Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I've never downloaded anything from the PSN Store before. How long can I expect ti to take to download the demo tomorrow bearing in mnd the traffic there'll be.

Shameless bump. Anyone?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Assuming that the demo will be around 1.2 gb, if the server works as fine as your connection, I'd say between 1 and 2 hours.

However, the PSN store is only updated in the afternoon.

Thankyou ever so much Mr pjft.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Something people rave about in PES is how the player ratings affect how the players play, but personally I find them to be very inaccurate and make a lot of players play nothing like their real selves. Adriano being superman, fat Ronaldo still being a goal machine, Hargreaves having a high attack stat etc. in recent PES games prove this.
Added onto that, every lesser player seems the same anyway, so it's only the top profile/popular players who get such high stats, so proper fans who don't support one of the massive teams get a team full of generic players basically, just with real names.

And as matherto said, the AI cheating can change your players stats mid-game anyway it seems, to make them slow/miss sitters/play loads of crap passes.
Overall, I don't really see this as something which PES does well, and it is one of the only things most people can come up with as a PES advantage now.

No problem mate.

The thing is today everybody's focused on downloading the demo, so nobody was answering that many questions :)

I'm basing that estimate on my experience with the FIFA09 demo.

It was 1gb, and I downloaded it in less than one hour from PSN.

Best regards,

Paulo Tavares

However you're clearly accepting that the different stats DO make a difference to how players feel and play, you're just arguing that they're inaccurate. And as those stats are editable, it would be possible to get the right balance to correct that.

The AI cheating is only relevant in games against the CPU as well, it doesn't affect all matches.

You've shown yourself to be a non-PES fan anyway, so why bother posting?

I was going to come back at you in the FIFA thread, but its not worth it - just descends into PES v FIFA.

I cannot believe you are saying that about PES though when the stats clearly DO affect the players (whether they are accurate or not is a matter of personal opinion on how you rate a player) - but in FIFA, every player 'feels' the same.

Whether Ryan Giggs or Richard Dunne - all the players handle the same, run the same, shoot the same etc.

This is more evident in the lower leagues where its 11 robots v 11 robots and in manager mode, it makes buying players pointless as they all act the same.

Each to their own, but you should be honest about the games!

So PES has no advantages at all? The shtik is getting a bit tired these days.

Also this AI cheating lark is honestly just another challenge for me, if you can't overcome it then you're not very good at the game.

However I will say that supporting Portsmouth is a bit naff when you come across Konami's interpretation, only our famous players seemingly have good stats whilst players like Kranjcar, Distin and co are all well below average.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

It is one thing you cant deny PES players do have individuality.

It's just a shame the game engine is broken on next - gen consoles.

The biggest let down is how the ball slides across the pitch.

I really hope I am proved wrong tomorrow when I get my hands on the demo.

mmm I wouldnt say it is just against the CPU though. There are times in multi-player games where the CPU decides to give one player more of an advantage. Defenders going AWOL for no reason at all, shots spooning over the bar from just a tap of the button. I have seen this plenty of times when playing with my friends.

I agree....for example, after you have conceded a goal, the team that have just scored is ALWAYS a little weak straight from the kickoff. You can equalise straight away a lot of the time.

Yes, they do make a difference, but when they make the wrong differences then it's not really a positive thing is it?
And you can't edit stats for online matches.

You've shown yourself to be a non-PES fan anyway, so why bother posting?

You have said you're not going to buy FIFA, so why did you post in the FIFA thread?
I never mentioned FIFA, so I don't know why you're going on about it. Personally I prefer having to work to create chances online, and the opponent have to do the same rather than them pass it to Adriano, shoot from anywhere and score though, even if that requires most players to feel similar.

So PES has no advantages at all? The shtik is getting a bit tired these days.

I can overcome it though, that is what makes the single player element so bad for me. The AI is so weak and can't play proper football and challenge you with that, so has to resort to this "cheating" to give you a bit of a tougher game, yet you can still beat them and win every game of the season. Single player in PES has had very poor AI opposition, and has had broken online servers and matches which lag a lot. There only option for me to get any enjoyment out of PES now is same screen multiplayer, as offline single player and onlime multiplayer are so bad.

The only PES advantages I can think of now are the superior edit mode and training mode, the more responsive super cancel, and maybe Be a Legend if it's better than the BAP seasons thing in FIFA.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Why dont all the companies and game sites use torrent files? they could even make a private tracker to force registration to the sites.
Every year the same problem...

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

It's not fake, your download must have just timed out. The actual size is 1.1 gig

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I guess it was just a crash due to too many users trying to download it, try some download manager like flashget.
