Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

If that was the question you would ask him, you would be one hell of a lousy journalist...
There are thousands of more important questions.

The other ones were good, i would also ask :

- why do they always remove things that worked in previous games ??
- why having a CL license and not bothering with a realistic set-up ???
- why not a more realistic ML set-up, the concept is good but they waste it by the minimal amount of teams involved and the other unrealistic settings.
- why not more teams in the game ???

and then the most important:

- what exactly is Konami's strategy with the game, they are evolving towards a more arcadey game which has to appeal to the casual gamer, but they loose licences. The casual gamers want licences... Why don't they listen to the (European) fans ???

Ive posted this before and its the best answer:
"KONAMI holds the Japanese/Asian markets by the balls....THEY WILL NEVER buy "my nickname" game....
Even if Seabass shits on their faces they will still pay big bucks for that...
So as long that continues Seabass will continue to ignore EU players existence...HE ONLY CARES ABOUT WHAT JAPAN THINKS....why do u think ALL these years Japan got THE BEST versions?
And its the japanese gamers with their stubborness ruin PES....they keep buying even if the game deteriorates..."

Seabass: I’m reluctant to say but you’re right about the criticism we received. It wasn’t our ideal next-gen title – there were online issues and slow-down in the game. But we used those criticisms to motivate us for PES 2009 and spent a lot of time solving these issues. I think we’ve managed to erase most of the problems in the final version of the game.

About every 30 seconds. Its the 90+ dribble animation. Someone said awhile back that its manual. I hope it is

Can you explain the "manual" part? What do you mean? It's important...Thanks.

And look at Pato's foot on Raùl and vice versa.

Pato's foot is ok, seems like a Puma boot, but yeah... Raul's foot is through Pato, as well in the other picture where Pato's hand is... you know where... :lmao:

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

this preview is very negative about the game:

http://www.meristation.com/v3/des_a...387038&otro=1&pic=PS3&idj=cw4860bbdf1c69a&c=1

"Después de jugar durante varios días con esta beta ya avanzada, y con los clubes oficiales ya incluidos, tenemos que decir que PES2009 es casi igual a PES2008 en sus defectos más graves, y con alguno más incluído. A favor posee algún detalle más, como una velocidad de juego más pausada en general, o un apartado visual con mejores efectos gráficos y más suavidad en el engine. Pero lo bueno se acaba ahí, por lo que hemos podido ver estos días."

In favor only the slower speed, some better graphic effects and an engine more smooth. But the good points ends here, that's what we could realize those days."

that's reeeeeeeeeeeeealy negative!

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

IGN: In the past, Pro Evo was regarded as a sim and FIFA a more casual game, but that's changing and both are becoming similar. Is that a conscious decision on your part?

Seabass: One side of that is true because I get the feeling that FIFA is trying to implement a lot of the stuff that we do, making it more of a simulation. However, we never set out to make PES a simulation -- that was never our intention. Basically, we want to satisfy as many users as we can, both core and casual gamers, and that has always been our goal. No matter what FIFA does that will always be our goal.

Doesnt this sort of confirm PES is no longer a Simulation and is now a arcade game, I think both games are moving in different directions and this comment just shows that.

As a Portuguese guy I read the review (I understand spanish, is not that different), and what a review! They only say bad things about the game. Well I´m really shocked.

They say the only improvement in the game is Champions League mode, better lightning effects and a little bit slow pace. They keep saying the game is arcadish style and is designed for casual gamers, from kids to old gamers who just want fun playint it. So, it´s an easy game and now we can press R1 all the time, in opposite to PSX and PS2 versions. They just talk very bad things about the game. I repeat, I´m shocked. They talk about everything that must change. 8-direction, unrealistic animations, arcade gameplay.

I think PES 2009 will not be the game we are waiting for.
The review said exactly what a portuguese beta-tester said yesterday. "I couldn´t notice if I was playing PES 2008 or PES 2009... just no frame-rate problems".

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

They say the only improvement in the game is Champions League mode, better lightning effects and a little bit slow pace

from the videos i would have to agree

it just looks exactly the same as PES08 with slower gameplay :SS same old shit keepers and easy and boring goals :brick:

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

That´s it mate. I tought we couldn´t see how the game is from videos, but reading a review like this spanish site did is scary and confirm all our fears. This year I will not be robbed by konami. My 70€ will go to FIFA if the game is bad. I will not give money to someone who just cares about €€€€€€

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

dont care about a meristation preview, they always said fifa is better, since ps2..... its ridiculus, so dont take them seriusly.

if you want a really preview of the game in spanish, objetive... www.vandal.net

Meristation is equal to FIFA.

