Microsoft Xbox 360

I rented out Assasins Creed this week... OMFG how boring is this game? its like do a quick 2 minute task then watch about 10 mins of Sequences... then another quick 2 minute task... then another 10 mins.... Ive played interactive DVD Games that are more fun than this shit!!

Finally played the Frontlines demo, really enjoyable, shows how a shit trailer (or uninteresting one) can really harm a game, The Darkness was like that, trailers made the game look shit to me, tried the demo and really liked it :)

Two things that pissed me off about Frontlines, no iron sights, can't pick up weapons from dead soldiers, hate both of those omissions.

Anyone wanna buy a MadCatz MC2 Steering Wheel for the 360?

Its got no box or manual but other than that its in perfect condition and less than a month old (cost 50 notes from town)

The reviews on it were very good and playing Forza, Test Drive, PGR4 and even the Burnout demo is very very good :)

Xbox Live ban updates
>> So we've gotten some interesting conclusions over the past week regarding the new 'waves' of bans over supposedly modified consoles on xbox live.

As you've all seen, Microsoft has started unbanning consoles. I've seen alot of people who were banned this past weekend, and are still banned, no matter how much yelling they do to poor customer reps. Others, who have modified firmwares ranging from 5.x to 1.4, and have never made a phone call have miraculously become unbanned!

As always with Microsoft, there is no rhyme or reason to their actions. A couple interesting things we have found...

You CAN have your console banned for having a 12v fan mod. A very trusted user of www.360patches.com got told directly from MS reps that his fan was modded on his 360 and that it violates the TOA. Any modification of hardware does indeed violate the TOA, so legally they reserve the right to ban users from live for that reason. Petty yes, but justified. A fan mod would be reasonably easy to detect, as voltage metering is something standard in all bios for the past 10 or so years.

In regards to 'bad game data' or kreon rips, SS, dmi and pfi, it appears that the reason MS might be unbanning xbox360's is because we've found evidence that strongly suggests ANY xbox360 can return bogus data. After some internal testing on a few older 360's, it seems that once a lens is near the end of its life, it can respond with all sorts of data, or lack thereof. A len's on the fritz was able to produce all sorts of odd angles that a new drive would not, aswell as tons of missing data throughout SS files (many chunks of data that read 00's instead).

So, it appears that MS is backtracking somewhat on the ban's, likely due to the reasons described above. Their infallible system has proven once again to not be perfect, and to attack innocent users. As always, we recommend that if you are a live user, to NOT modify your system, as you will eventually get banned.

Interesting. That means even those Intercoolers could possibly get you banned? I know they arent PERMANENT mods but they are still a sorta mod?

Yeah I've heard that as well, I was tempted to get one when I first got my 360 but read too much shit about them on the net, I just make sure my 360 is sat somewhere where it's open on all sides (middle shelf in my TV stand), I try to dust in there once every couple of months as well ;)

I've just tried to download the new Battlefield: Bad Company trailer (the Frostbite video, 220mb - not the little one). It's in Marketplace > New Arrivals. When I try to play it back, you can hear the sound but the screen goes black and the Xbox 360 crashes.

So I switched it off and on again, tried to play it again and it does the same thing. The screen goes black and the console crashes.

So I deleted it, redownloaded it and tried to play it again. The screen goes black and the console crashes.

Can anyone else confirm that they've uploaded a duffy version that crashes your console (it's not going well for Xbox Live lately is it)?

My 360 came back this morning sooner than expected (it's Christmas !). It took 10 days. MS changed the mother board. Does the RROD may happen again ?

And thanks again Holio for the help.

2 questions.
- how much did it cost?
- had you flashed your 360?

No problems Tuta, just glad you got it back quickly and it didnt put you off what is a decent gaming machine. Your machine could break again, but I realuy hope the new MB has sorted it out and you wont need to call them again. Otherwise, from what I understand, your machine is still guarrenteed for at least another year under the 3 year warranty against RROD. I dont know if you get a brand new 3year warranty as there is a new MB in your 360

You've got almost the same telly as me and with the Samsungs (or at least with the three or four I've seen) it does VGA brilliantly, better than component (which is blurry).

So yeah the VGA cable is the way to go. Produces a virtually identical picture to HDMI believe it or not, especially at 32" and under.
