PES 2012: The Wish List

People actually want Konami to scrap PES 11? Its a fantastic base work with.(FINALLY!) :SS

1 addition is the need to leave your current club and receive offers to join other clubs in Master League.

Adam said on the Podcast that its been in development since PES11 preview codes were going out. Can't wait :...

I'm looking forward to PES 2012 too (might not get to play it much though with going to uni), I can't see them screwing it up, unless;

a) They tear it apart and try something new (i.e. PES6>2008), and fail miserably.

or b) They give in to popular demand and make the game super-quick, easy and arcade-like (i.e. FIFA 08>09).

We'll always have this never-ending discussion no matter what

It's that time of year again. Time for a PES2012 discussion thread Lami?

Oh, and do Konami listen to Adam? Probably not, nor any of our feedback. They surely take it on board, but Seabass and his team have their own vision of a football game whether we like it or not.

Whether we buy or not? I dont think so...
The hardcore are the driving force behind sales... The hardcore are a HUGE influence over people...FIFA despite its licenses had a hard time at the end of last gen...That created FIFA 08....Now this can be the same for KONAMI if they manage to match FIFA at tech level.

first news will hit in March, no doubt about that
i think it will be a press release

I have really high hopes for PES 2012 after playing with Yair's exe gameplay patch. Everyone with the PC version should try it (the version released 26th februari works best at the moment). Just the fixes he has made (quicker decisions from the AI mostly and better keepers) makes such a difference when playing against the AI (especially BAL!). Also that he changed the ball physics so that the ball rolls nice and don't stop quickly makes a huge difference.

If they just fix collisions, ref, ball physics (magnus force on the ball plz FIFA has it since 09) and some other things it will be great. And I don't think that's unlikely either so I think I will be very happy with the game even if it's not "perfect".

PES 2011 is a great foundation to built upon. And with Jon saying they will try to cater the hardcore sim freaks I can't see them fail.

Did somebody say my name ? :WOOT:

I agree. Would like to make it clear that I don't want them to start from scratch, I just said that I would prefer they did than picking up on a old game, completely inadequate to next gen consoles, and trying to do something with it.

I'm an opponent of the next-gen-versions of PES. I don't see so much potential to improve this bad game.
KONAMI destroyed this wonderful game series.

My suggestion is: KONAMI, please go back to PES 6. Start to improve this game.
For now without the next-gen graphics, they're absolute not needed. The gameplay is the most important thing.

It would be absolute fantastic, if they would do it.
And yes, I thought about collect signatures from many PES players in all the PES forums around the world.

So guys. I think we could make it. We only have to be a great crowd, maybe KONAMI change the way to make the future games.
If you're a supporter of this idea, please write it here. Maybe we can open a new thread for this hugeness project.
Maybe it's megalomaniac, but KONAMI have to hear us, the customers.

i agree buddy G-fuss

That's not the way the world works. I would prefer they started a new game from scratch than doing the stuff you suggest. PES 6 isn't a good base to build upon, especially in next-gen consoles, no matter what you think, any game dev will tell you this, it would be suicidal right now.

hey i'm ashamed to say that what ever PES is trying to do FIFA has executed very well..............so is the problem that konami wont get good programers? i mean its been 4 years and waiting for a decent game

I never played the old games as I was a FIFA player until this year but it sounds like you guys should trade in your Xbox 360's and PS3's and go back to the old generation of consoles and play PES 6 and edit the rosters and strips yourselves every year. If gameplay means more than graphics, why don't you do it?

I preferred Formula 1 with V12 engines....action movies from the 80's and 90's and watching Serie A when Milan had the 3 dutchmen and Robbie Baggio was scoring beautiful goals every week....but I'm not going to cry about it all day and collect signatures.

so whats your suggestion do nothing.......cause i believe this where u voice your concerns

Whether we buy or not? I dont think so...

they better do it this year, because the hardcore are getting fed up and leaving.......remember the hardcore loves good football and thats what Winning Eleven was. Not anymore!

Chill out. PES 2011 is an excellent game. Not Konami's best, but it's getting there.

The old games are great fun (I still play alot of PES6 on my PC with some of the great patches that are still made) but they are missing huge things like inertia, first touch, Semi-manual passing (which is the biggest improvement IMO) etc...

The current game is the best simulation of real life football there currently is. Konami should build on it, not scrap it.

Not to say there aren't bugs and mistakes, but they will hopefully be addressed.

G-fuss, I had to merge your posts under one post. Please use "multi-quote" instead of posting 4 times in a row.

An option specifically for substituting players on the pause menu. I don't know what it is but i find the formation screen annoying to use when i just want to make a quick sub and not change anything else around. It might be that i find the cursor thing a bit slow.

I'd love to be able to make that quick easy substitution a la classic pes on the main menu.

Very true. I've the slightest idea why that's been removed.

This got absolutely no replies in the discussion thread so hope it provokes more debate here

I'd really like set pieces reworked for 2012. Set-pieces are such a major factor in today's game, many tight contests are often decided on a set piece and for some teams its their main weapon.

