PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

SO MANY things improved. But like classic KONAMI, a few things ruined. I cannot play a football sim where I am getting upwards of 70% possession every game. I cannot play or take seriously a football sim in 2013, where the CPU doesn't play anything like real football. Players don't run forward all the time, for the full 90 minutes. Players have appreciation of space, losing possession is huge in real football and so players protect the ball by passing it around.

I guess in conclusion the game is just built to be a go forward arcade blast. In that respect, I guess it will succeed. Certainly many things have been improved over 2012. But I am at the end of my tether, I really feel that KONAMI is one of mine, but it may be time to skip a title and wait for the new engine. It has to be time for a mature football simulation to be made, and right now it just isn't happening.

Buy PES 2013 for PC, I'm sure some PC-modders will get rid of cheating and make the CPU play more realistic, ie. have more possession.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

seems like we got our fifa again with all the arcade shite and with all the shiny stuffs...they dont care about gameplay why would they? as long they can sell this to everyone,to a 4 years old,to a woman, to my grandpa who can easily beat anyone and can have fun...because its arcade, RIP PES with the cool simulation like, hardcore though enjoyable gameplay, its time to realize PES is dead and they have no intention at konami to resurrect it because they have the money to sell it otherways now wich they didnt have 7-10 years before so they tried to sell the hardcore players back then

not gonna buy it, but enjoy it for free with yair's patch

What happened to the demo having ten minute matches?

PES Via FB: We received incorrect information prior to release and have confirmed that the demo only has the option for 5 minute matches.

Sorry for any problems we may have caused and we thank you for your understanding.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Okay, here's my final review after several more games this morning.

Last night I crucified the game, this morning I can appreciate things a lot more. Firstly, I re-hooked the game up to my 50" Plasma, and the game does feel different somehow.

For me, demo 2 is still too fast on 0, so I played a good few games on -1. The first thing that struck me was the graphics, I actually think they're pretty damn good. Even the night game, the grass seemed lusher and darker. The players weren't as skatey as when I played the game on my 27" LCD, and the game felt alive.

Passing feels good. On zero assists for everything you can knock balls past their intended targets and overhit balls. Shooting feels good. Atmosphere seems good.

BUT - here comes the same problems, and I just cannot accept them.

1) Human v CPU rules governing how you play

Totally on a different planet to each other. The game plays rather nicely when I have possession and am building up or looking to create. I feel that I still have to get the ball under control and take that extra touch and that I have to be careful with my passing and choices.

The CPU has other forces governing them. Every player (almost) looks to go forward with their first touches. Every player looks to sprint forward with their first touches even. So I am still grabbing the CPU by its coat tails to slow the game down. The AI is bad IMO. Player ID? You must be kidding guys. There are differences between a few players for sure, but what about the most fundamental differences between players in terms of keeping possession? In the space of 1 minute of earth time, Messi lost possession three times and Xavi once, all to silly direct dribbles, bumping into crowds of players. Which brings me onto point 2 -

2) It's the year 2013, and still KONAMI cannot get a grip on CPU player awareness. By that I mean the CPU is never aware of me cutting down space and hardly ever aware that it needs to pass sideways or backwards. Most Barce moves consist of 3/4 passes before possession is lost. Indeed, almost any side in the world is capable of playing the ball round the back for some breathing space to create midfield space, and making 10 passes. It seems every team in this game cannot.

There are some sim elements in there this time around. But a simulation of football it is not. It is just too frantic, too end to end, possession loss by the CPU is a joke, their directness is a joke, and possession stats between the human and the CPU is a joke. As Juve I just had 82% possession against Barcelona. I think it's the highest I've ever had. How many times did I have to go hunting for possession like every time has to against Barcelona.....none? Within 1 second I'd get the ball back.

3) Scripting and dodgy keepers. My last point. I still feel scripting is there in some blatant moments, particularly my favourite now is the human keeper parry into the six yard box for the CPU tap in to rather innocuous shots. This is after they deal efficiently with laser guided shots. I swear some CPU guy hit one shot clocked at 350mph?!?

Conclusion -

SO MANY things improved. But like classic KONAMI, a few things ruined. I cannot play a football sim where I am getting upwards of 70% possession every game. I cannot play or take seriously a football sim in 2013, where the CPU doesn't play anything like real football. Players don't run forward all the time, for the full 90 minutes. i agree what your saying and i experienced most of those problems you encountered, by lowering the speed of the game to -1 the experience is much better with indiviuality more noticeable as well, one thing you should try unless you already have is try playing the game on professional or top player, iv noticed the cpu plays alot more realistic than being on superstar, superstar the cpu is on roids and i dont like playing on that mode at all

you can buy the game and support konami for the base they gave us to work on and then play with my gameplay patch :)

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Absolutely spot on mate. They seem to have the tools to make a real simulation but they choose not to finally. So next year maybe who knows. They are not gonna take my money this year for sure

Aren't you tired of saying "next year" and still pay them for such products?

