PES 2011 Discussion thread

Can someone explain the new trick controls please?

I've been playing it for a few days now but I'm not too sure about them.

So, in the menu for creating trick sequences - is that L1 or L2 to perform them? What about the 4 tricks using L2 and right stick - can you change them as well?

Just for record, I tried a hypothesis last night on the demo, to basically confirm or disregard my instincts that having a lower fatigue level has a detrimental effect on the players shooting abilities. I found that this is certainly the case. It's not that I disbelieve what Konami say, but until I have witnessed and felt it myself, then I cant buy into it. I tested it with both the Copa teams, and found that a prolonged run with a player can cause less power and accuracy. I tried to use the same body angles, postures, distance from the ball when attempting the strikes, and the difference is quite dramatic, and more evident later in the game.

I really like how they have done this, and it answers the question for me about the blue bar above the players heads, and it's visual relevance. I think it's a great way to prevent sprint spamming, and at the same time offers up a great level of realism. Anybody that plays football in real life will testify to how this exact same scenario occurs within the real game. Very happy with it.

That's really good news, but I suppose you tested only with copa teams, right? Does the hypothesis 'hold the water' when using teams far more blessed with stamina and tenacity? Care to retest with Barca? Messi has 73 for stamina, Ibra 78, rest of the starting 11 are well above 80.

Apparently pressing R1 at the point at which your receive the ball (not just spamming it but measuring when you press it) makes you sprint faster with the ball. Worth a try to see if there's a genuine difference.

another thing, the ps3 pads are very unconfortable to play pes, because the "r" buttons. anyone have some diferent system about the pads?

I deliberately didnt try the big guns as I felt that it would be harder to spot, such is the wealth of talent across the board.

can anybody tell me if the pc version is better than the ps3 version?

Gameplay wise it's the same, but the graphics are much better imo, if you have a decent set-up. I play on with HD 4890 card, using a 1080p, 24 inch monitor. That graphics on PES10 PC are much better than they are for the PS3, and that is saying something, considering there's not a lot wrong with the PS3 version graphically.

There's also the editing potential as there are loads of patch makers, who add leagues, teamsn, faces, kits, stadiums etc.

I'll be buying on both this year anyway. I'll be buying on ps3 solely to join Jimmy's league and to hopefully destroy him :PIRATE:

But yeah, if it was a straight choice, PC wins hands down for me.

Yeah this is one of the first things i noticed. When playing with Bayern, i push Ribery and Robben out wide, to get them in a 1 v 1 position with the full back. You have to be very selective with the sprint button, as the stamina icon turns red very easily.

When this happens passing isn't as accurate, the player isn't as sharp and shooting is weaker and less accurate.

It's a brilliant idea. I love the direction in which Konami have gone. Looking back at PES10, it's easy to see what they were trying to do. I've come to the conclusion that it will be very hard for a lot of Fifa players to make the switch to PES11. Completely different game. I've already played the demo against a few Fifa players, and none of them really liked it, which is odd imo. Brilliant game.

I must repeat just for the sake of it: Best footbal videogame ever made. In a week with this demo i used my footballing brain much more than i ever did with 3 or 4 iterations of fifa. Simply amazing depth and learning/mastering curve. Outstanding Konami. Keep it up Seabass.

Cant get enough of pes2011,everyday im finding hidden little nuances, and when im not playing it im thinking about it,and ive hardly had any sleep in almost a week.

If it isnt the perfectly engineered passing system that after almost a week feels like ive used it forever, its the ability to put manual varying amounts of spin on the ball as well as threading the ball through the eye of a needle(or barcas defence with bayern).Im ending most games now with 60% plus possession on top player and just passing and spraying the ball back and fourth all over the pitch using the passing triangles and creating space for my player to run into.

For the guys that are downloading tomorrow make sure you go the edit management screen and clear the presets, adding your own or opt for auto trigger and set the game to super offensive. The offensive runs your players make and the positions they get themselves into is breathtaking,if you want to see demonstrated, how attacking football should be mirrored in a football game opt for this preset.

I even love the keepers and the unpredictability of the ball as your never sure who its going to dink off or in which direction, which is football, the balls a entity in itself.

This game is so perfectly engineered, not to overcooked ala fifa and not undercooked like pes2010,for me konami have got the balance right of producing something relatively accessible but also offering the hardcore player almost infinite depth just like all the best games have.

Roll on the release it cant come soon enough for me!

This games like fine wine,it gets better.Everythings so SUBTLE,diffinetly one for those with soft hands, because the games so responsive you have to get the power ratios and the movement ratios hardwired into your brain....then the MAGIC starts!.

For me 20 years of konami football games rolled into one perfectly executed product, this is a classic!.

The demo might not give you all the game modes of the full version but its enough to demonstrate the quality of the gameplay this year and a taste of the tactics system which while at first seems a little daunting is designed to be as user friendly and as comprehensive as possible.Konami have certainly given us a lovely virtual playground to play with,or the tools to create the finest footballing tapestry ones mind can conjure up.

Theres the odd glitch or animation glitch(what game doesnt have these),but its rare and most of the time what you think is a bug when replayed in a replay is realistic ball or player behaviour.

Thats fighting talk where I come from. Luckily for you........I moved.

Hey guys. A question about the stamina. Hasn't it always been in previous PES? like if a player is tired, that triangle would appear over his head, and you can't really run much or pass well.

And in other news, just 8 more hours to the PC demo! i just cant wait. how many of you playing the ps3 demo will dl the pc one?

Yes, stamina/fatigue has always been there, thing is in PES2011, the stamina will affect how the player shoots and the accuracy of passing etc, if they are knackered they are more likely to miss the target.

I'll be downloading the PC demo for sure.

Oh okay. Thought it always did affect their passing and shooting. Maybe i was wrong. Thanks Simcut. Have you tried both top player and professional? which one do you prefer?

I'm not too sure on Nvidia graphics cards as i have no experience in using them so i don't quite know how powerful yours is. Have you tried to run any previous PES games on it?

I prefer more of a challenge, you really have to work your arse off to score and create opportunities on goal in Top Player. I've always preferred playing Top Player.

What I would recommend is when trying the demo drop the difficulty down, so you can get used to the passing and you get more time on the ball and get used to the feel of the game, it's a lot different from PES2010, that's for sure!

From my experience, low stamina always affected shooting and passing, and more fatigue meant higher chances of injury.
