Microsoft Xbox 360

Not much is new with the new dash update. Netflix isn't supported over here, I guess the downloadable games might be alright, paying for avatar gear is rubbish.

Best thing about it is being able to rate games. I found Castle Crashers was up the top of the ratings, so tried the demo and enjoyed it. So the rating system worked well in that aspect.
 
I have a question, if i buy a 120 HD can i use my current gamretag on it? And do i have to make anything for it work? I know that i probably can´t transfer my saved games but i am just worried about my gamertag and my XBL acaunt.
 
You can recover your Gamertag onto any 360 mate. Really easy to do and just a case of putting in your email address and password on the 360 and it downloads if I remember right.

You should be able to get a transfer cable and that'll copy all of the data from your old drive to your new one as well. I'm sure a few people here have used the cable in the past and can give you more info, I think Coopz might have done it?
 
Microsoft has revealed that titles downloaded from Xbox Live's new games-on-demand channel will cost between 1600 and 2400 Microsoft Points.

In real money that equates to between £13.60 / €19.20 and £20.40 / €28.80.

Those prices were confirmed to Joystiq, a US website, but the MSP values should remain the same across all Xbox Live regions.

Individual prices for each of the 21 confirmed games-on-demand launch titles have not been announced.

The service arrives as part of the Xbox Live summer dashboard update, which rolls out on Tuesday 11th August.

No deal. I can pick up the games in that list on disc for less than MS are charging, and I can sell it on if I want.
 
Is games that cheap in the UK? Got to move there.. (oh, and not to mention the fact that you appear to be able to rent games..how wonderful that would be)

In Sweden that is quite a fair pricing IMO. Mass Effect is rumoured to be priced 1600 points(/and if it would be priced £20..well, not so good), and would cost at least £20 to buy in store (and thats used). And £13.60 is quite much cheaper than £20.

Secong-hand, Dusse :) Places like eBay or AVForums and you could pick those games up for £5-£10 probably.
 
They are very good prices, especially compared to the PS3's download prices, but I can't see them charging that for all the games. If FIFA was released on it there's no way they would halve the RRP, so they must only be planning to release some really crappy games on there.

Move to the UK for cheap games? Pish on that! I just buy them used off Ebay for nice cheap prices, or order from UK stores if you want it new and delivered, then you can stay in Sweden and avoid all the social disadvantages of living in England :)

Also remember we get Fifa10 a day before they get it in the UK ;)

Between £13 and £20 for those? They can all be picked up for £10 (or less) on eBay, AVForums or HotUKDeals for example. And you can sell them and get your money back when finished. £5 would've been a fair price to sell them for online I think.

Some games like Prey, Kameo and Table Tennis are regularly in shops for £5 new and can be bought for something like £2 used as well.
 
Yeah, I thought they were supposed to be new games. I wouldn't pay more than £10 for any of those (although I'd be tempted to pay £13 for Mass Effect).

thanks mate, i was only worried about the gamertag, the savegames i really don´t care since i plan to buy the new HD before begin playing NHL10 and Fifa10! :)

Microsoft's Games on Demand pricing isn't exactly consistent across this orbiting ball of dirt we all call home. What costs $20 in one place costs $40 (or sometimes more) in another. So we asked Microsoft, why the discrepancy?

Microsoft HQ said the pricing decisions outside the US were the responsibility of that particular territory. So, for example, if Mass Effect is priced at 6000 Microsoft Points in Australia (as opposed to only 1600 MSP in the US), then that's Xbox Australia's decision. That's fine. So we asked Xbox Australia. Their response?

No one retailer has the lowest pricing for every product, and our program is about giving people 24 x 7 convenience and selection when shopping for Xbox 360 games.

We're incredibly excited about what Games on Demand means for digital distribution, and will continue to evaluate and evolve the service to meet market and consumer demands.

I cant believe anyone would be mad enough to spend cash on pimping their avatar. I mean 800 MS points for a lightsaber!!

Im hoping my son doesnt see that section and start bugging me for one!

You should see PlayStation Home, it's even worse. Why people would pay for a virtual shirt "made" by a real-world manufacturer I have no idea.

I only know two people who buy things in Home, one of them is a nutter, the other one is a kid. And he's spent something like £50+ on it (which is like 25 things).

Now that Microsoft have caught up, he's already bought the remote-control Halo car (the Warthog?) for his avatar. What the fuck is the point in it? It comes up next to you, for other people to see, you can't actually do anything with it. It drives me fucking insane. :CURSE:

I think a nice addition to some games would be to give you "FREE" gifts for your avatar if you get an achievment.

Like a World Cup if you win it on the hardest level in FIFA or something like that.

but I aint paying for it!

I think this is what will happen with certain games? Cool feature IMO, something extra to aim for besides achievements :)

Yep, they're called "awards". Trophies for your avatar basically.

I want to win a guitar but I play Rock Band on the PS3. Fail. :(

Thing is, if they have e.g. a World Cup for your avatar in the FIFA World Cup game, any money says they'll let you buy it from the Marketplace for 800 points or whatever. So then you won't know who's earned it and who hasn't, and they'll be a waste of time.
