Microsoft Xbox 360

There is also a rumour that Xbox live is going to be doubled in price soon
They can fuck right off if that's the case, i'll just get a PS3... I've been considering doing that when my Live subscription expires anyway.

SkyTV launching today...

Apparently now you DONT have to be an existing Sky Subscriber? Just need to be signed up to Sky Player on a months contract and be a Gold member.

I cannot see how this is gonna work, but looking forward to it...

And how does it work for subscribers? Does it cost more?

Think I've sorted out the pricing now...

Existing Sky Subs... Free - getting all the channels you get on your main package, but you must sign up to SkyPlayer (free).

Non Sky-Subs - have to sign up to SkyPlayer (£15 a month) and if you want Sports, its another £19 a month.

No long term contract though, month-to-month.

Managed to get it working on my 360 and its really smooth so far. Very impressed. TV Guide lags sometimes, but sure it will settle down.

i subscribe to the complete sky hd package. i have my xbox elite in the living room, and i have an older xbox in my bedroom which has a knackered dvd drive, but still works perfectly as far as connecting to live and watching movies streamed from my media center in the living room...

there must be an EASY way for me to do this without having to go through all the hassle of having to recover my gaming tag between the two different consoles EACH time i want to use live!!

anyone out there know a way around this ballsache?

On the main Dash now it says that the Sky Player is coming later today

I downloaded it earlier, I havn't looked at it yet though, no doubt it will be ridiculously expensive though if you're not already a Sky subscriber.

Ok, it's only free for Sky Multi-room customers and/or Sky Broadband and Xbox Live Gold subscribers. If you just have normal Sky package without the multiroom, it'll basically cost you a Multiroom Subscription really. If you sign up now you do get 1 month free, after that it's £9.75 per month. So for now, I aint bothering, if it actually worked like a full multiroom box then ok, but there is limited channels from what I can tell.

Sorry Rupert and Bill, but for now, I'm out.

Buy a Memory card mate and stick your Xbox Live profile on it, then when you head upstairs, pop it out of your Elite and take it with you, easiest way to move your Live Profile around. You cant copy your Live profile only move it onto the card. So stick it on the card and have it auto sign in to Live, then it wont matter which console your on. :)

EDIT:Blurg I spotted :

Sky TV Customers: Live TV for Sky TV customers with Sky Broadband Unlimited or Multiroom is free, otherwise £9.75 (€14.75) a month for a Sky Player Multiroom subscription. Non-Sky TV Customers: Sky player subscription for Non-Sky TV Customers is £15 - £41/€18-€60 a month. Your subscription will renew automatically unless you tell us otherwise. Some on-demand content is only available to Sky TV subscribers. General: Availability of content depends on your subscription. Some programmes from live Sky TV channels are unavailable to show online (see skyplayer.sky.com). To watch Sky Player on your Xbox 360 you need an Xbox Gold Live subscription. Minimum 2Mb broadband connection recommended for Sky Player. Information only applies to residential customers in UK, ROI, Channel Islands and Isle of Man. Further terms apply.

It seems pointless to me then...

If people have Sky, why would they want to watch it on their Xbox?
They obviously already have a TV with Sky, most probably the same TV they play their Xbox on, so why not just turn off the 360 and watch it from the TV as you would do normally?...

Hrm, will give this a try later. I have Sky but no multiroom, but do have the top of the line broadband package. If it's free, happy days, if they want me to pay f*ck off!

When are we going to get a Netflix-type experience! Isn't Lovefilm the same company?

Yeah I agree if your XBOX is in same room as Sky but what I will now be doing is have Sky+ in one room (where XBOX currently is), multi-room in the other and now I can move my 360 upstairs into loft, get a projector and can have another room to watch seperate TV. Having 2 kids and a missus some times causes grief when trying to get to view some TV.

Happy bloody days I say. Won't cost me anymore bucks (subscription wise) so I'm well happy with this.

Now to find a decent projector and not break the bank. Can then play Forza 3, MW2 and watch some movies and sports on a huge fook off screen.

As long as the stream is good, I'm well happy.

Yeah, I have Multiroom and a Sky+ box on the same TV as my Xbox. It will still be handy for moving it about the house at times, if there somehow becomes an issue with 3 different people wanting ot watch something on Sky... haha.

I'd be interested to check it out just for the quality of it and what not.

Seems to be down again. I can't find it on the dashboard and there's a note apologising for the delay in 'What's hot'. Sigh. Typical Microsoft...

At least windows 7 works.

Fuming! my 360 disc drive has packed in just after I downloaded the new GTA add-on.

I am in warranty with MS is it is only about 8 months old. As it is only 8 months could I go back to gamestation and get it replaced or do I have to send it back to MS?

Hoping my friend lends me his 360 while I wait..

The main appeal to me with the Sky Player is the on demand stuff, especially movies. If you have the movies package there are literally HUNDREDS of movies available, ready to stream to your Xbox at the click of a button.

Its got all the new releases like Ghost Town / Tropic Thunder / Dark Knight but then its got really old films too. A great selection and easily the best thing about the Sky player (obviously only if you have the movies package).

Take it back to Gamestation, provided you have your receipt to prove you bought it there.

Yeah always back to the retailer, if you paid on credit card a statement of the transaction is proof enough should you not have the receipt.

yeah i gotta wait for the bank to send me my statement as I used my debit card. My local gamestation tried telling me I gotta send back to MS but thy just chatting as I called two others and they said as it under 12 months I can bring it back.

Even outside 12 months you have the right to take it back but convincing them of that might take a bit of effort.

I had to send a couple of recorded delivery letters before PC World agreed to swap my 13 month old console. It's a much better approach as you get a completely new console and a new purchase date to claim on in future if necessary.

thanks for that man. If I get any problems I will use the template letter.
