Microsoft Xbox 360

Because a TV, car or boiler are a lot less important (and expensive) than a games console aren't they...

It's still covered by the same warranty for God's sake, if it works then great, if it doesn't you get a replacement within the warranty period. I fail to see the issue.

So because the 360 breaks six times for Jonney in two/three years, it's fine because he gets a replacement? The fact is things shouldn't be breaking once in a year, nevermind multiple times.

No it shouldn't, but all Jonney's after is a working console. So if it's a refurb, who gives a toss as long as it works, and as long as he can get it replaced if he doesn't? You're expecting the earth, you're not paying any extra for a special warranty so you get what you're given.

I don't understand why it's such a big deal. If it works it works, he's been waiting for yonks to get one that works, so why not enjoy it while he can and make sure he doesn't block the vents on it or drop it down the stairs this time... ;)

They're telling him its NEW and he's finding its not - that's one of his problems. The refurbished consoles are then not working from day 1 - another problem. And after all the trouble he's been through and weeks combined into months hes been without consoles he's now tearing his hair out and no doubt in the same boat i was with the 360... afraid of playing on it in fear it will freeze and 3 red light on him yet again.

Dags - what ever happened with that guy asking for your details?

Precisely what I was trying to say... so long as it works for a decent length of time why moan about it?

Of course they'll tell him it's new, they would tell you your pants are purple if you asked them to confirm it, they hire chimpanzees to work the phones. When I couldn't get FIFA connecting to Xbox Live they told me they were stopping online play in FIFA because it was too much to maintain. Microsoft aren't the first people to have call-centres full of these guys, chances are if you ever have to ring your broadband or insurance provider you'll encounter the exact same person asking you to disconnect and reconnect your ethernet cable. If you trust what one of them say, then wake up and smell the coffee, and don't expect different treatment from everybody else.

As for refurb consoles not working from day one - not been a problem here. If it was, I'd ring up, tell them it wasn't working, and they'd replace it again!!

Heres a question - XXXXXXX bring out their next console and tell you all there is a good chance it will break down on you... for some of you it will break every few weeks, others months and others maybe never. You will have to wait a few weeks for us to repair and send you it back.

The price is £200

How many would jump at that and buy it?

=

I don't understand how anyone can pay out for a console and pay for games they've been looking forward to and then having their console break - having to spend a few weeks without their console and being actually happy about it and not pissed off.

I edited that post after i made it --- you wouldn't be miffed about your console breaking or you wouldn't buy the console?

It's all down to personal preference though isn't it? If they didn't tell you that and you didn't have any problems, or relatively few, then you wouldn't care and you'd think everyone else was making a big deal over nothing (I'm not saying that they are, it's a massive problem, but they've extended all warranties to three years and they're happy to replace the console until you get one that's working, so your experience will dictate what you think).

I've had three up to now, but personally, I don't mind that, because when it's developed a problem it's been replaced relatively quickly (I can live without a console for two weeks). I will admit that when the warranty runs out I probably wouldn't get another one, but I still prefer it to the PS3 purely because it's got the best games, IMO. If I paid £200 and it's been replaced three times for free, and I've got a working console each time, and I'm covered for three years for free, I see no reason to complain.

Jonney's had a bad experience but they're happy to replace the console until he gets one that works. What more does he want for nothing??!

If you want a new one as a replacement, pay £100 for an extended warranty from where you bought the console from. There's no excuse for expecting better treatment than everybody else.

I wouldnt mate.... christ this is going way too far.
It's a discussion DJ, and besides, you can fucking talk. ;) Rad and I play EG, it's not like we're raping eachother's mothers.

We're not?

Shit anyone got a towel?

:COAT:

Yeah i see where you're coming from JB. I wouldn't say the 360 has the best games BUT ... B U T that's just because i prefer the ps3 exclusive titles over the 360's. Although i cant really say the ps3 has better or the best games. i think id have to fall in the middle and say both console have awesome games.

