Pretty sexy goal if you ask me; oh and I just went back to playing PES 10, and it just looks even more ridiculous after over a year. Animations ain't any better and I'm surprised Konami didn't add big shoes to go with those shorts.

Should've seen what my Miguel done to Jimmy last night going all out Maradona style :SMUG:

Dribbling in tight spaces looked lovely.

Except I didn't score :P

Yes mate, that was proper dribbling 101, not once was the sprint button pressed, or if it was, in a very small spurt to keep momentum. He just wriggled through about 4-5 players in a 15 yard square area, absolutely fantastic. Miguel's change of direction, the drop of the shoulder, the wrong footing of my defenders, he was like a slalom skier, he left all my defenders bemused and baffled, literally chasing proverbial shadows. :CONFUSE:

It was just a shame he didnt finish off the move with a goal, because the mazy run deserved it. Does he have the Mazy Run Player Card by the way Lami ? I forgot the ask that last night. And what a game by the way, lag free, flawless, real edge of the seat stuff with some really creative football.

Anyone else think the ref isn't strict enough?

I played what will be my last MLO match last night, and found my players being brushed off the ball by the likes of Essien with nothing but charges right through their backs. There's no way that shouldn't be a foul. No playing of the ball, just X pressure and a shove in the back to leave my man stumbling while the stronger player comes in and collects the ball.

I hope this game is more PES 5 than PES 6 when it's released. I really do.

Still, any update on this pressure sensitive dribbling system? Is this a myth or a tease?

The refs are absolute shit in the beta but they've been improved since then so hopefully they will be good for the final version

1 question:

Can shots be blocked right in front of the attacker? Or is it like PES5 again where every shot flies at least 3m because the attacker always shots passt the first defender?

In this Aguero goal video the defender could have blocked the shot easily...but it went kind of right through him. Reminds me of PES5 :(
Exactly, what the f.. is defender doing ? He ran away ? He should have blocked that shot, it was like the ball went through him.

I get penalised sometimes for even the most minor of pushes. It leaves me screaming at the T.V. screen 'FFS, it's a mans game ref, what the fucks the matter with ya ?'. Alternatively, I've been last man hacked clear on goal, and yet only seen one red card, and that was against Lami ( I think), and looked like an auto-challenge. The minor infringements I have no issue with, it's the blatant red cards that are only receiving yellow's that need fixing.

But again, it's old code that we have been told has yet to have the refs or keepers fixed. I must admit, I was expecting alot worse.

Yes, but am I the only one who's bothered by the clear-cut direction changes? It's 90 degree zigzag all over again.

Not an issue, each player has different angles based on his agility. I bought De Natalie who felt like 360' compared to other players. It doesnt feel rigid at all. Also using R2 for close control give you much more directions.

I do not like what I'm feeling ....
most players are like messi, zig zag dribble dribble and powerful shot ...
that's not real ...

has good things like melee, rebounds ...

but honestly, you feel very arcade

There are goals that are physically impossible ...

heeled Shiites from outside the area, slowly, and there is a chute to 120 km / h

and more

I won't be getting the gentleman award for 1 foul per game then. Jimmy was right about Fellaini he is a monster in midfield,i got Zigic and he is awesome in the air from a standing point. Some of the animations are a great improvement and if this is the way konami intend to move forward then it will only get better. Providing ofcourse the don't take it for granted that they have done enough.

Messi does it for real,Maradonna did it for real,Pele Best charlton & Zidane did it for real. It's only beta and alot of players lose the ball when they try to dribble. Give it a chance.:))

I played a guy last night who also had Fellaini in midfield, it was like King Kong fighting Godzilla, it was messy. I also had Fellaini in my defensive wall for a free-kick, I swear I'm sure his hair alone blocked out the full fucking goal on it's own. I then thought the floodlights in the stadium had failed, but it seems it was just Fellaini's hair eclipsing the sun. :CONFUSE:

You havent even played the demo, so what exactly are you feeling ? Sick because you havent got it ? :)

Was in the ML Open cup last night with just another player so we got drawn against each other 3 times in a row.

Was fantastic, for starters he has Messi but wasn't exploiting him, I didn't actually know he had him until the second half and a cut scene focused in on him, secondly he did not expolit the goal kick bug and force his striker onto my last defender and vice versa so we were just playing excellent attacking football.

One game was amazing, he hit the post one minute then I did the next, then the AI took over and sliding challenged his player in the area giving away a penalty, made me furious how it did that, but I saved it, then in the 90th minute he scored, so from the kick off I set my attacking mentality up to the top, done a couple of passes then found my left back Baines had made the run out wide, steadied myself and did a long cross across the face of goal which RVP missed but Walcott slid home, just amazing the enjoyment this game can give when played right.