Free-kicks
* currently COM freekicks which are not direct shots are terrible and usually end up being overhit and going out for a goalkick.
* would like to see those dangerous inswinging freekicks which sometimes result in a direct goal as the keeper is too busy worrying about someone getting a touch.
* keepers to come and miss crosses, come and punch crosses, stay on their lines depending on real life skills/tendencies.
* rework lay-off freekicks
* let me reduce numbers in my wall, I don't need a 3 man wall for 45m freekicks

penalties
* I don't mind the new penalty system or view but I find the COM keeper stays rooted on the spot too often instead of diving. COM penalty takers also hardly ever shoot high. Add these together and penalties become too easy.

corners
* we can choose who goes up for corners, why cant we choose who stays back? been caught on some stupid counter-attacks because the AI decided keeping only 1 defender back would be fine.
* implement short corner routines, you'll see these so often late in games when teams just want to keep the ball in the corner.

throw-ins
* seems like everyone can do a long throw, making the long throw special skill pretty redundant. there should be a more obvious difference between those who can and those who cant.
* in fact re-work throw ins completely, there is absolutely no movement and options are very limited.
* in game plan you can select FK, PEN and COR takers but cant designate a throw in taker. Stupid, if you play against Stoke and they get a throw-in in the final third, Delap will not be taking the throw unless he is specifically playing SM on the side the ball has gone out.

Also another one that has been removed and no idea why.

Shielding the ball, I don't know why they took that one out, it's an important element of real football to shield the ball and slow the game down. It should be in again and work against a single opponent, to shield a ball against two or more defenders/opponents should only be possible for the best dribblers on the planet.

Game play
- I hate when ball bounces back when it hits teammates...sometimes it can happen, but in reality, teammates will let ball pass instead of becoming just piece of rock in the middle of the field

Online
- cup mode in community
- iphone and droid app to check scores and manage community
- guest mode to watch other games within community

Teams
- bring bundesliga

Editing
- more stadiums + better stadium editing..very hard to make stadium close to reality

I think a good addition would be that on throw ins, a player would have to actively get the ball from a ball boy or the crowd, and when throwing you can move up and down the touchline slightly like in real life - move too far and the throw in goes the other way.

Also sort long throw-ins out. They are rubbish.

Free kicks - Again if the ball is rolling loose its up to the controlling player to get the ball back and place it then take it. You could do it as quickly or as slowly as you like. Too slow and your player gets booked.

Think this would add a touch of realism.

Finally. Stop the automatic taking of kick-offs.

One thing that annoyes me is the off the ball movement. When I'm with ball in possession in midfield, over pressured, there's no player getting close to give option to pass the ball around. As in real life, to make my play style more possible, some midfielder must get close or, if he's already close enough but still on the danger area, he should make two steps back to receive the ball properly on the less pressured area.

YouTube - Barca's 30 passes and ending with final attempt!!!

Here's an example of players always getting close and at 0:17 to 0:20 you can see a player getting back to recieve the ball on a safe space.

That's what i like to play, making short passes around, atacking slowly, with good passes variation in slow pace, but football games nowadays are simply not good enough to make this a really good play style.

Another problem: Maicon (inter milan) is always supporting the attack from the right side irl, so when i'm with the ball in possesion with some midfielder close to him (Maicon), I hold the close control for a secound and expect him to go a bit forwar to give option for a short manual through pass to him, but he simply does nothing, he stays there close to the half line. This is ridiculous. Even when I try to make a 1-2 with Maicon, he runs in diagonal to the gaol post direction, when he should simply runs straight forward.

I like to make short manual passes into space and attack in slow pace, but football games have serious problems to make it really rewardable. Say waht you want, but fooball games are still not good enough for this

I think there will never be a really sim game into the short 15 mins. Fast paced passes forward and through balls to the wings with big teams (btw I hate Real Madrid in football games) will always be the better option, that's the videogame play style.

Replicating my play style, which is clearly more complexive, will never work as it should. That's my major frustration. I don't want my lay style to be unbeatable, but to be more possible and more rewardable. The AI off the ball movement and the passing (and even ball physiscs) are not dynamic and organic enough.

Pes 2011 is a good game after all, mainly if you compare it to the previous one, it shows good potential for the next PES, but it's still far from what i expect for a football game.

excellent post mate, my sentiments exactly!

Improve graphics, it's terrible(If there weren't Kitserver LOD and etc. i would really bought FIFA), Need DX11, Anti Aliasing "AA", and many new animations, you can be best of best but without new graphic it's impossible...