I don't like the old argument of '360 has more games' because who in their right mind would buy a new console to play fifa 07.

I think it was gears that really turned me off the 360's exclusives though. I just don't know... that game looked amazing at first and i grabbed it on launch and played the hell out of it... but the horrible halo2 style ending, they way they showed off loads of enemy types you never actually fought and the online mode where you'd unload a full round into someone and they could fire 1 shotgun round back at instant kill you :SS

And on the ps3... well Gran Turismo has turned me off big time. It was ok at first... awesome for a while... but when i figured out it was basically for people with wheels and the speeds that say 70mph and it feels more like 15mph. Made me realize ... this is why i stopped playing GT4 ... its just not that fun!

Ive gone off on one so back on...

I was gutted every time my 360 broke and even though i could get it replaced the same day taking it to gamestation i just couldn't shake that constant nagging feeling that the console will break down any second. It ruined any time i spent playing because id be saving every 10 minutes or turning it off the second it felt a bit warm.

Theres no way i could have a console that i know might break on me especially as the warranty i had was coming to its end

damm i wasnt expecting this big of a response! some people seem to not care how many times they have to send there broken 360's back but the fact of the matter is you pay over £200+ for a machine and its ok for it to break numerous times?

i have NEVER in my whole entire life went through so much bullshit replacement of a product EVER! i have had my N95 phone replaced ONCE, a ps2 and dreamcast ONCE, my laptop ONCE and that's about it but 5/6 times? come on now you seriously need to question yourself if you think its ok to send a product that you bought x amount of times and be cool with that. it doesn't matter if it takes even days to get it sent and repaired, its the fucking principle of it all.

Dags - what ever happened with that guy asking for your details?

I never got around to replying to him. I mentioned the games as a kind of selling point so I don't want to message him that he can't have my details so then he wants £X back because he bought it under the impression it had 16 XBLA games or whatever.

No its not OK

but seeing as you get it repaired for free why care?

If it broke and you had to pay to get it fixed i could understand

Like i said, its the principle of it all mate. just because i don't have to pay for it to be repaired and rightly so doesn't mean i shouldn't care

Why care?

Because it breaks to begin with maybe? Sure it's nice that the whole service is good enough that you get a replacement quickly and for free, but its not nice that you should have to go through it all in the first place!

Surely M$ shouldn't be allowed to get away with shoddy manufacturing?

and who said its a quick replacement? 4 times i had to wait over a month, yes over a month to get a broken refurb sent back to me

I think it is wrong too - If it was me I would be going mental!

Especially if it takes over a month to get the bloody thing back. Its not just about money its about time. The time spent having to call up and send it back etc - its a pain in the arse big time!

Also in Jonney's case - it should be noted that he has had all this trouble and he should get a new one definately.

Also if it is a known problem - Which it is big time. When they collect your console they should hand over another one for you to play on in the meantime. Or give you compensation of some kind (As Jonney did get once)

Thankfully I have never had any problems with consoles breaking down (Apart from an old Ps2 - but I had it chipped and it packed in after a year)

I have had my Xbox for maybe a year now (Can't really remember) but I have had no trouble with it yet *touches wood* (The Tree kind - not the Rudey kind)

I agree with you Jonney and you have every right to be angry.

One of the main reasons i didnt get a 360, im lazy so it would take me a while to ring up and sort everything out, and the whole procedure grates me. 360 wouldnt have given the PS3 a chance if they didnt have this problem, they let Sony of big time IMO.

i rather get one of these. i bet there more reliable then the 360:LOL:

right time to place your bets on how long my 360 will last.

Emailed the guy to say I can't give him my Gamertag details as it uses a password I use on many sites, as well as storing my bank details, and he replies "hmmm "

Not sure what that's supposed to mean but no way I'm handing out my bank details!

What heading exactly? I can find where to edit my name and address etc, but nowhere to edit/remove bank details?

Edit: Nevermind, found where to edit my bank details but it seems to actually remove the details then I need to call Microsoft themselves.
