Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Just curious. Every time someone brings up a concern or criticizes an aspect of PES the auto answer is always "It can be edited". Which is cool but I ask, shouldn't Konami pay you to fix their game? I mean, all this editing left and right, it'd be nice if they cared and didn't expect to have their paying customers work for free for the community. I'm not talking about customizing but fixing attributes, correcting kits and stuff like that. Bizarre.

if editing a game is all you care about then i don't see the point there's more to any game than that

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

This is a bit off topic at the moment, but the reasoning behind it is actually the other way around. We prefer PES's gameplay, and we are mocking FIFA where it usually shines, the graphics.

What, now the graphics don't matter too? If that's so, why do you keep mocking the animations, the keeper gloves, the sandbags, etc. ?

It's all about gameplay? Well then, we have nothing to fear: we do prefer PES's to FIFA's one. I'm glad and I respect that you prefer FIFA's too. But while who prefers what gameplay is subjective enough, the graphics here are quite objective.

The mighty-wannabes do fall too.

Cheers, and back to the demo downloading - no more off-topics ;)

(I'm just kidding with the off-topic, mind you)

sandbags? Im sure you were replying to someone else. Dont recall anything bout sandbags! Weird. What do you mena about sandbags? anyway, yea, Nedved looks like shite, no doubt. Fifa has its problems as does PES. I'm not a fanboy of either. I just think that PES is a very dated game with a lazy uninspired crew behin it who depend on people who will praise mediocrity to the end. At least EA has been listening to the community and making big strides. PES is stuck in time. Actually, it's gone back to the future! Which says alot, or doesn't say alot actually.

?I used to love editing in PES but to customize my crest, colors, uniform, flag, etc. That is awesome but I would never go out of my way to correct PES when it comes to attributes, correct kits and stuff. That's their job!

I'm sorry, I need to point this out:

I'm not sure the last link I posted is actually legit.

It is not 48MB - it is 1.06GB as far as I know - but its size seems different than the one from the ftp.

I apologize if it's not real.

If you're talking about the PS2/PC versions, then I agree with you.
If you're talking about the 360/PS3 versions, you're wrong and don't know what you're on about.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Yes, they do make a difference, but when they make the wrong differences then it's not really a positive thing is it?
And you can't edit stats for online matches.

You have said you're not going to buy FIFA, so why did you post in the FIFA thread?
I never mentioned FIFA, so I don't know why you're going on about it. Personally I prefer having to work to create chances online, and the opponent have to do the same rather than them pass it to Adriano, shoot from anywhere and score though, even if that requires most players to feel similar.

You've just contradicted yourself by saying you prefer FIFA and the fact all the players feel similar

And I havent said that I'm not buying FIFA, infact the money has left my account and the game is on its way from Game - what I said is due to finding out the SP mode is borked for the 2nd year running, will be selling it when PES comes out.

Dont get me wrong. Fifa was total trash. I was a PES man until Fifa 08. Trust me, I know. You're preaching to the wrong person. I practically went on a crusade to get my friends to play PES yearsss back. But on next gen, PES has stagnated and it shows. It is very dated and uninspiring and I like to move on with the times.

i am not preaching to anyone mate i started off on pes on the ps2 a friend got me into and ive been a pes player ever since well i bought last years and i was really disappointed with it i wouldn't say pes was dated i would say last year was a half hearted attempt i just hope this year's is so much better

I didn't really contradict myself, I said before that I would rather play a football game online where both teams have to play good football to create chances and score goals rather than a game where one player (such as Adriano or Ronaldo) can shoot from anywhere and score, or just run through everyone, even if that comes at a cost of players feeling similar to one another.

Also, the single player mode may be "borked" but it's not as borked as PES single player, where the AI can't even give a challenging game on the hardest difficulty, even when it's cheating as well as having a league system where foreign teams get into your "English" league. PES single player has been "borked" for about the 10th year running then...

I can live with PES being borked as its always been borked as you say. It doesnt try to simulate real life leagues - the whole thing is fantasy (points to buy players etc) and that is fine - it is what it is.

FIFA is adding in all these leagues and licenses etc, which is great, but then it doesnt simulate them right, which makes it pointless and futile.

Anyway, dont wanna turn this into a PES v FIFA debate (AGAIN!). I totally agree with you about PES online and if you come up against a Adriano player - used to frustrate the hell out of me on PES6 on the 360 and I've been known to throw the controller a few times as another 40 yard Adriano supershot flies in :(

Best thing is to avoid those players, or stick to playing people who wouldnt exploit that - which is what I managed to do on the whole.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Torrent link!
Warning: It's just as big as the pes 08 demo, but I've heard it's been put on by a guy who downloaded it from that german site so I'm not for sure!

Oh and here is the link

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

When playing a league, every opponent team feels the same.

That's my definition of a borked single player game.

That hasn't happened in PES for me at least. Every team and every player feels different.

In FIFA, 10 games or 1000 games after, it's all the same. The only change is my ability against the CPU. Other than that, every single player game is more or less the same, sorry.

It has loads of depth, but it's like a 100-floor building, where every building is the same with different colored walls, while PES is a 10-floor building, but every floor is significantly different.

Best regards,

Borked

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

The PES2008 demo size was 1.125GB . It was slightly larger, just checked it ;)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Are you guys 100% sure it's the real thing?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

How large is the pes demo if you download it from the ftp link?
Maybe this is the real deal!

I'm at 14% now, but there are other people who are at 80% so maybe they can shed some light on this.

Check out the sliders in 09 and see if all the teams feel the same

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

If that sort of single player mode is what you like then fair enough, different people like different things. I just want any of my sports games to be as close to the real thing as possible, and I don't think PES is close to it on or off the pitch any more, but some people like that in a football game.

I understand what you are saying, and I hated single player in FIFA 08 too, but from what I have heard from people so far about 09, it seems to have been somewhat rectified.

But personally in PES against the AI, I thought the same thing - that every team played the same too, even every player as well (when AI controlled). Arsenal didn't play short passing, nor were they harder to beat than Derby.

I wasn't even comparing FIFA to PES before though, just saying that PES player ratings were exaggerated and inaccurate, and then it somehow managed to turn into this PES v FIFA discussion.
We should stop and get back on topic :)).

Don't have a control pad either.
Just want to look at the game:-pp

Anyone know if you can use your 360 controller on the PC?
