The whole HDTV vs standard definition is obvious guys - don't get hung up about it!!! And I am 99% sure they are really over exageratting the look of the games on a standard TV. IGN said that PGR3 looked like a Xbox game if you didn't have a HD tv, where as the guy over at 1up.com said that is total BS and it looks fab on a normal tv.

Time will tell I suppose but games will look great on a standard tv, they will just look crisper on a HD set.

I'm with Mr Jelly on this, it should be all crisp and sharp on a decent TV, just HDTV will make it pin point sharp, no odubt HDTV's in the states are 10 a penny, and it dont cost as much to upgrade over there, but really to have a decent gaming screen we're talking above 32', so were looking at the guts of 900quidlaroonies here, and frankly I'll be forking out over 400 getting my system and 3 games or more come launch day, thus now having the moolah to upgrade to HDTV.

That's a bit piss, I'd have thought they'd have let you know before now. Looks like Asda for you too Chris! :mrgreen: ;)

CoD2 got 9.0 @ IGN, good game I have it on PC though. Need For Speed got 8 I think, was never going to buy that anyway. FIFA got panned, and that's saying something as IGN are usually very generous when reviewing that game, so another no thanks.

Still looks like PGR is the only one I'm getting.

ffs all the games i looked forward to are getting mediocre reviews. FIFA, NBA and NHL. Now im only looking forward to Perfect Dark, which better be good:@

Yeah sorry to hear about your order mate. I've heard that even people who pre-ordered on the 19th August with Gameplay aren't getting their console on launch day, and thats only 2 days after the announcement of the 2 packages.

I pre-ordered at Gamestation on the 7th September. Just phoned them & they checked & said I would receive one on launch day.

Still won't actually believe it until it's in my hands though.......

it's not gameplays fault.

blame microsoft for this attempted global launch.

they simply don't have enough units for the demand.

i am one of the lucky ones to get a unit allocated to me from gameplay.

i also pre-ordered a backup unit from gamestation - they guaranteed me a console on launch day. found out they are only getting 13 units in and i won't get one on launch day.

My Asda is getting 3 core packs, 3 fat packs, and 3 'specials' which will probably be just a game thrown in. Was told Asda are getting 150 nationwide. :roll:

Wait a minute it thought i came across a post saying UK will recieve an estimated 500,000 units or so i read :roll: , can't remember off my head but i'm quite sure i read it somewhere. anyways good luck to those of you that hasn't recieved word on your unit reaching you in one peace on lunch day (that is if ever it will), for what's worth i still think they rushed it and nothing will change that!!! ;)

Well I know mine is getting nine in total, and if I don't get the fat pack I will very probably cave and get anything I can bloody grab hold of. I was planning on going down at 9pm, a 3-hour wait but I might have to go down earlier now, and even if I get one I can't feckin play it till the next evening as I'm up early the next morning.

I wouldn't hold your breath on that. I ordered mine from Amazon at 10am on the 18th August and I still don't know if I am getting one. The only thing I will say is Amazon don't have to share their allocation, where as gameplay had to share with Game and Game.net.

I ordered mine on eBay because I knew stores would pull this kind of shit. Probably some rich bastard walked into the store and slipped them an extra 50 to jump ahead of you in the line.

Ok got some news for people living anywhere near Manchester.

A new Game store opened up in a complex called the Fort, which is on Cheetham Hill Road for the locals.

Now the situation is that the store will be getting quite a few xbox 360's in (meaning 30+)

Whats key though is that these machines are not pre-orderable. This is because Game as a company stopped allowing pre-orders around late Sept. Seeing as the store was opened afetr that it missed out on the pre-order campaign. So I suggest everyone to give them a buzz a few days before launch.

The bad side? From what I got told, they are getting mainly Core packs in rather than the bundle pack.

I know what u mean mate. HDTV is not even a norm yet in the UK (I just feel sorry for those who spent bucks on those pre-HD LCD TVs :eh:).

But I guess this was the same situation with broadband internet and online gaming a few years back. Broadband has become the norm nowadays...