Don't you understand that is what they want?

They are actually getting rich by offering you the same old shit each year, fixing and correcting the same things, while we go "next year they will fix that...?"

Yes, we are that stupid and we deserve what we get.

a bit seems like it was the meaning of what i wrote but not, just got enough that i buyed the game since pes 6 (since it has online mode) and with only 1 exception (pes 6) it turned out to be a bad decision and a waste of money...and i live in a country where avarage people dont earn 40-50 pounds per day but around 10 and in my country they sell the game for 30-40 pounds aswell

but even then if i choose piracy or to borrow the game from one of my friends to install and play it offline...thats all my decision, even though i dont support this and even if get cought , dont get me wrong but my money went to the wrong place in the last years so dont tell me i didnt support the company enough in the believe i get what they promise every year

How you use your money is your responsibility. The game has demos and it's not like the problems of PES on this gen have been a huge secret only a handful of people knew. You could have easily waited a month before buying and reading here when a lot of people rant about the problems of the game... and then made up your mind if to buy the game or not.

And since you have PES 6, why not continue playing that, there is still a community out there making awesome patches and mods for it and up-to-date-transfers... and save your money until a worthwhile version gets released (maybe PES 2014 or PES 2015) ?

its really hard to make my brain adapt to that graphics

ok ok don't kill me :)

im not angry, its not your fault its not anybodies fault, i have to accept it that there are no decent football games out there for me, i hope will come a talented little group of people and an investor who make games like pes 6-5 or the earlier versions where they focus on the gameplay and on the fans who dont enjoy arcade games like fifa and pes

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

i will agree the cpu does play direct the whole time, that was really disappointing to see. However Yair and jenkey will fix that. I played on PS3 and holly SHIT the graphics are HORRIBLE compared to PC. I could not beleive how bad they looked. Not a worry for me as I will be playing this on PC. Now the gameplay had some great improvements, one touch on zero assist is fantastic, the player movement of your teamates is much improved since 2012. Everything seems more responsive then 2012. First touch is noticeable if you do not use trap button. Overall i am happy, however cpu AI needs to be sorted.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Not to say the final game will be hugely different but I believe it will be subject to some further tweaking and tuning in accordance to factors such as match length and competitive play.. I think even after PC mods get their hands on the demo they will still be tweaking a base code which is focused on delivering a 5min demo experience.

History tells us that what we see now is what we'll get.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

History tells us that what we see now is what we'll get.

I would say pretty much what we will get bar a few tweaks. Regardless, I am enjoying what is on offer at the moment. Not perfect but hugely playable.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I tend to do more off ball defence and when I was playing as Valenacia or Bilbao against the likes of Real or Barca I found that marking players and space and utilising second player press to engage ball carrier had the COM slow down and knock it around far more.

I find that the odd game that I completely dominate possession is normally a game in which I am less disciplined at the back and find myself losing or at least conceding more often.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Online will be the saving grace this year if they get it right. AI is argubably the most difficult aspect to get right in computer games, so really I'm not at all surprised that it wont be much different from last year.

For those of you on the PC, may I direct you toward this thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

some people on here are just never pleased, its a football GAME! thats right GAME! no one cares if u play it "konami isnt getting my money this year" no gives a toss, what do people expect? some of the things people sit and critisize, wow! it is what it is, end of story, u dont want to play then dont, like i said no gives a rats arse if u are gonna buy it or not, so dont come on here and act all melodramatic oh im not gonna buy it this year, fools! sorry for rant :)

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I liked very much demo 1, and I like even more demo 2. Semiassited switching in players with full manual controls is really improved, a lot! If people is going to play full manual through internet I'm going to really enjoy this game, but if people is going to use asssited bars it will be ruined IMO. At least I hope that Konami will give us some kind of filter or indication previous the game that indicates if the person is playing full manual...

I'm buying the game on pc, With kits mods this game is going to be awesome

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Asking once more since I was drowned in replies the first time
Does anybody know anything about the PC demo ?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

That reminds me, I should really pick myself up a couple of 5am Saints and Punk IPA's when out later - will set up a night of PES, Celtic, el Clasico, PES rather nicely.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

anyone know what time it will hit australian playstation store tonight? demo 1 was around 12ish from what i remember?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

If Konami can't improve the night time lighting I may very well upgrade my pc and not get this on Xbox this year. Blessing in disguise maybe lol

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

looks like some peeps aren't happy with demo 2, I suppose it's good that it's not perfect, as we all know Konami will change it before final release.

That Demo time thing seems oddly all over the place, but if the settings say it's five minutes, it's five minutes!

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I found that marking players and space and utilising second player press to engage ball carrier had the COM slow down and knock it around far more.

I mentioned this a while back, I have seen some good possession football from the CPU when it is forced into it. The annoying thing is there is obviously the ability there but unless its absolutely necessary it wont use it, this was also the case in PES2012.
