I never tried Top Player. I'm always on Professional and get hammered by Barca. Last one was 4-0 I think. PS3 here.

Same here, im on pc and ps3, getting crunched by Barca every time.
3-0, 4-0. Lots of throughballs for them. I struggle to get a single shot on goal.

It just hit me! Why i love the PES dribbling and why i think FIFA needs to learn from PEs's system.

Seeing this genius goal here from Di Maria:
YouTube - Real Sociedad 0 - 1 Real Madrid [matchhighlight.com]

See the way he feints and twists when taking on his man! It's what this PES game excels in. When you move the left stick, you basiclly just controling the players body movement and you don't neccesarily have to move the ball.
If you have got used to dribbling with Iniesta etc.. you will notice this specially when you lightly touch the left stick you can change his posture and swivel and drop the shoulder like Di Maria does in Real life. hence the natural feeling when dribbling!

With FIFA when you move the left stick, it's like the player and ball are glued together as a entity. Also, with it's animations it feels like the player is gliding with a ball stuck to him rather than dribbling!

So despite all this FIFA has a better engine belief. PES has a system here and other systems which is revolutionary and the 'next' step in terms of football games development!

This highly interests me! I wonder if i send this as an idea to EA if they could implement PES's system? They would literally have to rip out the system they have in place and build a new one. I'd say they should stick with what they have and make the best of it until the PS4 arrives  then start from afresh :)

Xbox live in Japan has Fifa ranked 4.5/5 stars.
But Winning Eleven only has 2.5/5 stars.
I am really suprise not what i would expect from that region.

You no what I dont care what mag, website or who ranks FIFA or PES. Its what the player thinks, and this player here feels very positive about PES for the first time in 3 years. FIFA is good also, so for the first time ever I think we actually have 2 decent games out. Roll on October. :BOP:

Immature kids have been around deliberately lowering 'PES' ratings on the demos and boosting FIFA's

On the EA forums, many people from the the UK and Europe made Japanesee accounts to get the FIFA demo early, it's those lot :)) !

I've been playing this game the whole day and now i think i'm starting to dominate the passing system and how the movements (on and off the ball) work.

And I can tell you: this game is the best football game in history.

I just need to see a bit more challenging Ai in terms of attack in the final game. But seriously, even we9 can't touch the dynamism of this game if you really dominate it.

Dominate the pass to put the ball into short spaces, know how you can pass and move and keep possesion, protect the and etc. This game can be INSANE!!

From my particular experience of the latest matches, i'm starting to understand what guys like Jimmy say about the game.

Ah, and one more thing: there's something I have to disagree with some of you guys here: nothing comes close to Bayer vs Barcelona IN -1 SPEED. Internacional vs Chivas match isn't better imo.

Really? I've been getting worried that the CPU offensive AI may be too weak - I'm finding defending pretty easy. I suck at shooting though so it works out okay for me.

It always makes me smile when I read the words 'Robotic' and 'Clunky'. I completey understand why people say these things after playing the silky smooth Fifa, but understanding why it's like this is it's beauty. Like I have said so many times, it's these 'clunky' and 'robotic' movements that provide us with all the relevant angles required to simulate the players limbs, posture and body movement. These varying factors are what then create the percentage based errors, or, posture perfect consequence of passing, shooting, and touch. It may not be as pretty on the eye as the perfectly formed 360' movement of Fifa, but it is highly realistic. And it opens the door to almost infinite variables, especially when combined with individual player statistics that are also open to even more variety due to the condition and form arrows that replicate consistency.

It's all very , very clever stuff, and thats what makes me smile, the fact that alot of people seem to overlook it, and denounce it, in favour of a silky smooth visual that does anything but mirror the nature and technique it's trying to replicate. It's back to the old philosophies, one is aimed to look realistic, the other, to 'feel' realistic. And thats the bottom-line, whether you like it or not.

Wow, hallelujah! Thank you for that piece of wisdom Jimmy. I've been quietly viewing forums and reading discussions on PES and Fifa, and your post hits the nail on the head. (If people took in your comment and recognized the use of super cancel, the importance of timing, and the intricacies of the analog stick--d-pad in the golden days--they would improve their game exponentially.)

