PES 2011 Discussion thread

4vs4 sounds amazing indeed, can't wait to see it

I was a massive fan of 2vs2 games (PES6), hopefully 4vs4 isn't the only option

Love it,finally a descent long passing system to play the long ball, something ive been crying out for since ISS on the n64 as it was one of my favourite exploits if timed and played at the right time and for hitting teams on the counter with a nippy forward beating the offside trap and getting behind the defence. This is something ive always felt pes has lacked, the freedom to exploit this play freely as in my mind pes has always been to short pass orientated.Just opens up another layer pinging balls around with the long pass as you can be very creative.

Jimmy,

Im definetly going to join you on peel this year when pes2011 hits.

in pes5 there was a "exploit". When you are on the sidelanes and right when you entered the enemy half you could play a long ball with :triangle: + :l1: . When you than turn on SUper control you can get EVERY ball and run 1on1 with the keeper

Love it that Jon and the PES team are targeting the hardcore football people just like they once did. This mentality is what will bring me and many others back to PES again.

Im with you but it still felt to automated and totally stat driven,im talking about having total placement and power control with your stick and buttons but also with the players stats having a bearing on the accuracy window. This is what iss on the n64 did so well,it had player stats but also gave you total 360 degree analog control of short passing, long passing, crossing and shooting plus you also had a manual modifier much like pes2011 to completely manually place through balls and shots. In iss on the n64 you could even change the elevation on crosses, long passes, shots, corners by pulling backwards and forwards on your left analog stick and hit a grounded cross with the shot button,no cheap automated three taps of the cross button. One twos where manual, you controlled the runner, and you even had a dedicated trap button for chest and feet trapping,as well as the ability to manually add back, side and topspin to the ball. The keepers where excellent and you had a choice of 5 different ai settings for the keepers with 5 making them more superhuman then fifa. You even had 360 degree placement freedom on goal kicks and could play head tennis as well.

Those games while graphically basic now where doing things 14 years ago that where way ahead of there time, you even could move your player on a 360 degree plain, and dont even start me off on the ai and reaction of players which was sublime. The buttons and left stick where also very pressure sensitive and there was no powers bars and more weight in the ball for better feel.Absolute classics that interms of user control have always been light years ahead of pes, when pes, which up until pes2011 has always been more short pass focused and totally stat driven.

If konami manage to marry the ISS series on the n64 with pes in pes2011 history will be made.

Yeah you can definitely play a more direct long-ball game in PES2011. The added freedom in high passes/lofted through-balls means you can drop a ball over the defence for a striker to run onto. It's not easy but it's finally a tactic that can be effective.

4V4!!? That came out of nowhere! Great to hear. This game is getting better and better each time I hear about it. Last week it was the analog pressure sensitive running that Asim mentioned and now this.

Im really enjoying the beta. I keep having this 'one more game' feeling. Even though there are bugs due to it being post E3 code, after looking at the Gamescom videos and hearing about the preview and final code PES 2011 has become my most anticipated game. I cant wait for it now.

Good man regards PEEL, you'll feel very at home with the true old skool PES players. The manual high pass is superb, and I have used this many times, with a good degree of success. Also the maxed out manual X pass is very good for zipping a 30 yard pass along the deck with enough pace on it to ensure it isnt intercepted, subject to the pass being 'on' of course.

I like that goal Jamez, it's not often you score a goal like that. He definately didnt mean for the shot to have that effect though, no chance. You dont shoot from there with your body posture like that. The fact his body angle wasnt facing the goal is what has given it that looped effect. You cannot generate power and keep it low when your posture is like that. The only option is what happened, a kind of leaning back stab which has caused the ball to rise and loop over the keeper. Technically you wouldnt dream of attempting that type of shot, lucky for him and paid off.

Full marks for the final outcome, but I cant honestly give credit for him meaning to do that, because he didnt.

:D
At the end they displayed 30 september as release date and not 14 september, so it looks like it will be no 14 september...
Has somebody asked that to be sure? Asked it to Jon Murphy on Twitter I mean?

Does this mean 8 consoles and 8 people from diff. countries or 2 consoles each with 4 players on ?

4vs4 is not enough u need at least 5 vs 5 to have decent team play, 2 CF + 2 Side midf. + 1 any at leats, then u can have good team play, but 4vs4 is better then nothing, I wonder how laggy that will be.

4 vs 4 is good enough. I play FIFA-clubs and we have often 4 man and that works well and is fun.
PES is always good in the multiplayer-aspect, so I expect even more fun.
Of course we have to wait and see about lag, but from what I read about MLO testers there is no lag. As long as you do not play against guys from the other side of Europe than I don't see problems, apart from people who try to ruin the connection on purpose. Most of the cases you play 4 vs 4 with 4 buddies, living all in the same country, I guess...

Proevo about demo, http://twitter.com/prorevo but i dont understad if pes is going to be released on 30 september, it should has the gold status a month before game goes to a factory, so its in a week now

lami, could you or someone else twitter Jon Murphy about this?

I haven't played pes consistently since pes6, only cause they were that bad. could you ask him whether it's still possible to play multiplayer on Konami Cup offline? Meaning another user controls CPU team so that everyone can be involved in a match?

I can't imagine this was not in Pes2008 onwards? Has to be the craziest thing I've heard. I'm sure a lot of people will be worried by this.

i dont think this is included anymore, theres no option to control cpu teams in konami cup mode,in community mode you can organise tournaments and leagues where all the teams are human controlled

another preview

Hey Jimmy,

Is your website open to people residing in the US, or is it UK only?

*sorry for the slightly offtopic post.

I played FIFa 09 clubs , we were among best clubs, I played any, 4 is not enough, u need at least 5 players, biggest fun was always at 6 people, 2 CF, 2 sidelines, 1 AMF + I played any which ment 1 DMF + all backs, thats best, cause all attacking positions are humans, and u only defend as any.
When u have only 4 Human players, AI plays big part and thats not good, I played few games in FIFA 10 , but clubs are big joke now cause of random players, which ment 165 cm GK, and scoring from halfline, that sucked, so I sold that game and we play NHL clubs now.

I agree with you that the random-players in FIFA10-clubs suck but I do not agree with you that you need 6 players in your club. At 'my' site Digitaalgras we had topclubs in the first division and those teams played regulary with 4 man.

About PES 2011: There you play with all players in some kind of any-role and then you can divide who play as attacking minded player and who as defending mind of player. You can more flexible divide the roles between the players. Then you only need a few players.

You have to pass 3-5 LET games before your invited in. These games test your connection, variety of play and personality etc etc. Once you have played your games against a LET moderator, LET stands for League Evaluation Team, they will write up a report with a Pass or Fail. They are not looking at how good you are, only how fair, and if you have the right Ettiquite. So no, it's not restricted to the U.K., it's all down to your connection if your outside of the U.K. We have members from Russia, Poland and Croatia, but all have great connections which is massively important. PES 2010 is terrible for U.S players on our servers, but hopefully PES 2011 will be good enough for our American friends to join and play.

Mate, Konami needs to get 1v1 sorted first, and after playing the MLO beta I'm not sure they've even got that right yet.

I think the fact we can now play against people from Brazil, the U.S. and South Africa, even on a Beta server is promising. But, as always, the proof will be in the pudding on release.