If they sort out the bugs and tighten things up a little which I have no reason to doubt as they are glaringly obvious then this could be the best pro-evo ever, needed over 50 games to click with me mind so I doubt when the demo hits many are going to like it or give it a chance, hope I am wrong.

The refs are appalling for all sorts of challenges I find. It seems base on dice rolling at the mo.

Lag seems to be taking hold now. Button presses being ignored is bad enough, but weirdly it seems to be affecting the touch of the players too?? Cassano has 95 for technique but plays like Stremer when the game slows down.

I think I'm done with the beta now. I've not enjoy the past few games of trying to cope with Rooney, Aguero or seeing my defence refuse to deal with 3 up front due to ball indifference, and the rainbow seems to be common knowledge now. The beta itself is a very good game but isnt exactly balanced - which would be fine in the right hands but I only seem to be playing dicks now.

Really looking forward to the full game off the back of this though. Roll on the demo :)

Woot. I won the ML open coach mode this morning.

Came up against a rooney-drogba-nani trio in the final with Essien and Xabi behind them and I owned his ass.

My DMF combination of Giocomazzi and Ponzio in support of Lucho was awesome. They broke down everything. I must commend konami for giving their players personality (I'm not talking personality+ lol )Ponzio is the type of player that has a little pace and tracks next to the carrier and slides to win the ball. Giocomazzi is a slower more physical player who just body checks you to win the ball.

Concerning the dribbling it is so much better to dribble the ball with the R2 touch and go method you can get out of seriosly tight situations and I will do my utmost to master the art when the full game is out. If only people could see that.

Your a victim of your own success Rom, Division 3 will house alot of bellends.

Edit - Out of interest Rom, what is your current line-up ?

I sold Abriel and bought Adriano, I gave him his debut before I went to bed last night, he was on a purple and had a nightmare. Talk about a 2-footed player though, 8 and 8, no worries on that score.

What's there to worry? Dribbling is very different from previous years mate.

That replay that I quoted didn't look very different from previous years. The player was changing direction at 90-degree angles, which is exactly what I hated about PES2010.

The fact that it depends on the player, and there are different skills, doesn't really seem to be a relief, but I'm ready to change my mind.

I'm getting really tired of losing those quick matches. I think I will join the competition at 14.00 to lose some competition games instead.

Searching back through this thread over the last couple of pages and reading some of yours and jimmys post, which, have both been thought provoking and excellent, with some if not most of your of points being both valid and well thought out,im finding it difficult not to agree with you rom, even though i havent played the MLO beta myself.

What seems key and valid are your points about defending which kind of takes us back to fifa10 and FWC which i cant state clearly enough for me has the perfect balance.Although it maybe a different story against the ai on worldclass/veteran whereby you have a underlining feeling a high degree of scripting is takin place.Against friends or online against like minded skilled manual or semi assisted players its a different story,as you do feel like your in total control, commanding the space and able freely to fill the passing channels and cut any space the opposition players are running into. You never feel cheated(me anyway)and that this part of the game is in your hands with good cursor control off the ball for overlapping players back or tracking the oppositions overlapping or offensive runs. Both fifa10 and FWC do have that you create the script feel against good human opposition and your teamate off the ball ai compliments clever cursor changes and reading the game, your also freely able to create space and stretch the game with clever pass and move.

This for me is one of the overiding factors(defending) in deciding which game will be spinning in my ps3 or xbox360 this autumm and beyond. From what i am reading from yourself and many other experienced players there does seem to be a un-nerving in-balance currently in the beta game.

Im not saying fifa is the perfect game but it does get the fundamentals and basics right and like with anything theres always room for improvement. While it is a very accessible game and you get the trick abusers, sprint whores and assisted crowd these exploits are counterable and there are layers and a multitude of ways to play fifa.

Whats clear from your posts as you freely aknowledge this,is,its always going to be hard to free up a control interface and get the ai and defensive system to work perferctly in one iteration of the game,as ea with fifa have been finetuning these aspects over the course of the last four years.Whos knows,pes2011 in its finished form might be the perfect cake, perfectly baked and pulled out of the oven at just the right time offering a well rounded and perfectly executed formula, then again it maybe the next iteration that completes the dream and sees seabasses vision through.

Again without blowing yours or jimmys trumpet, some of the best posts ive read in a long time currently cutting up the forums at the moment.
