Microsoft Xbox 360

You have to call MS to remove billing details? oh shit. Is there anyone who still has a 360 who you can trust to remove them for you? me and Plan M have done this sorta thing before.

Can't even remove the bank details from the console, just edit them. I'm not phoning MS so I'm not giving out my Gamertag details really.

Has he not got his own Gamertag then and is playing on yours? It's fucking ridiculous mate, all he wants is a few arcade games for free. Tell him to fuck right off.

Well since I got my 360 I've had no problems at all, it's worked perfectly.. then this morning I went on it (after I read this thread about all jonney's problems) and it froze a couple of times and I thought nothing of it, then just now it completely went, I got 1 red ring and an E79 screen on boot up. Not good.

I noticed my power supply was a bit loose so I sorted that out and its back on again now, do you guys think that could be what caused the freezing? I really hope so.

found this...

"E79 is an error code if xam.xex could not be started - probably a corrupt file"

could also be a harddrive problem

Yeah I read that it could be a hard drive problem. After I fixed the loose lead, it started up fine but then froze when GTA loaded (just as you appear in the safehouse). I turned it off, took the HDD out and started up again, loaded GTA, and it seemed to work fine, I did a bit of the first mission and it didnt freeze. So I thought it could well be the HDD. Anyway I put the HDD back in again, loaded GTA again and it seems to be working fine, played for about 20mins with no freeze so far.

Whats the best way to backup my saves and stuff on it, do I need to buy a memory card thing or can I save it to a USB thing.

IMO the best way is to connect your 360 HDD to your PC and make an image of the hard drive, that's what I did when I moved from Singapore and sold my NTSC-J console, I then bought a PAL 360 here, connected the new HDD to my PC and copied the HDD image back over, then connected up and everything was there including profiles and saves and such :)

How do you connect the 360 HDD to a PC? Could you post a guide for us mate? I'd like to back mine up if its easy enough.

Absolutely no need at all to buy one of those, just strip the Xbox HDD down, remove the HDD and connect it to your PC with standard SATA and SATA power connectors. Yes you invalidate the warranty on your Xbox HDD but at the end of the day if it dies all you do is buy another cheap Samsung drive, configure it as a 360 compatible drive and then use it with your Xbox, better yet is to replace with a drive of 120gb for much less than you'd pay for the official 360 120gb drive.

All you need to buy are 2 Torx screwdrivers, a T6 and a T10 being the two sizes required.

Oh and the app you use to backup/restore your HDD is called Xplorer360, latest version being beta 6, you can also explore 360 memory cards with it apparently.

I suppose in theory it's perhaps possible to hex edit Euro 2008 saves to correct the player names, haven't looked into it myself.......

Well do what I did, buy a toolkit from somewhere which contains the two you need, keep the receipt, use the screwdrivers to make your backup, next day return the toolkit for a refund saying your wife/gf/mum also bought one for you on the same day so you don't need it :)

 I don't think I wanna invalidate my warranty... Though it would only be the HDD wouldn't it, and if you get the RROD and have to RMA your Xbox you don't send the HDD back with the xbox do you?

Thought so :)). Cool, might be worth looking into getting a couple of Torx screwdrivers then. I could buy them and claim it back as expenses for work :)).
