Next Gen Consoles

Cancelled my pre-order as I'm leaving the UK in New Year, so will be able to pick the console I want with more certainty. Think it's the best bet, and really not sure what if anything is going to be so mindblowing next month.

Xbox One Suffers System Malfunction At Comic-Con Numerous Times

Could this be Red Ring of Death part 2?
Most likely not, but Microsoft had to shut down all Xbox One systems a couple times at Comic-Con, reps at the show told SKNR.

According to the site, While most of the crashes were minor, for a good part of Saturday morning, Xbox One demo systems were powered down and replaced with a panel instead while MS tech investigated the problems.

But the interesting point here is now news about the console crashing numerous times at E3 has been unearthed by Pallab Chatterjee of Media and Entertainment Technologies. According to Pallab, during numerous attempted meetings at E3 the system crashed repeatedly, thus explaining why the one-on-one meetings were ended. Pallab also revealed to SKNR that that they had 6 to 7 attempts at meetings and each time the hardware was unable to be stable enough to complete the demonstration and that the issues seem to remain at Comic Con, as this had been an ongoing problem over the weekend.

Even Sony Comic-Con booth people confirmed the Xbox One crashes with much glee, added SKNR.

It’s a bit troubling that Xbox One has been failing so many times at these gaming events but the media has made no mention of it. But more troubling, to me at least, is the fact the system’s already seeing these issues. And one may argue that the console isn’t out on the market yet and we shouldn’t worry, but with Microsoft’s poor track record on hardware, where millions of Xbox 360 systems died through RRoD, this is very disconcerting.

Just drop it altogether and wait til spring for the new consoles. Not sure getting one day 1 is worth it at all this time. Maybe even leave it til next Christmas even; better price, more games, better value etc, plus we'd have seen more than enough of both consoles.

Also, for those still on the fence on which console to get - they'll have a much better idea 3-4 months after launch.

I'll press on with the pre-order, there are still plenty of games I'll be able to swap it out for that I'm interested in playing. I'm apparently one of the few around who seem to really enjoy the Killzone series, I'm looking forward to Drive Club and Battlefield 4, and also intrigued to see how much different FIFA14 will be.

Besides, there's no way the prices of the consoles will change in the next year, barring a Nintendo style sales fiasco, which won't happen with the big two. I'm also in no doubt which console I want to get, not only for the games, but also for the fact that I still think MS will phase in their original plans over time. I also find their apparent intentions on using Kinect to generate revenue to be a piss-take.

PS4 launch title DriveClub delayed into spring 2014 – rumor
Rumors swirling around the net state that DriveClub, one of PlayStation 4′s launch titles has been delayed into 2014.

We’ve sent a mail to Sony on this, but meanwhile, Kotaku has been told by a person familiar with the “goings on at Sony” state it is indeed true.

The rumor first started this today when The Same Coin stated it had heard from an anonymous source that the game had been delayed into spring 2014.

Sony is hosting an event in San Francisco today which includes some of its PS4 launch titles. Originally, DriveClub was part of the lineup, but it was removed due to a scheduling conflict, a Sony representative told Kotaku.

Furthermore, a NeoGAF member has also heard DriveClub was delayed, noting that they trust the source, but since this person is “not working on the game,” they “could be wrong [but] I trust that it isn’t wrong.”

Again, we have contacted Sony ourselves on the matter, and if they get back with us we will let you know; however, when asked by Kotaku, the site was told Sony doesn’t comment on rumor or speculation.

The rumor comes on the heels of Ubisoft moving its racer, The Crew into spring 2014, meaning the only racing title to launch with the new systems between now and speing – that we can think of off the tops of our heads – would be Forza 5 on Xbox One.

Well now we know driveclub might be delayed.

Price might not change but the value of it might be better with a better choice of games/bundles around and ironed out issues if any.

I'd rather play it safe this time. I've also got tons of PS3 games I'm yet to play!

Drive Club delayed until Spring? Oh FFS.

Well, I'm gonna press on with buying it anyways, I've still got, erm, FIFA14 which I'm looking forward to in the light of PES this year. I'm still up for BF4 and Killzone. Those, and other PS3 games will keep me occupied until other games come out, but I must admit, it's not a good launch line up for either console really. PS4's is particularly shite at the moment.

As for buying launch hardware, they'll all be first generation whether bought now or in Spring, so I may as well get it now.

Really agree here, the next generation launch line up is starting to look rather shite.
If I hadn't of played next gen FIFA at Eurogamer I would of cancelled my pre-order now.

And than Sony drops this bomb:

http://jogos.uol.com.br/ultimas-not...er-playstation-4-custara-r-3999-no-brasil.htm

PS4 will cost incredible 1.350,00 Euros in Brazil, official price, no joking!

And there was plp thinking the Xbox One price(750 Euros) was bad...

What a joke, but I kinda of expected. Yesterday I was looking at a GTX 780 and thought to myself, damnnn that's an absurd price, but now it makes sense.
We have no choice whichever platform is gonna be a robbery.

Seems like there's really no point picking up a new console next month other than to well, just have a new piece of kit. Going to wait and see what this Steambox thing is all about before I pick up a PS4.

Is there any new news on Fifa, Dead Rising and Forza?

Those are the games im getting at launch atm but am still undecided.

1.350 €??? That's absolutely unacceptable. Do you know the reason why?

With all the abusive taxes and the profit to the company already taken in consideration:

399 dollars would be be 930 dollars tops, which is already absurd.

But the price they are selling here is 1850 dollars approximately.

So yea! It ain't all taxes, its just the best market to invest in the world since people buy everything without even thinking about it.
Its the same with cars and electronics around, its half taxes half market value. People pay for it, so why not profit?

Sorry for the off-topic but how did you find FIFA14's graphics on next-gen? I've seen them on YouTube but being compressed etc it's hard to tell if they're actually that much better.

Just seen Shopto are now offering me a swap, might get my PS4 with Killzone for £399 and then order FIFA separately,

Somewhat off-topic but I saw a documentary the other week about the current problems setting in in Brazil because of the credit card fiasco now coming to light. To put it simply, the program stated that the idea of "credit" was new for Brazil and Brazilians (introduced in the last 10 years or so) and the interest charges were bordering on criminal. So people didn't really understand the concequences (with an example being someone who couldn't pay a $1000 creditcard bill now owes $12.000 just on interest after a year or two). This has created an exaggerated credit society (compared to the US) which has driven prices up (ala PS4) whilst creating a fictional wealth that is coming back to haunt a lot of Brazilians.

Do you guys recognise any of that?

Bloke I know works at gamestation and has played Killzone (?) and Fifa14 on the Xbox1 for a period of time and said the controller is a joy to behold.
He also said Fifa looks and plays fantastic - and he aint one for footbll.

Drive club now officially delayed.

But they're now giving away Contrast on PS+ instead and letting everyone try killzone's multiplayer on the 28/29 December.

To replace the title, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download shadow-puzzle-platformer Contrast free-of-charge instead and be offered access to an "Open Weekend" trial of Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer on December 28-29

Same boat.

Looking forward to steambox now.

Glad to hear about FIFA looking good but nobody else's thoughts on a controller really matter to me at all. I used DS3 for years and a 360 pad maybe last 2 years. Both absolutely fine in my eyes and I'll just get used to the feel of a DS4 in no time.

Its true until certain point in time, we've been over that for a lot of years.

The thing about capitalism is that apparently there is an unwritten law that the price of whatever never ever go down, it can stay the same but never go down.

Which is BS off course, but that crisis surely changed the Brazilian culture, its completely normal to buy something in 24-36x months.

People sacrifice themselves to look good, its sad.