Ability to change teams in ML.
Ability to change your kits during ML. (if i select Arsenal, their sponsor is Nike and it would give me some examples of kits for next season and also to foresee my opinion of new kit)
3rd kit also need...
Easier free kicks/penalty system.
Individual game mode for Europa League - and also Copa Libertadores if possible.
Improved goalkeepers.* !!!
Improved referees.* !!!
(i want referees to be more strict, now it's impossible to get red card, and sometime gives me in a stupid situation)
Variations in corners - especially cross power.
Height/Width adjustments in Camera Type.
Weather is terrible, can't understand it's raining, night day afternoon or what. sometime i think this people hasn't seen real weather...
and main: last year i've asked you to make COM difficulty, level is very low/easy, my 10 years old brother win them easy, so please make new level like "Superstar" which will be impossible to win them...

fix the movement of players, it seems labored when you are moving. especially when engaging an opponent. The A.I sometimes don't recognize the ball just because they are not selected, or if they are on a run, they won't break it off. Or they don't keep their run when you are attacking, they break it off too early.
give players the ability to handle lob passes better, they seem to not be able to take advantage of those opportunities. ( they cant even get a good shot off when the ball is dropping)
stop the A.I from slide tackling in the box (have them clear the ball automatically, within a yard or two off the goal line instead)
allow the player to hit one time shots(offense) , or clear the ball (defense) one time. if we want to control the ball, we wont press square to shoot or clear.
The motion of shooting needs some work, i'm not sure what. it just doesn't seem convincing
When players are running, they have momentum. If i run full tilt and stop with the ball, the A.I stops on a dime right beside me. That's unrealistic, how are you supposed to get separation
Ball physics needs adjusting
Cursor switching speed needs to be adjustable
Champions League, Libertadores, Leagues and Cup - only into the Master League; I think it's not interesting to play those cups and leagues a part of the Master League; Why? Because you can't negotiate new players, improve skills of the players.. there is no continuity at all;
Career Mode: you are a coach that starts in a club( any club you want ) then you can receive proposals from other clubs... like in the Become a Legend... you improve as a coach and other clubs wants to hire you, make contracts proposals, wages, renew contracts.. all that stuffs. After some time you want to coach other team, but the game doesn't give this option yet.
Update others leagues(from others continents if you want to) I think everyone has the right to play the league from you own country, so if KONAMI gives the option to download a new cup or league( OR CREATE IT IN ANY CONTINENT, NOT ONLY IN EUROPE ), it would be a great improvement for the game.. it will attract more users, even who likes FIFA most.

can we send our wish/request to PES/konami support ???

I don't care about licenses and extra eye-candy stuff as long as they improve the general gameplay, AI and hopefully the animations.

the 2 ultimate gameplay changes required.

1) Remove through-pass, since manual pass is available today.

2) Remove auto-cross, all versions, from single tap to triple tap.

And then then can say, we have achieved simulation, game-play wise.

Everytime people talk about graphics they don't understand it's the animations that suck.
Everytime people talk about licenses they don't understand we have people who edit.
Everytime people talk about what they want, they are basically saying they want to play a game that does exactly what they want.

people want the game to pass like they want so cpu and other can't grab the ball.
People want total controll so they can cheat the entire match by doing tricks, which never happens in real life.
Etc
Etc
Etc

Pes 2011 is the most realistic football game ever made. Just because you had good experiences with pes 6 doesn't mean it's better than 2011. It certainly isn't more realistic.

If you would watch a football match and later on play pes 2011 you can see how good pes 2011 is in cathing real life football.

Pes 2011 has allot of bugs, stupid AI and much more that makes me mad. but it certainly is better than all FIFA's and PES combined.

I believe pes2012 will be a great game.
We need:
Fix bugs
Fix player switching
Fix AI
fix atmosphere.
Fix animations
and for the love of god: replace the commentators. YouTube - PES 2011 | FIFA World Cup Commentary Patch - Liverpool vs Chelsea Highlights Gameplay Trailer [HD]

Can you hear the difference. it adds so much to the atmosphere.

Commentary made for a different game manages to sound way better than the commentary made for the actual game. Ace.

It doesn't fit perfectly but you know why i think that commentary sounds pretty good? It works because it's basic and they comment solely only on things happening in the game in a short and sweet manner (i.e saying the players name or declaring a tackle was good or a player missed a good chance or a sub is coming on). No trying to talk way too much in order to fill the silence and it sounding really unnecessary. I just usually turn it off, even on lowest the quality question is still an issue.

OT: I was reading a blog piece on the guardian's website earlier on about how commentators treat viewers as having no attention span and feeling the need to natter on about things constantly and rather unnecessarily. In regards to video games it began in FIFA (Gray and Tyler going off tangent such as talking about themselves or a stadium, club's history, supporters or Tevez and his 'bulldog-like approach' ad nauseum) and it seems to me that is what PES is trying to emulate that kind of style, albeit way unsuccessfully at the moment. Hyperbole and cliches.

Maybe one thing they can do around the licensing issue is to include a list of real names in the commentary database that are not available via the default player names. That way if you correct the name of the player on the shirt, you can select the correct commentary name also. Like maybe include the classic players and the Bundesliga or whatever isn't already there but usually included by option file makers. Any thoughts?