It seems that there is a depth of randomness in PES that is purely user imprinted. Just picture the typical PES scramble and the resulting bobble of the ball that falls nicely into your path for recovering it or setting up a strike or finish.

All the while playing PES 5 (my first Pro Evo purchase), I could not explain myself the rare instances of jerkiness. But recently I have really got to grips and appreciated the sharp, short feints, the twitch animations, the drop shoulder feint, even though I can't deliberately perform it with any consistency . . . "Curse you Seabass!" . . . not to mention that I am posing a serious threat to my brother's PES supremacy, that I have cracked the tactics menu in full depth, and that I am enjoying playing ML for the first time, reaching my third season w/ default players on PES 2008 PS2.

Not having played any current gen PES editions, I am nonetheless aware of its struggles, but at the same time I can feel something good in the air for PES, sticking to their main motto of skilled football, although I worry about convoluted preset trick animations whose main aim are to catch the eye of the casual gamer.

Lol, Klashman. You got it spot on too. I wanted to give you credit since I completely agree w/ your post (except I don't get the bold part).

To be pretty honest I always play Bayern vs Barça with the default tactics and I just don't know what is to lose in PES2011. I won't win most of my games, but I just don't loose. Almost every game I don't conceed. But I couldn't understand the defence system 100% yet.

I'm using Professional as well. Had a pretty interesting experience last night. I managed to beat Barca for the first time 3-2. Before the game started, I went into gameplan and deleted everything and did my own tactics. It worked very well. Was leading 3-1 comfortably till the end when I got a bit complacent, but hung on for the last few minutes.

The next match, I did the same tactics. However, the result was anything but the same. They blitzed me 4-0! Their attacking play was simply breathtaking. Their movement, their dribbling, their passes. All exactly like the real Barca. I was pretty much just watching with my jaws dropped the whole time.

That's why I'm confused when people say the CPU attacking is not great. Every match I play, Barca does attack fluently. Some matches I keep them out, some like the 4-0, I don't.

I think I need to knock the difficulty down to Professional because I always play Top Player and I'm certainly not seeing those numbers. usually it's a 0-0 or a 1-0.

I would love to download that 32 team patch for the pc but I've got no clue what to do... Bah..

Me either. Someone enlighten us and I mean you really have to post an idiots guide as I don't have a cooking clue how PC gaming works (from a patching perspective) as sad as that may sound

Dudes read the readme file that comes with the patch. copy and paste job:))

Yeah same here. Tried to access the UK store via the PS3 after opening a UK account online no luck that way. Don't know why Konami won't allow US users easy access to the demo via the PS store. Surely they must know you can't get the demo. EA has a large presence right there on the first page of the demos.
Getting an appreciation of the 2010 version since I can't play the demo. What a great game it is. If 2011 is even a slight improvement over that I will be happy enough.

huh, i am in the us and i downloaded UK demo by using UK psn profile, just google how to do it

I went round to my mates house for a bit of knees up yesterday. There was a few of us there and practically everyone was a professional Fifa player :p

So we played that, and predictably it was a dreadful sprint festival. Rugby style tackling. Ice Hockey pace. No need for build up play. Basically everything I hate about the game was there. In abundance. I stuck with it, and to be honest it was fun in a way, because you're playing your mates and it's a laugh. We played 2 on 2 and everytime you conceded a goal you had to down a shot. We lost the first game 6-0 and decided to call it a day - 5 of the 6 goals being chips by the way.

So we had a go of the PES11 demo i was the only one in the room who a) - liked it, and b) - could play it.

"Eh that wasn't a foul" (believe me, they were fouls).

"Why does he turn like that?"

"It's too slow"

"Why don't my players make runs?"

Everyone hated it, because it's not as accessible as Fifa. Players don't do exactly what you want them to do all the time. whereas with Fifa, my mates were crooning over how realistic it was, despite the fact that John Terry was doing kick ups on the halfway line....oh and Ashley Cole was Drogba's strike partner.

So when i left the party, i fired up PES11 on the PC and decided to play two 20 minute games as Internacional, of course against Chivas.

