It's a brilliant idea. I love the direction in which Konami have gone. Looking back at PES10, it's easy to see what they were trying to do. I've come to the conclusion that it will be very hard for a lot of Fifa players to make the switch to PES11. Completely different game. I've already played the demo against a few Fifa players, and none of them really liked it, which is odd imo. Brilliant game.

Which is why it turned off a lot of players. A brilliant game once you got under its skin, but an acquired taste if there ever was one. They had the foundations of AI, tactical depth and increased individuality in there, but without the fluidity of animations, increased freedom of movement and passing that 2011 has. It's definitely leaning towards the sim angle and is more hardcore again, and harder to play as an obvious result.

its hard to score thats why. pointless view. worse bit of PES. how do you aim? up and down keys? what if im playing wide camera view with value 9 set for the angle? do aim using top-left corner of the stick and bottom right corner?

umm im in a rush to post so i will be swift and quick:


  • Graphics are amazing
  • Player animations as good as fifa
  • Passing is miles better then fifa(no more ping pong!)
  • shooting is better than fifa i.e. less floaty long shots than fifa
  • player physics are spot on
  • Pace of the gameplay is spot and can be set
  • Tactics/formats are nearly as deep as football manager games and no contest between fifa
  • Passing is excellent. opps did i mention that already? its the best part of the game imho. takes time to master and like i said, no ping pong bullshit.
  • defensive AI is great! you need to really work the ball to even get an attempt on goal
minuses:

  • hate the penalty view. it sucks and hard to score penalties
  • sound effects could be better and more real in terms of the ball kitting the cross bar and whenever the player kicks the ball but the stadium chants and sound are great.
  • Replays for every freaking free kick!
Other then that. its a day 1 purchase for me on the pc due to huge mod community available for it. this is the return to form of PES. their is no ifs or buts.
 
One of the main criticisms of PES seems to be the animations, but I don't think they look too bad. The shooting animations in particular seem realistic and relevant in their use, and they seem to match the trajectory the ball takes.

One thing I havn't seen yet is inside of the foot curling shots from distance - I know there's the "controlled shot" but no videos I've seen have shown it used outside the box. I will try it tomorrow :).
 
In the old PES versions you could just trap the ball with your back to a defender and let go of the pad, and the player would shield.

EDIT: shielding is still done the same way. Just have your player's back facing the defender and don't press anything.

oh fgs I just scored a scissor kick from around the corner flag in line with the goal with Xavi it went high over the keepers head and into his goal as he was looking at someone in the crowd. I shit you not. I don't want to post the vid.

:CONFUSE: lets hope thats a one in million glitch, although it would be funny to see.

edit oh dear not funny at all,just seen Auto's video, that just looks plain stupid

I know the goal is crappy - but really... why on earth would anyone ever press shoot in that position anyway?

OMG I was thinking about this; we see these awesome goals in youtube (atleast to the younger crowd), and you have to think that these players actually press the shoot button when the football players are in barely any position to have a go at the ball; it's ridiculous on the players part just as much as the game.

I'd never ever think about pressing the shoot button from that distance and height.
