Microsoft Xbox 360

just got one of these things, so far im playing NHL2k7(great sports title, konami, play this game, you will learn a thing or too) and rainbow six... cant wait for PES to come out in the states, one month to go...

Anyway, someone I know, friend of a cousin who works at the MS HQ, that a V3 will be coming out with a 250GB HD to push Video-on-Demand to battle with the PS3s TiVo. And it will have built in HD-DVD drive to play movies, and games! And will have built in Wi-Fi, similar to PS3 60GB. And all for the same price. And when this V3 goes on sale, the V1 will go out of production, and the V2 will become the "core" model.

come again, although m$ are saying they dont know what everyone is on about - it seems that xbox-scene have a vid showing that it does in fact exsist
 
Yeh i doubt it to..

It sounds like it will be a full new package, as it was running with a 120gb hdd as well.
 
Shouldn't really complain. Look at the PS2, went from £350 to slimline with built-in network adapter, people weren't begging Sony to replace theirs LOL!

It took them a few years to do that though didnt it?

Should MS go ahead with this just over a year after launch they will get a shitload of abuse
 
Yeah, it took Sony what? 5 years to change the PS2 hardware? And besides smaller size and the internet connection nothing was added.

And Sony did that for the Feck of it and to increase sales due to it being better looking.

Microsoft on the other hand is only doing this out of fear from the competition.

A new chip for digital output. Which proves the current one cant do it. Which means no HDMI adapter for early adopters. Which means FU M$!

You do have a point... atleast you can buy cheap V1s on eBay when V2s come out to firmware upgrade so you can play copies of cracked discs....
 
i thought the hana chip was to convert xbox games through hdmi, the current ANA chip can already convert to hd - just not via hdmi - hence the new chip.

I'm presuming games will play just as well on both - in which case, I'm not too worried. The difference just wouldn't be worth, to me, paying out the cost of another 360, and selling the old one for half the price. I'm quite happy to stick to component output; just as long as the games work equally well on each. If a game gets released and says on the box "extra features on the 360 v2 console", that's when I will be pissed off.

TFrom what i read the 'new' xbox will be shipped with a 120gb hdd, have the new cooler 65nm processor and the hdmi output.

Remeber though the machine that x-s have is just a prototype and may never actually be released (M$ are still denying is exists :S ) I would doubt that though -as its becoming apparant the current x360 isnt going to be capable of digital output without some kind of converter box/thingy'mabob
 
Well if we need to buy a new console, it wont really bother me too much, so long as I could afford it; as I'm more a console collector.......... yes I know that sounds stupid, but I have 4 GameCubes and a Q, 2 GBA's, 2 Dreamcasts, 4 PS2's, 4 XB's........... yeah maybe I am weird, ahem.

Anyhow, I would be more worried if there were games released 'only on XB360v2, or 'enhanced for v2' that is splitting the market and well we all know the confusion that happened with the MegaDrive and Mega CD 1 and 2, while it was always possible to connect each bit to the other, it was a complete mess for Sega, but then 'add-ons' have always been bobbins.

Sony did release the PStwo and well there werent many people complaining, the original PS2's people werent asking for a free Network Adapter, and they certainly didnt come down in price. Most people bought the PStwo, cause it was a much neater piece of kit.

As in, a standard xbox 360 was possibly modified (manually by the owner - like one of those paint jobs).

Also, doesn't a VGA connection require there to be a digital output? a standard 360 is capable of outputting this right? Maybe the images of the new chip were possibly doctored...

Now adding to the whole conspiracy theory mix, but maybe Microsoft's competitors had something to do with it to detract people from purchasing the 360 (if an improved version is supposedly available around the corner?).

any faceplate collectors around? how much would you pay fora int PGR 3 faceplate? im looking for something new as my white cover broke, but i dont want the usual shit
