Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

lol yeh..... here's the link: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=369784&cc=5901

How f'n ridiculous :lmao:

Sheva is one of my all time fav players and THE BEST striker/finisher I've ever seen in my life and followed carefully. (Batistuta being other one but I was very young for some parts of his career so I never followed or remember as much as I do about Andriy),

BUT, this is a ridiculous price to pay and just shows for Chelsea, money doesn't really have any real meaning!

At this age, Sheva has already started going downhill (easily noticable for example his pace and acceleration compared to 2 years ago) yet he's STILL wonderful and one of the world's greatest but hardly worth that much money!!! Then again like I said for Chelsea 30M doesn't really mean 30M lol.. it's much less so they pay as they have overpaid on many other transfers (Paulo Ferreira, Tiago, etc. )

Man if I were an AC Milan fan, I'd be jumping up and down right now with joy!! \\:o/

Don't get me wrong, I'd be sad to see one of my idols and fav players and best ever strikers ever to leave the club but I'd know that thye've ddefinitely overpaid for him and that with that money AC can do a lot of great things which will have better outcome in "future" as well (more so than 2-3 years that Sheva has max at the top top top level probably since he's already started downhill process).

Nah, just smiling. Sad to see him leave, but if thats what he wants, then let him go since hes done what he could for us. 35m... beautiful money for someone, like you said, whos been going downhill this year. I have a feeling he'll do poorly there, maybe poorly is too harsh, but not as well as people expect.

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

I don't think he'll do poorly. I think he'll do good but there is no doubt he won't return the $35M price tag invested in him and sadly this is what many fans will eventually use to call you a 'flop'

They don't think that player did well so he's not flop. Once you get bought for that much, they expect you to play like world player of the year (which Sheva won't do) and anything less than absolute top notch performances will be called a "flop" by some casual fans   even though the poor guy didn't choose his own "transfer amount" but the two clubs did. So for this reason many players get hurt because they get bought "Overpriced" and then when things don't go as great as expected, fans start blaming the poor player and treating him like some crap and failure (even if he's not and performing well just not THAT well)!

But I dont want to see that happen to Sheva so I hope he does perform but yeah I have no doubt nobody can live up to that price tag except maybe Ronaldinho these days and Henry and especially not a guy we've already seen 1 year down the road of going 'downhill in terms of physical attributes'! so I'm afraid even if he does perform well.. some idiots will be eventually calling him a flop and giving lot of criticisms anyway since he won't be worth the full transfer price paid! (Even though that's their own club's fault for paying too much and not player!)

So I know what you mean, sad cuz I'd be too. He's so classy.. so awesome but deep down I think I would be jumping up and down with joy if I were an AC Milan fan although I'd publicly not show it and do as you did :p

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

But the point is Inzaghi is old too, and Gilardino is not enough to cover Milan attack on his own. Milan MUST sign a striker this summer... but who?

Owen?
Kuyt?
Ibrahimovic?

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

Another sad thing is that it seems like he doesnt want to leave Milan. I think he knew that if he went now, he'd give back to the team with the 35m. Hes always rejected the big offers over the past 7 years, and has always committed himself 100% for the team.

Nicest thing he did this year was sit in the curva during the last game of the season to watch Milan-Roma.

My most memorable Sheva moments will be - Old Trafford 2002, 2' goal against Roma to win Serie A, the 2 goals over both legs in last year's CL derby, Fenerbahce 4 goals, his incredible hat trick vs Perugia in his debut season..... oh Sheva:(

Inzaghi and Gilardino together already got over 30 goals, and with Kaka included already 40-something this year.
The names linked to us so far are:

Adriano
Suazo
RVN
Drogba
Crespo
Ibrahimovic
Ronaldo

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

To be honest although not young, I feel Cristiano Lucarelli could def do a job for you guys too if you could get him plus he won't cost THAT much either probably and yet isn't unrealistic to get either like Luca Toni whom most likely Fiorentina would probably not want to sell under any cicrmustances due to their own ambitions.

Him and Gila and Inzaghi getting rotated plus having likes of Kaka in there as you said will create lots of goals on their own. Doesn't hurt to have another player in backup as well though.

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

The problem with having more than 4 strikers is that 1 will never play. Amoroso played only 2 games as the 4th striker. Right now we just need 1 more and I'd say its fine. I personally wouldnt mind Suazo (whos got a low release clause), Drogba (possibly discount or free trade as part of Sheva's deal) or Adriano (Inter treat him like shit, like they did with Seedorf and Pirlo, and look at those 2 now).

I seriously doubt Lucarelli would join a big club like Milan, mainly because of his political belief and loyalty to his Livorno fans. Toni I hope stays at Fiorentina because of their CL run next year, and also will help Fiorentina become a big team again.

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

Lucarelli hates Milan because Milan isn't a comunist club, he's 100% anti-berlusni, plus he's founder of a group of ultras of Livorno.

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

I wouldn't mind Suazo but for me he needs to prove it more than just one season! Last season he was amazing but then the previous ones, he didn't exactly set Serie A on 'fire'!

I have no doubt when it comes to actual goal-scoring and putting finishing touch on the ball - a shot or header Lucarelli is among the world's best at moment along with Sheva, Henry, Ruud, Toni and only few others!

I do think the Lucarelli one is somewhat unlikely but I'm just saying IF you were to get him, I do feel he'd be a bigger INSTANT hit in terms of getting goals than some of the other people suggested here and not take long to return on the investment paid to acquire him which by the way would most likely be less than some of other players suggested here or linked to AC.

Plus because he's already accustomed to Serie A and its playing style and defences (Compared to let's say Owen and Kuyt who will only get their first taste) by moving to Milan in theory, although he's moving to a new team and some different things, he probably won't be a flop and will benefit from even better service than he gets at Livorno and prove to be a great buy!

Then again.. I actually hope this doesn't happen and thankfully it's unlikely too! :D
As I want to see him in Livorno next year still 8) and I hope he stays loyal to those hardcore fans!

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

I hope he moves to Napoli, where he'd play along side Bucchi (Serie B top scorer who was apparently linked to Real in January), Calaio and Pia(brazilian wonderkid). Although its Serie B, I'm sure they'd go to serie A instantly.

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

Why don't you want him to stay in Livorno who is a club that loves him and he loves back and are already in Serie A and coming off a somewhat impressive season? :-s

p.s. Isn't Pia the Ex-Atalanta player Inacio Pia? If so I think he's around 24, hardly a wonderkid but yeah a talented player.

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

Yeah I wish he'd change his mind though. [-o<

But very unlikely to happen! :(

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

Ohh god bless other European clubs. If Chelsea cant take CL cup this year, I think Abrahamovic give up his work. I cant think Lampard with Ballack and their front Sheva.

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

Is there anywhere that lists the transfers of this summer only, i.e. ones that are applicable to Winning Eleven 10?

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

Officially the fee is undisclosed I think, so it depends where you read it. It's a new club record though, Kenyon said, so it's over £24.5m as that was their previous. First place I saw the story on yesterday quoted it as £34m, tho it doesn't really matter anyway given the cash they're using.

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

It's official? :-s

Or he still has to agree personal contract terms and pass medical? if so we should wait and post that when all is finalized Thomas like the Kallstrom one that is NOW 100% finalized and confirmed.

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

We already know he's a very quality player through his 3 years at Rennes.

Lyon buy yet another impressive and already established player.

1. Toulalan
2. Kallstrom

Let's just hope Aulas stays away from Cisse but unfotunately I can see it happening as Houllier bought him for Liverpool but never got to work with him and now might want to do that at Lyon! :|
