Microsoft Xbox 360

Hi guys, my first 360 just RROD'd, what do I do? I've gone to the website and filled out the RROD form, printed out the label, removed my HD and faceplate, and taken pictures of it. Anything else I need to do before I ship it? How long will it take?
No that sounds fine. just ship it with only the 360, no cables, no hdd.

Call UPS to arrange a pickup at your conveniance. I had them pick mine up from my work place a year ago.

Also managed to deliver it back to me at work as well.

You can't mod a PS3. Is that enough?

You void your warranty once you open the Xbox up though, so you're buggered when it breaks down and it will eventually, coming from a man who's 'modified' an Xbox before only for it to mess up on me 4 months down the line.

@Charlievolano - You're much better picking the console you're most comfortable with, both are easy to use and the 360 is ideally suited to gaming and it has better online service (but you do have to pay for it), whereas the PS3 for me is the more all-round entertainment package (with the built-in blu ray player etc.) but is equally as good for gaming, as you say look at how incredible Uncharted will be, not to mention GT5/MAG/MGS5. Online is pretty good as well, and free. Also, the 360 controller is a lot different to the PS3 controller, some absolutely love it as it's really comfortable and ideal for FPSs and driving games etc but coming from a previous PS1/PS2 user and Pro Evo addict I can't get on with the 360 controller, which was one of the main reasons I stuck with the PS3. There's also the exclusives, MS have a lot of really decent exclusives coming out and so do Sony, but again that's personal preference.

You're spending a lot of a money on either console and it is a long-term investment so go with the one you really want ;).

Tim7, can i ask why you went for the evolution version over the A1GP version?

i'm not quite sure what the difference is, and i didn't realise there was an A1GP seat until after i'd already placed the order...

No idea what the difference is either mate, I think the A1GP is more expensive though?

EDIT: No idea what the difference is, they cost the same too.....

edit: ordered!!

my playseat arrived today!!

:BRMM:

have to say, it is easily the most fun i've had playing video games in years.

just finished a 3-hour stint on dirt 2 and my jaw was firmly on the floor for all 3 hours.

playing with a panasonic 50" g10 plasma, and it is spectacular with the wheel plumped square in front of it and using the 'bonnet' view.

bring on forza!!!

btw, for anyone interested, i found some settings from a 360 wheel review on amazon and the settings the guy suggested made a massive difference from the default settings.

only thing i changed was changing linearity to minus 5.

people using the wheel should give it a try...

go outside the caravan, to the options table, or just press start from a race...

second setting down is wheel settings (below manual/sequential gearbox option)

i knew Tim got the wrong end of the stick

MJ was talking about about the Dirt2 settings from the get go Tim :)

btw coopz, i bought an infocus IN76 projector (720p) - picked it up for £560 brand new from fleabay. retail price online is still around £1200. what hi-fi gave it product of the year for 2007...

just need a screen now mate, and i've been told that i need a 'grey' screen due to the fact i can't really control the light coming into my living room...

i'm swaying towards a 92" screen rather than a 106 incher... do you still have your pj? what size screen do you use and how far away do you sit?

sorry for going OT

Mine is just a big piece of MDF painted white (with a black border i made with other wood to make it look like a proper screen) which many people us but they tend to used to paint in a icestorm (iirc) colour which is slightly gray but now they use a US paint called Black Widow which can be made in the UK with these 2 mixed (autoair aluminium fine and s0907-y70r) which is meant to be the best with gain, whites and blacks

But as i say i just used normal white paint and it still looks stunning. Im about 10 feet away from the screen and it is now 92 inch in size

Here's some pic's of the difference and this guy is only using SD tv. If it was the summer i might have done mine in that colour but seeing as its gonna get dark at 5 soon there is no need :)
