Microsoft Xbox 360

@ matherto, atleast put a piece a cardboard/mdf/triplex/plastic tray/etc under your 360 if you are leaving it on the carpet (even if its only temporary). Use your xbox packaging box. Thats one way to kill a console, as its not only the ventilation but also the large amount of dust particles found in carpets. Even moreso as the 360 doesnt sound the most reliable console.

thanks, I've been bits of the box for now, I knew it wasn't the best idea in the world to have it on the carpet

got my free month sorted out now

Gamertag: matherto

I'll probably be looking for a game of PGR3. but maybe GoW (not that good at it) or R6: Vegas (only played it once)

Which one would you get: Tomb Raider vs Perfect Dark Zero. I just played Perfect Dark Demo for the first time (after downlaoding it months ago) and I really liked it. Also enjoyed the Tomb Raider demo. So which one would you get, purely for offline single-player?

Perfect Dark was fuckin awful imo. I bought it at launch and sold it within a day.

Tomb Raider will get you thinking but it very short. Probably best to rent it

MGS4 Rumored for Xbox 360
Is Konami forcing Kojima's hand?
US, December 18, 2006 - With Microsoft's one-year-old console gaining a steady install base in North America and Europe, Konami executives have switched their positions on an outright Metal Gear Solid 4-PlayStation 3 exclusive, telling Hideo Kojima to bring the game to Xbox 360, says Electronic Gaming Monthly in its December issue.

One year ago Konami's Hideo Kojima was quoted as saying that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was technically possible on Xbox 360. Now it's not only technically possible, it's perhaps financially feasible as well. EGM's rumor mill produced the short article and it's worth noting that no sources were supplied, no quotes were given, and no reasoning was provided behind the alleged move. It's pure rumor, one that Konami executives have refused to comment on or entertain in public since the game's announcement on PlayStation 3. When contacted today, Konami officials said "These are just rumors."

Still, the notion that MGS4 could come to Xbox 360 makes a little more sense today than it did four months ago. Back then, we couldn't see the state of disarray that Sony was in. Now, with Sony's rough launch, limited unit numbers and high price tag, perhaps Konami executives are seeing how fiscally prudent an Xbox 360 version would be. That doesn't mean it is happening. It's still just a rumor; but one worth mulling over.

The cons of such an argument are many. Sony and Konami are long-time partners. Metal Gear Solid 3 never came to Xbox, as MGS2 sold unimpressive numbers. But MGS4 is a technical showcase and a guaranteed system-mover for Sony. The series has been one of Sony's biggest weapons since MGS on PlayStation and even more so with MGS2 on PS2. Pundits and industry analysts say that Sony is working with Konami with both technical and financial means to keep the exclusive secure.

But so what? Contracts have limits. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas came to Xbox, and GTA4 is coming day and date to Xbox 360 with the PS3 version. Other Japanese publishers are considering the weight of Xbox 360 and are shifting their own once-Sony exclusives to Xbox 360, too. (We'll have more on that later.) The most likely scenario, if this rumor has any legs to it, is that Konami has signed a contract with Sony restricting its port to another system for some time; as soon as the contract is up, MGS 4 will ship on Xbox 360. Will that be three, six or 12 months? If MGS4 is due for fall release on PS3 (no official date has been released), then count on a minimum of six months. In other words, if the rumor proves true, count on a 2008 release.

What is the honest to goodness truth? More importantly, what do you think? Do you care? Is Sam Fisher enough of a military stealth powerhouse that Xbox 360 fans don't need MGS? Discuss it on our boards.

If this happens, the PS3 aint gonna have much left for it. Especially if it launches here in september.

I can't rent them because I play games at a really slow pace. Like I play mad for one day, then don't play for like one week (apart from PES taht is)

So thats Tomb Raider from you, anyone else?

I'm playing Tomb Raider at the moment and I think it's worth a go. You can pick it up for £24.99 from Play, which is pretty good. It's more like the original Tomb Raider albeit less constrained than that.

It's enjoyable anyway, though it is quite short it does have replay value and time trials to keep you going.

This is from someone who played the first Tomb Raider for a bit and hasn't gone back to the series since. I'm not saying it's without its annoyances but worth a go if you enjoyed the demo.

I'm thinking he means Wireless Adapter as in the bit you plug in the back instead of an ethernet cable, and well atm I dont think there is anything other than the official one.

That's a coincidence, I was going to ask the same question (about the wireless adapter, so that I could have internet in the front room)!

Has anybody got one of these, or used it? Is it comparable to having a wired connection (I can imagine all of the games being jerky if the connection is wireless)?

There's no reason to assume wireless would be jerky online. Remember the most you're likely to have in terms of internet connection in this country is <8Mbit. Even 802.11b (cheapest) wireless is 11Mbit, so it's the internet that's the bottleneck not the wireless connection.

My Wii, DS and PC run from the wireless, by chance I happen to have the 360 via ethernet, but I have no problems at all.

If you don't want to shell out loads of cash on the official adapter and don't mind something not quite as tidy, go for a cheap Wireless access point or something from ebay. I picked up a cheap Motorola WAP for about 11 quid. Connect it to the PC once to set it up (i.e. make sure it's on same subnet, configure WEP etc), then plug it into your wired router.

Yes, i did mean wireless adapter for wireless internet connection. Gonna get a new tv soon, so i'm gonna move the 360 away from the computer and the wire. :)

Read some reviews about the official MS adapter, and it's supposed to be really good, but any USB Wireless access point is supposed to work.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, uh-huh, it's Jesus's birthday, heyohhh! \\:o/

I had no idea you could do that. That would save a packet. So any WAP will do the job, the 360 will see it?

Edit: I'm a bit confused now actually - my router already does wireless (the laptop connects to it via a wireless PCMCIA card). Does the WAP kit have to include something to plug in on the 360 end?

(By the way Babs, get your backside in the "Babs! HELP!" thread sometime) :freak:
