations?
It's hard to say what you need to do, wath button to press and wath trick you must do is some situation . Everyone has different football IQ, a different sense, view of situations, different timening . Actually all the tricks are easy as mechanics have always been in PES series, but when and how to use a purely personal view, feeling and why not talent.

You missed the point. Have you even played it? If you ask for a lot more money than a club bids for your player, they will ALWAYS cancel the deal. So if someone bids £12m for your 100 rated player and you ask for anything more an a few million over that amount, they'll cancel the deal and your player ALWAYS hands in a transfer request, even if the club bidding is miles worse than your own.

My point is that the game rates Messi at, say, £30m, so if you bid for him it'll take about £70m+ to sign him. That's fine. No problems with that.

But if my team has a player rated the same as him, say at 100, the game doesn't let you set how much he's worth. So the game makes him worth £9m compared to Messi at £30m.

Whereas to sign a £30m player you'd need to fork out £70m or more, if a club bids for your player at £9m they NEVER go any more than a few million over his 'value'. If you respond and ask for more money, the club will ALWAYS reject the deal and pull out.

The result is that to BUY a player rated at 100, it costs between £50-80m, but you can NEVER SELL your own 100 rated player for the same amount. The most other clubs will bid is around £12m, and all because the game doesn't let you set your own valuation.

Completely agree. The transfer system is half finished.

It seems to me, although i could be wrong as i haven't been playing that much Master League lately, that the transfer fees are too overly determined by what a players current wages are to the exclusion of most other things. For example, if you happen to have a player who just happens to be, say, 88 overall but is on wages of 300K per year the game determines that his transfer value is drastically less than a player with the same overall but who is on an annual salary of 4 mill per year. Wages appear to be the central consideration when determining a players transfer value (with the number of years on the contract being a factor too).

This is, obviously, far from realistic and means that you don't get the monetary reward for developing players. This has the knock on effect of removing the pleasure of starting with a lesser team as you can't build up the bank balance by selling players for what should be their true value and try to build your club that way. As stated above, you get some ludicrously low offers for players with high overall ratings and when you try and negotiate a more appropriate (and realistic) fee them the bidding club always gives you the finger and the player always slaps in a transfer request.

I haven't played the game for about a month as i only play master league and its shortcomings just get on my tits before too long. I usually come on here to read suuuuupertalk's highly entertaining rants. Always seems to be spot on and consistent with my experience of the game.

What happens if you sign these young players to shorter contracts and slowly ramp up their salary? For example, say your youth team player starts at a 65 with a 150K salary. Sign him to a commensurate salary (maybe 500K) short-term deal when he hits 70, and then up him to a few million when hits 80, etc.

If this situation was happening in real-life, then the club would probably offer contract extensions mid-contract with healthy raises, but as far as I know, you can't do that in PES, so the closest you can get is to do short-term contracts with the intent of hanging onto the player and giving them healthy commensurate raises.

True, that might work, but as we all realise, that kinda goes against the idea of managing a club so it's a shame anyone would need to resort to raising wages in order to get their transfer valuation higher. The fun part of management in ML should be trying to keep wages low while selling players for as much as you can. I'm just accepting now that it's plain half finished like Murphyr says.

Hopefully PES2014 will see a revamp of the whole mode!

Well, I don't really see it as unrealistic because that's what would happen in real life in terms of wage increases. Your 300K/year player is not all of a sudden going to get a raise to 10M/year. Probably the team will first give him an extension that pays him significantly more, say to 1M/year, and then maybe he transfers to a bigger club for 5M or 10M/year. The only unrealistic part is that you can't offer extensions in PES until the contract is up.

I think the main problem behind this though is the player progression. I think it was PES 2011 where they introduced "regular" and "dynamic" progression modes, and in the "dynamic" progression, players were growing like crazy based on regular performances. It seems like this year they flicked the switch and made "dynamic" the only choice. In "regular" progression, players didn't grow so fast that you still had 80+ players on a 200K/year contract.

Thinking of trading in FIFA and purchasing PES 2013 today, would you say this is something worth doing, as I'm bored of the FIFA series repetitive gameplay.

Every single match you play on PES is different. That applied VS Human and Cpu.
FIFA is like playing a scripted football match.

ditto

online or with humans both games are a blast

against CPU Fifa is unplayable same game every time. PES playing CPU is almost as variable as playing humans.

