Next Gen Consoles

We'll see in the One.

What I mean is, yes, it's a good thing, it will have its uses, but they sold it as something that would make the console 4 times more powerful or something like that.

And that, is bull****

Are they really going to make loads of games that use this cloud when theirs no guarantee it will be used?

If they're doing lighting on the cloud does that mean offline players get no lighting? Lowest common denominator etc dictates they'll aim for no cloud for all and save the money or with multiplats, will they spend the extra to use the cloud fully? Will they in turn do similar for ps4 and run it through amazon like Uncharted 3 did?

I'm dubious. After all, they did also claim Kinect would revolutionise gaming too. Instead, all we got was some game with Han Solo doing the macarena.

Microsoft could be set for another U-turn after admitting that they’ve received a lot of negative feedback towards there being no headset bundled with the Xbox One console.

Microsoft’s senior director of product management and planning, Albert Penello said the company is reconsidering its decision.

“We’ve heard the feedback. Looking into it,” he tweeted to someone who was concerned

More bad news ;)

It's almost as If they're doing it on purpose to show 'hey look we're listening' when they change things.
Either that or they're just completely out of touch.

Arrogant 3rd console curse yet again. But at least they're listening. Sony were just an abomination at the ps3 launch.

Who knows, maybe this big fuck up will cause them to go into crazy please the gamers mode soon after?

They've tried to give us what they wanted... Realised they're wrong. They HAVE to be aware that they can't continue to screw up and tell gamers what they're getting in future. They just have to know that it can't continue.

All these changes date back to the reveal so its not like they've added new stuff and then had to double back. Hopefully they'll have something good to show in a few weeks at gamescon

Apparently Xbox are going to announce a 'reintroduction' to the Xbox one complete with a reduced price of $399/£399.

Sadly, I don't even think its a case of MS realising they were wrong, I think they've backpeddled purely because the public weren't allowing them to get away with it yet without huge vitriol aimed their way. I don't think we've seen the last of the way MS planned to take gaming. I'm sure MS would still dearly love to go back to all their original policies, and will do once the public start to see this kind of thing as the 'norm'. I think they're just biding their time.

The fact that they pulled family sharing for digital copies of games to me was a case of MS having a dig back at their own customers, a little 'fuck all of you' for forcing them to pull all their new policies.

It's like Sony during the PS3 launch x10.

Don't know how relevant it is but Codemasters have now dropped the Online Passes.
Well for F1 2013 anyway, so would assume it would follow for all their games.

Update: Microsoft announce Xbox One clock speed upgrade
02 Aug, 2013

Update: It's true. The new additions include a rebuilt and optimized graphics driver and the GPU’s clock speed changing from “800mhz to 853mhz.”

Original: It's being reported this morning that Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb and Microsoft's Marc Whitten will release a podcast detailing changes to the Xbox One's GPU.

The Xbox One will have a custom AMD GPU which is said to be similar to the Radeon HD 7790. What this means in real terms is support for 2 GB of DDR5 RAM, the ability to support 4K resolutions and has a graphics clock of 800 Mhz.

Well, according to a Gamespot Japan [via] report the hardware has now been slightly improved, with the GPU speed being upped by 53 MHz since E3.

Microsoft is apparently looking to upgrade the system as much as possible before launch, which is obviously good news all round.

Actually the AMD Radeon 7790 has a core clock speed of 1000Mhz so if the XB1 GPU is based on this card then I wonder if it has been heavily downclocked? I know the GPU used in the console is not like-for-like, but a clock speed of 800MHz is a substantial drop from the card it's based on. Heat issues were rumoured.

Still, a 53MHz boost is better than nothing but not exactly mind-blowing. I do wonder if both consoles are a little under-powered.
