Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Yeah, me too. lol
I became a WE user on the PS1.
And on PS2, I bought, WE5, WE5FE, WE6, WE6FE, WE7, WE7Int, WE8, WE8LE, WE9.......and it goes on :p

It went horribly long somewhere along the lines. Konami just aren't professional period. Let's forget the animations, the AI and the core engine for a sec... I mean the bags in the goals and the GK gloves are too stupid for words, the CL is licensed with teams missing. The clubs which are licensed don't even have their proper stadia... I mean they didn't focus on the details, they didn't focus on the core issues, so what have they been doin all feckin' year????
I personally don't like to play FIFA, but it's nice for a change to spend money on a football game that is not identical to its predecessor.
I reserve judgement till I play it, but the latest news hasn't really cheered me up...

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

85% final build

1up preview:

At first blush, PES 2009's graphics look nice but not particularly exceptional -- it's only as you begin to play that you start noticing the little things. For example, the animations are tremendously fluid and responsive, particularly when using the advanced controls. The ball actually responds and moves like a real soccer ball, as opposed to the "magic tether" most other footy titles employ. The field itself even seems more lifelike than in previous PES entries -- a divot gouged out by a hard tackle persists instead of just disappearing. Unfortunately, the camera's pulled out too far for any of the players to be terribly recognizable, but close-up replays reveal lifelike facsimiles -- although still a bit too shiny in places. PES 2009's pleasing to the ear as well; the announcers never seem to get behind the action and accurately recognize both individual players and situations. Even in this early state, PES 2009 already looks and plays like a legitimate challenger to the EA Sports juggernaut.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

Anyone can translate what's new on this site?

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

the graphical style, especially the faces and the kits, and yes, even the lightning, still looks a lot better than what fifa has to offer.

Nice! Confirmation that the pitch does actually cut up.

If your saying graphical style in general, I disagree. Faces and Kits are better. Night lighting looks better on PES, day on FIFA. Most other things look better on FIFA.

imo

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

easy peasy: I'll get this on my super PC and patch it up the notch, and my next-gen console, i'm gonna get FIFA09. fair and square. (even i think i gonna play my PS3 more )

i am sorry but that just seems really biased :? from the videos the passing and the ball movement looked as bad as ever, the ball just fizzes to other players foot and he controls it like it was nothing

after last year its impossible to trust any preview/review

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

I agree, this is all biased.

Now even the Spanish have been paid by Konami to give out good reviews, OMG!

92% ??? It's sad to see such a false review, it's really sad. What did they give FIFA??? I don't want to see this anymore. I bet that there will be many more false and biased reviews, all those that will prefer it to FIFA or give it good reviews. IT'S ALL A LIE, I TELL YOU.

These crappy biased americans who don't get football at all! ARGH!

-----------------------------------------------

Sigh...

I really don't see why this is biased.

For your information, last year 1up gave PES a lousy 58%, it's its worst metacritic score.

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/proevolutionsoccer2008

http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3166904&p=37

and a 90% to FIFA 08.

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/fifasoccer08?q=fifa 08

http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3163500

(they have since then converted the ratings to letters, so PES08 as a C+ and FIFA08 an A)

Good to see the review Thomas, it is really nice to see a good review starting to hit the shelves! Can't wait to get my hands on the actual demo! :)

As far as I remember - and I read Hobby Consolas 15 years ago, and its predecessor Micro Hobby - during the ZX Spectrum lore - it was a good magazine.

"We are in front of the most geniously crafted football experience ever, but even with more enhancements".

That's a translation of the big red quote.

I'd appreciate it if people wouldn't f'n jump at the good reviews and previews.

Best regards,

Paulo Tavares

not in general, but in terms of not looking too much like a game. i sometimes scroll pages here and stumble across pictures - at first glance they look like real pictures. i never had that feeling with fifa pics - there's something too static, not life like. player bodies, off kits, bad faces - you name it. ea are relying too much on pure graphics power with the use of a lot of polygons while i personally think you can achieve better results if you have good texture artists.

Metacritic and 1up have been paid by EA to give out good reviews 8-)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

If you ever see a PES pic and think it's a real football match photo you need to clean your monitor or upgrade your spectacle prescription, PES looks nothing like "reality" especially in terms of colour usage, people call it cartoony looking for a reason.

well, that's what i feel about fifa. okay, maybe the color usage is a bit over the top, but that's down the personal preference or monitor settings, in my opinion.

but the general style - i will allways prefer good texture work over the massive us of polygons. and that's what konami has to offer. no game has proven me wrong so far, at least for my personal preference.

than again i have to say, the important part, zoomed out, matchcam, fifa is miles ahead. shadows of players / stadium, the pitch colors / pattern and stadium detail is just brilliant

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

The lighting in PES is far better than in FIFA. But overall FIFA's graphics are superior. I also dont appreciate the new art style in the menus.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

hmm. agree to billy and OPM. but i guess that's all KONAMI know how to do eh?

Have they reviewed the respective 2009 games yet? If so what ratings did they get.

Apologies if it's mentioned already.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

If Konami have any sense they'll do a demo with the Champions League mode. All the team lineup stuff etc looks so much more professional than the defaults.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion & Rumours (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS)

@Culinary:

No, no reviews from them to any of the games yet.

FIFA is still a couple of weeks away, and PES - in the US - is more than a month away.

Cheers!
