PES 2011 Discussion thread

Lami, I haven't played any of the beta code so I can't really judge, but from watching all the videos I am a bit worried about the physics of the ground passes, particularly low passes into open space: Maybe it's only me, and maybe it's not an issue while actually playing, but it appears to me that the ball slows down unnaturally towards the end of its trajectory instead of just bobbling along (as you would expect), almost as if it had a build-in hand brake. Someone on WENB aptly said, that it feels like the ball was filled with water instead of air. What's your take on that actually having played the code?

Thx.

Yep it does, not all the time though. At times it keeps bobbling along like you say, while at other times it does that. Not sure if that's got to do with pass accuracy tbh, it just feels weird, not game breaking though.

Can't wait to get my hands on the demo. I want to play this game offline. There are some things I just can't judge yet because all games are played online obviously, so not sure if it's the online code "lag" interfering.

You will find that is pass accuracy. If you watch lower league football the ball has some lift off and does bobble due to their lower ability to pass.

R1+R2. It depends, there are times where you can intercept balls without using Super Cancel, others you can't. I've even heard some people complain that they had too much "freedom" in the players positioning.

They sound like they don't have a clue. It's not freedom that makes them struggle - it's the imprecision of movement combined with the CPU occasionally overriding your controls. If you could fine tune your position on the pitch with enough precision to not over/undershoot where they want to be then they'd be much better off.

That dribbling stuff you linked to earlier sounds nothing like the knock-on in FIFA btw.

It's an early code, it's pre-season, the groundsman hasnt been in to cut the grass yet.

The game has added "Freedom" to passing but I'd say the dribbling could add much more angles and it could "feel" less clunky when controlling more nimble players. The game has a good base at the moment but a lot things need to be fleshed out (some probably already have since the Beta is E3 code) in the builds that have been made since and also the coming years.

I agree. It feels good playing it specially a slow paced game of football, but of course far from perfect.

OMG what were Konami thinking with the trapping animation
That's a ridiculous movement just to move a sphere filled with air.

What i don't like in pes 2011 is that shooting from diagonal direction is far too acurate for almost all players, and that's wrong.

If there's no pressure behind and no defender to block it, it's 98% to get in. That's ridiculous tbh.

That's so not true. Or at least, I don't agree with you. Only players with good shooting stats will score from there when given space, and occasionally some other lucky lad. Try to score goals like that with the default ML players, lol.

Ridiculous? Any fairly good attacker/midfielder will score from there if not under pressure or being blocked.

Will you please relay that information to my players please, they are currently making up the other 2% of your statistics. :CONFUSE:

maybe it is like in pes2010... most goals I scored playing ml with standard players were from +25m.

Just run with the ball nobody attacking u with the face to the goal. Before u shot you have to push the ball far away from you with R1+L1 (i think xD). >> 90% goal! Even with bad players

when i see the trick festival in 2:28 I really get mad!
PES = arcade when it comes to the tricks -.-

I showed this video to some friends of me not familiar with pes or fifa. They said graphics from distance looks pes more realistic but the movements in fifa are more realistic.

O so fifa must be the simulation of tricks. Dont kid yourself fifa is 30 times worse.

lol seems you didn't play fifa once and you only watched some youtube trickster shit videos ^^.

go play fifa and tell me again that moving 2 analog sticks for tricks the right way (fifa) is more arcade than pushing 1 button for a trick (pes)

Who gives a fuck, really? The trick system in PES11 feels very similar to that of Fifa from the last couple of years. Neither are arcade, nor incredibly realistic, both are spammable in the wrong hands.

I had fifa 08 and fifa 09 and have played alot of fifa 10 and WC. I got done 8 nil on fifa 09 by someone who just did tricks. They are easy on fifa once you learn.

Ok lets stop with that fifa stuff now. Please don't take this thread off-topic in that way. If you want to compare just do it differently. Don't want this ending up handbags style.

I disagree I think FIFA's trick system is actually fantastic, the problem with it is (same as PES, actually worse in PES) that too many players have 5 star ratings and not can do skills which you normally wouldn't normally see while PES even allows goalkeepers to perform rainbow flicks which is stupid.

Dribbling with a CB in PES is more realistic than FIFA but when dribbling with Cristiano Ronaldo FIFA nails this much more as he has so much freedom in movement and trick capabilites.

Why do people constantly try to slide tackle to intercept in both games. It rarely seems to work without perfect timing.

Maybe it's just me but watching the PES/Fifa video there i'm actively watching the Sampdoria-Man Utd game because it looks like an interesting match so i'm intrigued about the outcome where as the match being played in the Fifa extract just doesn't look interesting.
