PES 2011 Discussion thread

I dont think MS s got anything to do with this, its obvious Konami were always on the side of Sony against MS, thats it.

We don't really know the exact truth, except the fact that Sony is giving Plus members a special. If they were always still on Sony's side then I fail to see why they've been releasing PES games since PES 6 til this day on the 360. Remember the first "next-gen" game was introduced on the 360 as well? Microsoft paid a good amount for that. It's just bizniz.

Obvious? Not really lol.

Sony just approved the demo first, with a special offer (according to Jon Murphy) from them to have the demo earlier for PSN+ users. PC demo doesn't need approval and Microsoft is slow as hell.

Sorry Jason but you'll have to keep chats in English in here. If you must chat in your language please feel free to do so in PM.

Thanks.

I'd also like to ad that there is a difference between the words "there", "their" and "they're", for all the, ahem, native english speakers :D

OPM said: "Pes seems to have become entrenched in arcade territory. The eight-way directional controls feel more constrictive than in previous games, animations dont flow and the ball seems tethered to your feet like a bad comedy routine. it breaks the the illusion of of real football"

The only explanation I have for this is that they're playing PES 2008 instead. I have other possible explanations but I'm leaving them out of here for now.

Damn, that's not good! But I'll make up my own mind tomorrow with the demo.

What really bothers me is that today a Spanish site reported something really similar.

http://todowe.blogspot.com/2010/09/teknoconsolas-konami-de-nuevo-en-fuera.html

I really wonder what game are these people playing, or what kind of intentions is there to put out such claims... I mean, I have played the beta, and it is far from this.

However, actually, there is one bad experience that I would like to relay.

when in gamescom, the first match I played was at a console with an unofficial controller - to be honest, I think it was an XBox, with a controller that mimics the PS3 one in terms of keypad/analog position (you know, the joystick on the bottom).

I tried to play with the analog, since I've played the beta using the analog... What a surprise to me that their analog stick was NOT 360º analog, but felt like a joystick on top of a DPad (i.e. it moved only in 8 directions).

I was absurdely shocked, to say the least, since I couldn't get the passes to go to where I wanted them to go, many of them going astray - even the simpler ones.

Needless to say, I dropped the demo at half time, and proceeded to queue up behind a PS3 console with a real Sony Sixaxis pad. Of course, playing there felt right at home, with the 360º movement.

I sincerely doubt that these guys are all playing using fake analog sticks, right?... right? :|

Well, 24h to go before I get the demo at home.

Regards,

Paulo Tavares

As one of the MLO beta testers, I can tell you this is 110% bullshit. But yeah, people will have the chance to see it for themselves tomorrow (or next week).
I am afraid that many online testers are PES lovers so their opinion is maybe not very objective, OPM has very good reviews, so if this is true...

really.....really?

Just scouring both the U.S and UK OPM pages on metacritic you can see that they're hardly objective compared to some of the more grounded sources (eurogamer, EDGE magazine)

FIFA 08 delivers a pretty complete soccer package that we still hope will improve as the specter of pressure from Konami's "Pro Evolution Soccer" looms on the horizon. [Holiday 2007, p.84]

For the on-field experience, PES is an astounding recreation of the beautiful game, and we just hope that the license restrictions are alleviated by 09. [May 2008, p.76]

I think i've made a pretty good point for a change.

The reviews will be shocking because simply their minds are already made up, The same way FIFA 08 got much lower scores than PES 2008.

Having read that spanish review it seems very very amateurish. I mean, badly written, badly explained and with some oppinions that are quite childish. In fact, the reviewer conders that having any sort of "manual pass" is crap because you have to adjust direction and force, making a lot of his passes go ashtray and making the game slow.

So, this must be the kind of people that plays Fifa and doesn't even know that manual is the way to go.

I haven't played the beta and maybe some of the things that the reviewer says are true, but the review is crap and his vision of a footy game is quite "casual" to say something.

I'm so happy tomorrow will be pes demo time

so happy to see how those so called journalists will be put to shame by gamers opinions

i'm sure pes 2011 will not be a perfect game, but they are describing it as worse than pes 2010

"Pes seems to have become entrenched in arcade territory. The eight-way directional controls feel more constrictive than in previous games, animations dont flow and the ball seems tethered to your feet like a bad comedy routine. it breaks the the illusion of of real football"

in this part they talk like pes 2010 directional controls is better than 2011...

this can be defined only with the word JOKE