Im from argentina, and I red meristation since 5 years ago.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I understand your point of view, but the facts they mention make sense. They even say PES was great on PSX and PS. Let´s wait.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

That ign interview is laughable. The questions are stupid, and don't touch anything that is important, to be frank!

One bit is really disturbing:

lol, looks like seabass got his wires crossed.

sad. because you can mix authenticity and detail with fun. look at the ISS series from SNES to N64.

google translate:
After testing the beta of the new FIFA, now comes the turn of a more advanced version of PES2009. A few weeks ago I had talked about our impressions with a preliminary version of the game, with some not very good feelings with regard to their quality. Still, every year at our backs of PES in the previous generation made us take hope in your final outcome. Now, with a more advanced beta, we can try it again and see how it goes for its development in less than a month is in the shops.

One of the most exciting and controversial topics that had highlighted in the earlier draft was the subject of licenses. Well, not PES2009 BBVA officially owns the league, and we did reflect that Konami was in talks with several clubs in our league for his appearance licensed in the game. We were afraid that PES2009 came with all the clubs invented (the classic Chamartin, or Catalonia), although it is visible and the absence of many clubs, some are as should be.

Now, with this version we can attest that they are, and teams like R. Madrid, Barcelona, Deportivo or Villarreal are implemented with all their licenses (including advertising on the shirts). Still, the loss of licenses from other clubs and other leagues is notorious in recent years by the Konami game, and it is this year where there is a more striking. In particular and for this beta, as we find in our league teams official: Ath. Bilbao, Barcelona, Deportivo, Espanyol, R. Madrid, Mallorca and Villarreal. Although Atletico Madrid will also appear, since it is part of the Champions this year. In the English league encounter only to Manchester United and Liverpool, for example.

Highlight missing equipment such as the renowned At. Madrid, Valencia and Seville, notably those years in the national and international soccer scene. Clearly, there is a negative point for a game like PES, but also all agreed that it would be a lesser evil as the game was realistic, and fun with all the features that have made a big saga from the time of PSX. Unfortunately, this year as the previous two, Konami still does not do their homework.

It is a fact that life is based on cycles. The pass all the companies spend, and even the fashions. The best thing is to enjoy the positive moments and weathering the storm of bad moments can be as good. This is what it seems to Konami's happening with your sports saga. PES2009 continues the cycle (negative) that began with the current generation, and does not seem to break the vicious cycle in which it was stuck. Another issue, more global, would address the issue of Konami in this generation. Removing MGS4 (excellent, on the other hand), has not presented anything with the times in which we find ourselves.

Continues...

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

And that we see news, but they are so few and so minor that we can only regret for the decisions that were taken. We say minor because what we see is almost up new "decorative". New menus, new modes of play in Europe, although it appeared in earlier versions of the saga in the territory NTSC-like manner JAP "Be a Legend" and some graphic details that have been improved compared to last year, as well as a decrease the speed of the game.

However, very badly and we know we have to say that the game does not reach the minimum quality required of a saga that has been around for years. This humble writer has enjoyed as never before (and I say never) with the PSX and PS2 games, Xbox appeared in the previous generation, and that was due to some signs of identity very clear and defined in the saga: deep game system and flexible , Natural worked, configurable options and animations superb. Unfortunately, it is not the case of PES in this generation, where you can feel and see clearly a very disturbing stagnation or even decline in some factors.

After playing for several days with this beta already advanced, and official with the clubs already listed, we have to say that PES2009 is almost equal to PES2008 in their most serious defects, and one more inclusive. For some it has more detail, as a more leisurely speed of the game in general, a paragraph or visual effects with better graphics and more softness in the engine. But what good is running out there, so we have seen these days.

After receiving "sticks" for the disappointing finish of the 2008 version, now trying to refresh his saga with a slower game globally speaking. This could mean a return to the origins of the series, with a game more technical and more oriented towards a holding of checks mansalva, while trying to avoid having pressed the button to run all the time. However, the animations are still robotic, rigid and lacking in many sections of naturalness (of running the animation is still very sad).

