NOOO. The unofficial ones are fucking shit, they ghost everything across the screen. I tried three different brands, I thought it was the way it was supposed to look, but then I got hold of the official one and everything was clear as a bell.

Only get the official cable.
 
I'd have thought Jeff Bell harrassing people on NeoGaf would have been up there like. It was idiot Sony executives last year, seems Microsoft didn't want to be left behind.
 
I think I may have asked this before but...Does the 360 get quite noisy if I was to watch movies on the HD-DVD drive?

I originally decided against the HD formats, but The Bourne Trilogy and Transformers are proving to be too hard to resist(!)
 
What good offline 2 player games (non co-op games) are there? I had a few mates over, and we played PES2008 and PGR4. They were fun, they enjoyed more since they don't have 360s, esp. PGR4 but I was just wondering what else is there?

No arcade games, or like Uno :p

I actually have a good reason to consider getting a PS3 now. This is fucking ridiculous.

Dashboard is not loading at all!!!

MS can fook off. I will not be renewing my membership. Sorryi dont use it alot anyway but this is a joke.
 
Aye, it has been poor recently. Really annoying now half of the dashboard is linked with Live so I can't even play Guitar Hero offline without waiting 15mins for the blades to load

For what i wanted to do i need the dashboard mate.

There no excuse really. I dont use Live for online game too much tbh as i dont like most of the people on it.

The dashboard is still not loading. For me personally it is the best service available but for the money i paid i expect it not to take a week or more to fix.

They are all on holiday ;)

Havent noticed anything in the couple of mass effect sessions ive had. Saterday being the last time i played, it connected without any problems.

I think its more annoying trying to watch videos. I love the new AVI/XVID facility and we've watched loads of films over X-Mas using the 360 - but the fact the videos will not play unless you are connected to live is crazy...

I need advice: I want to buy a game with my Xmas money. I want something I can really get my teeth into BUT I don't want a game with a complicated plot though (so Mass Effect is a no-go!). I just want something to pick-up-and-play, anyone got any ideas?

Conan, hack em up for 20 quid, very simple. Virtua Fighter is also at 20 quid in places, stunning looking fighter. Check the sales, some decent games, usually a 7 out of ten type, though VF is a 9 game I think. Battlefield can be found for about 15 quid online. Stranglehold for about 20 quid too!

Any good XBLA games that cost 400 points?

Edit: Going to add some more points and buy Carcassone, Texas Hold Em and one other, maybe Boom Boom Rocket?

Stranglehold is nice and cheap now :)
 
Xbox Live has gone tits up for me for about the 5th evening in a row. In the day its fine, but when the big influx of people come online on night it goes to shit.

Its getting irritating but I can just about handle it because Xbox Live is excellent. Any longer though and I'll start tearing my hair out

Wouldnt worry mate, I found an article that I sent to JB and MS are aware of the problem and are working on it.
 
Not good enough DJ, we're paying for this and it's not been fixed for a week. I bet we don't see compensation either.
 
Major Nelsons site has a shitload of people complaining about Live going tits up. It seems like an International problem from the locations of those posting on there
 
Nah, crapped out for me tonight too - I aint got time to waste on trying to get online when I could be gaming, so jacked the 360 in for the night.

Must have some pretty bad issues at M$ at the moment :(
 
I heard today, tis all down to the fact MS werent ready for the large number of new sign ups coming this Christmas, thus it has put alot more pressure on the servers, rumour has it that 360 Live sign up is 70% of all machines sold, the original was only ever about 50%, so MS were under prepared for this, plus each new machine going on Live probably has to DL the update from the start of December, and that sure as hell didnt roll out smoothly. I aint been on Live the last week though, so I dont know what its like.

You should try playing WoW on a patch day, or when The Burning Crusade was released. Very frustrating, although Blizzard are generally pretty good about compensating people when their servers crap out (A few hours downtime over christmas = 1 day's game time compensation for me - can't complain).

I'd love for MS to actually do something to compensate everyone
