Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA
Hadn't heard that one before, actually!
Well, I have a couple of tidbits for you guys.
IGN is running an interview on Seabass tomorrow, hopefully he'll provide us some interesting info, or at least promise a complete overhaul in every aspect and say he'll go back to the drawing board
Now, seriously... What really caught my eye in IGN's preview for PES2009 for Wii was the following:
Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka, producer of the next-gen game, also spoke briefly at the event, mentioning the inclusion of the Champions League in all versions of the game including Wii, plus the new manual select mode that gives players complete freedom over who their control and where they play them. But while he said little – he was literally on-stage for little more than a couple of minutes - we're interviewing the man behind Pro Evo tomorrow, so if you want to know more be sure to head back then.
I don't really know what to make of that poorly constructed sentence, but I assume that he is not talking about the Wii version, but the next-gen ones - especially because he's not directly related to the Wii version.
If this is true, and is a FIFA-like player select mode, similar to the one in FIFA with the right stick, then this will actually make the new player switch mode worth while.
The semi-auto mode didn't give me much incentive to use it, because, after I passed the ball, I only had two options. Either I
- asked the ball back to the original player I was controlling, or
- changed player to control the player with the ball.
Now, if I can change player to another player asides from the one who hasthe ball, then that is f'n brilliant, and is just what I said that this cursor mode needed. This way I can be a DMF, pass the ball to a CPU-controlled OMF, and then take control of a winger or a central-forward, make a run for it and ask for the ball.
As it is right now, you could only ask the ball back to the DMF, or take control of the OMF, which was slightly redundant.
Best regards,
Paulo Tavares
[EDIT] I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist...