In addition, to slow the action had changed the dynamics of the ball in his movement around the countryside by the players, leaving far too attached to the foot to run, and with some hard braking on the grass totally unrealistic. While the physics of the ball in the balls by high maintains its credibility will be on the balls Rasos where most bizarre show. Passes Rasos not appear to be on the same surface on occasion, as there is much difference between the developed and passes on its normal behavior.

What once were soft and fluid movements, in this generation have remained stagnant and show a clear lack of optimization. In addition, the digital movement in eight directions restricts the movement and freedom of play. What is strange is that in your PS2 version of the player animations are more fluid and be more agile in their turns, changes of pace, careers, etc., that in these versions for more powerful machines.

The shots and centers maintain the level of the classic series, as well as the header (at this point, above FIFA in the physics of ball). The fluidity of play was lost in large proportions because of the stalemate in the animations, as well as the slow players in turn, start running, bankruptcy, etc.. The players of the CPU are faster, and sometimes even seem "perfect", as we have witnessed changes of band of 40 meters, with the player and turning its back on the run, and manage to send the ball at the foot of his companion.

As for our colleagues, kept the saga of defects in this generation very clear and that, year after year, they are still not settled. The bands kept his rank of "highway" since the sides tend to come to the center so brazen, in addition to leaving holes through the center of which is one of the most serious flaws that we remember as to warrant defensive. Serves the doorman, or lack, where he remained for the CPU but wants points to a particular place on occasions, and serves band we are not allowed to pressure the player who receives. It is clear that there are things that do not change ever and this can only lead to outdated options, sensations found with years past.

We very much regret having to be so tough with some impressions, but is that the level of downturn has been so brutal that these years have been endorsed with a beta like this, that leaves some very negative feelings in many sections. Among the positives we could appoint the license of the UEFA Champions League from Konami, bringing teams like Liverpool, Bayern, Milan, Rome, etc, will be presented with all the honors, as well as be able to play a Champions League game mode new.

As we said before, has been graphically improved the engine in detail. For example, players will have more detail and more about textures worked, as well as a more realistic shading. There are players with an almost photographic facial representation with regard to their real counterparts, although most do not have a physical resemblance beyond the hairstyle (this is logical, because the exaggerated quantity of players that are in the game and how long would it take to configure them all). The editor included in the game will allow us to change everything they want, apart from creating our player, club, shirt and even coat.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

The trouble is that so much grass, lighting, poligonización stadium or public still have quite a finish for improvement. The grass is shown as a simple texture in the game, only offering his best in the cinematic version, with graphics routines which add volume. Stages (19 available, 10 of them with official license as the Santiago Bernabeu, Camp Nou, Estadio do Dragao, San Siro or Wembley) also have a visible improvement compared to last year, and the public to remain sprite animation for giving some life into the field, but when approached at ground level you can see the basics of his finishing.

In reality rarely focuses the public, but at times when you can see, as with the camera mode "Be a Legend" shows very well that there is much work to do to optimize the outcome, and hence in the atmosphere own party. As for the audio section, we will not qualify to be able to see the version in Castilian, but what we heard sound environment the truth is that the public sounds pretty convincing, but the sound of the hit ball, the cries of footballers in , Or clashes between them sounds totally surreal.

It is true that the feeling after playing is quite pessimistic, but something keeps the game from its playability exquisite pass. Some movement, some animation of a stop, a header, ... a move that shows with magical realism to the point that now was the game. The pity is that this same realism of the game has been disappearing bit by bit until you get to this new version, where the brightest moments are becoming less numerous. It is clear that the playability of the famous saga was due anquilosado to his little innovation, and this note at all.

In a little less than a month will see the final version, entirely in Castilian and commentators in our language (although this so far was not exactly a point in favor). We may also assess how on-line due to be submitted and whether their operation is also improvement over past years. According to receive the final version, you will know our verdict on the quality of the game. Hopefully get a surprise that makes us restore our faith in this amazing saga, stagnated in recent years.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Google translation can be tricky sometimes. I'll translate the most important stuff.

Having received negative criticism after PES 2008, they now try to "refresh" the series with a slower game, globally speaking. This could mean a return to the origins, with a more technical and controller focused game, while trying to avoid the non stop R1 press. However, the animations are still robotic, rigid and not natural (running animation keeps being very sad).

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

In order to make the game slower, the have modified the ball dynamics when carried by players, being now to "attached" to the foot and with some abrupt stops on the field that look completely fake. Although the ball physics in the air kept its realism, the lower balls will now look weird. Low passes don't seem to run on the same surface due to a big difference in behaviour between normal and through balls.