The first game ended 0-0. Not a rugby tackle in site. Pace was beautiful. Passing was a joy. In fact everything about it was a joy. I then played match number 2 and lost 2-1. Basically i played for 40 minutes on top player, and a paltry 1 goal was my reward. :SMUG:

And that's why i love the game. That goal, despite it coming in the 90th minute when i was already 2-0 down had me punching the air. It was a tap in for god sake. I'll explain....

Chivas decided to play 9 men behind the ball for the remainder of the game. Fair enough, as they were 2-0 up. Now this in itself is quite amazing. They dropped off to the edge of the 18 yard box. I'm not kidding. Sandro would have an acre on the ball in the centre of the pitch. Kleber would push forward to offer me a bit of width. Edu would do likewise on the opposite side. D'Alessandro would drop deep to collect the ball. I'd already taken Guinazu off and replaced him with Guliano to give me more attacking options. My style of play would revolve around moving the ball quickly, before either getting it out wide to put one into the box, or moving the ball quickly enough to give D'Alessandro enough time to slide a pass through, or over the top for Taison to bury.

Now this had never happened to me on any Fifa game. I've rarely ever bothered even changing tactics when losing, as the same exploits are available regardless of what formation I am playing.

So i managed to pull a goal back. D'Alessandro rolled Edu in, he pulled it back to Taison, and he guided/mis-kicked it :p, into the roof of the net. Game on I thought, but then I looked at the clock. Game over.

They were too amazingly enjoyable games. After my afternoon of Fifa with the Fifa professionals, I've decided I can no longer be bothered to explain why Fifa just doesn't get it when it comes to actual football. I'd tried all afternoon. Maybe some people are beyond help. Haha.

Pes11 has nailed it. Hail Seabass. :WORSHIP:

I played around with the Management Edit tactics last night, they are very good. I like the fact you can preset tactics based on intervals during the match and for situations like being level, being ahead, and trailing. For example, I set it for All-Out Attack if I either went behind on goals or was level between 60-90 minutes. Also, If I was leading with 30 mins to play, I preset my tactics to defensive possession. So many different options you have available to you, so you can plan in advance for any eventuality, and let your players change tactics to suit with immediate effect.

Also, for the first time that I can ever remember, on any PES game, I played with Barcelona. Oh my lord, after playing only with the Copa teams, the difference was like night and day. None of the teams I ever play with in PES even has one player that I can honestly say is anywhere near the level of any Barcelona player. To have 10 players of this class made the game very easy. This is one of the reasons I dont play with these type of teams. As fun as it is to have everything on a plate for you, I dont find it as much of a challenge. Some of the goals I scored, and the football that was created, really was the epitome of sexy in the footballing context.

One thing is forsure though, playing exclusively with the lesser teams, massively improves your game, as alot more thought is needed. When you then go from playing with the likes of Lille, Peru, Chivas and Internacional, to the likes of Barcelona, you feel like greatest PES player that has ever lived. :WOOT:

Only just got round to playing the demos on friday as I've been away all week!

They introduced this element in Pes 2009 with the d-pad dribbling. Simply moving the stick allows you to do jinks and drop your shoulder, especially with the R2 button. It's been developed to an even better stage with 2010 and now 2011, especially now you have more degrees of movement. Players like Ribery, Robben and Messi feel awesome when doing this.

Been playing it on the patched PC version. Ratface is a totally different player to anyone on the game! Everything, his animations, his shooting, his dribbling angles!

Thing is i played the FIFA 11 demo and Ratface just looked an felt like a cartoon :CONFUSE: His running animations god awful! Yeah the tricks are all there but when Messi, Diego and Amauri can do the same it loses it's novelty! :TTTH:

I agree about the individuality sucking on FIFA - but how would Ronaldo's animations be in this demo? Surely they only added the animations that would be used by the default demo players?

My keeper just came up for a corner... but I was winning at the time so I'm sure it must have been something I'd pressed. Is there a button or some trick to bring your keeper up for any corner you want or is this a glitch?

I know there is a command list page thing but I've not spotted anything in that about bringing a keeper up for a corner