Took the plunge and made the 'swap'. I've played 3 or 4 games so far and I love it.

Compared to FIFA it's a complete breath of fresh air, everything about the game feels better. The passing and gameplay in general is much more fluid and at a much better pace. Absolutely fantastic.

I shall be starting a Master League seeing as that's the equivalent to CM in FIFA. Any suggestions for things to do before I start it? Or any particular options to enable/disable before I begin the mode?

Thanks for your help, appreciate it.

Disable auto save on ML! Or it will annoy you.

Welcome to the best football game this gen. I also got fed up with FIFA, such a boring arcade slog fest!

I can't play FIFA offline these days. Not just the gameplay that's repetitive but the player movement is not natural (animations aside) and there's still NO movement off the ball compared with PES. I could pull my hair out watching the rigid setup of CPU teams when you play offline.

Yeah I'm on PS3, what's your online ID? I'm definitely up for some games.

Okay, gotcha. I couldn't agree with the latter part of that statement more, the series has been pretty dull since FIFA 08 in my book.

That's the biggest difference I have noticed so far, the CPU actually VARIES things. I played vs Real Valladolid (I think) or some other lower level La Liga side then vs Panathinaikos and the two games where so different in terms of how they attacked & defended. It's a very nice change.

I agree with the off the ball movement as well, it all seems much more creative. The players make intelligent runs that benefit the build up, unlike FIFA where they will run from deep straight down the middle of a packed defence. Much more intelligent.

Also, anything I can do to get the correct kits for Premier League teams? I don't mind just altering the team names if there's no fix available for console but if there is let me know.

Thank you.

definitely disable autosave
i will also suggest you to set the transfer activity to low, disable the classic players and disabling the player growth unless you'd like to be facing ridiculous superteams

Thanks for the advice!

Looking forward to being able to start my ML today, I shall probably post in the official thread at some point.

I feel exactly the same! FIFA 08 made big strides to towards a slower paced, realistic football game.

Now its just turned into an arcade fest again.

PES 2013 just gets better and better the more you play by the way. Make sure you have a patch downloaded for real kits, stadia etc as it makes game feel more authentic.

Enjoy! :)

Just put a patch on so I have full BPL, Championship, Bundesliga and additional stadiums so I'm ready to go!

One last question, in terms of starting the ML do you have to pick a team from the top tier i.e Udinese and drop down to the second devision? or is there any other option? I'm not familiar with the set up so some guidance would be appreciated.

Thank you again.

If you choose your team to start Master League with all their real life players etc, you'll start off in their real league, and with a set amount of money according to that club - so, Man City for example, will still have the likes of Tevez etc, start in the Premier League, start the season in the Champions League and you'll have a ton of cash.

Choose Man City with ML default players, and you'll start in Div 2, with a squad of crappy made-up players and around £3m in the bank no matter which team you are. Your stadium will also be half empty to begin with until you build up your fan base. The idea is to build your club up from the bottom. All of Man City's real players will therefore be free agents within the game.

So does everyone usually turn Player Growth off? I might do this if it benefits the game.

But dont my own players ever grow that way? Bit pointless isnt it?

And tranfsers set to 'low' - does this mean I wont see silly transfer i.e. Ronaldo to Arsenal etc ? (I always have transfers set to 'only me' but thats not very realistic I know)

Ah I see, thanks for explaining.

I think I'll be starting one with Swansea and the defaults, or maybe a team in Spain. Depends if I can find one that has a kit that I like.

well i've turned Player growth off since i feel it's ridiculous that every player's stats increase 4-7 overall points per season, making every decent player into Messi in a couple of years..

and the transfer set to 'low' makes it bearable since teams will only make 'realistic' transfers, it's crazy if you set it to high.. Ronaldo and Messi will be moving teams every 6 months ffs

Ah ok ive got it set to the Default Setting and I havent really seen any dodgyyy transfers yet. Except Phil Jones to WE/PES United..... ;)

Can anybody link me to a good quality patch for kits and stadia etc?

(The one I downloaded has lots of players missing i.e instead of Lewandowski playing for BVB they have a player called Dortmund)

If anyone can recommend a solid patch it would be appreciated, thank you.
