This week's Xbox Live Arcade offering Arkanoid Live! may include a hidden charge that users must pay in order to finish the game.
Microsoft asks for 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60) for Arkanoid Live!, but Xbox.com forum members (as well as Eurogamer readers and posters on the Major Nelson blog) claim this only covers episodes one and two, and that a further 400 MSP (GBP 3.40 / EUR 4.80) is needed to unlock episodes three and four.
The "Full Game - Arkanoid Live!" listing on XBLA only mentions the initial 800 MSP charge.
We've contacted Microsoft to comment.
Arkanoid is based on the old retro game Breakout, where balls bounce off a Pong-style paddle into block patterns above. The DS version was appalling, although we've yet to tackle the XBLA attempt.
Thanks, Chris L.
Here's a wild one. We just got a tip from someone who purports to be in the know on Microsoft's efforts to beat the Wii at its own motion-sensing game, with some of the details lining up with what we were hearing last year along these lines. The word is that Microsoft is building a "sensor bar" of sorts, but instead of detecting the waggles of Wiimote-like controllers, it detects full body movement and sound, sans controllers. There are two sensors on the bar, along with a mic and a camera, and while our tipster has "no idea" how it actually works, it sounds pretty impressive. Here's a quick rundown of capabilities mentioned:
* Full body and hand gesture control of games / characters.
* In fighting games you kick, punch, duck, dive, jump and so forth with your body.
* It also picks up small hand gestures like pinching, grabbing and scrolling.
* There will also be video conferencing and games with video.
* Trivia game over the internet with live images of each person playing. When a question pops up, they can clap to buzz in.
* You can "move objects on your screen" and the other party can see what you're doing in real time.
* Sensor detects only the person playing, not folks observing on the couch.

Microsoft has unveiled Lips: Number One Hits, promising the game will be released exclusively for Xbox 360 in October.
The only changes for this sequel appear to regard the song selection, which features tracks from the likes of Rhianna and Roy Orbison. There are plenty of other areas that could have done with some attention, as our Lips review points out.
But Number One Hits will be more-or-less the same, and will work with all current Lips DLC as well as the existing microphones.
The songs revealed so far are:
* "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay
* "Disturbia" by Rihanna
* "U Can't Touch This," by MC Hammer
* "More Than Words," by Extreme
* "Apologize" by Timbaland featuring OneRepublic
* "Karma Chameleon" by Culture Club
* "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" by Marvin Gaye
* "Oh, Pretty Woman" by Roy Orbison
* "Ready, Set, Go!" by Tokio Hotel

Millions of entertainment fans will soon have the way they watch TV transformed, as Xbox 360 and Sky announce a ground-breaking partnership which will enable, for the first time ever, premium live television to be watched through a games console.
In a UK and Ireland first, Sky Player, Sky's online TV service, will come to Xbox LIVE in the autumn, allowing Xbox owners to access a range of channels and programmes to either view live or on-demand.
Details of the full channel line-up will be revealed closer to launch, but it is anticipated that Xbox LIVE users will be able to access blockbuster movies, must-see entertainment shows, thought-provoking documentaries, programming dedicated to kids, music and the arts, as well as all the excitement of Premier League football, Test Match cricket and a wide variety of other sports through Sky Sports.
The news, officially unveiled today in Central London by Sky Sports News Georgie Thompson, reveals there will be a number of viewing options.
For a new customer joining Sky through their Xbox, Sky Player will offer a wide range of live channels and on-demand content via a number of different packages. These customers will also be able to access their favourite shows on a pay-per-view basis.
Existing Sky customers who already own an Xbox will benefit from another way to view their favourite shows, in addition to their Sky set-top box and PC or Mac
There will be a range of unique interactive services available to the Xbox LIVE / Sky Player offering. For Sky Sports, for example, this will mean that live coverage will be supported by range of applications to enhance the viewing experience further. As well as fans being able to communicate with one another in real time via their broadband connections, they will also be able to check news and access fixtures, league tables and other on-demand information. Interactive applications will also be developed across other programmes genres.
Now that sounds sexiieeExisting Sky customers who already own an Xbox will benefit from another way to view their favourite shows, in addition to their Sky set-top box and PC or Mac
Unless you're a Sky subscriber already the content is unlikely to come cheap. A quick look at the price list reveals the basic Sky Player package for PC is GBP 15 per month. That gets you Sky News, Sky Sports News, the Disney Channel, Eurosport, National Geographic, MTV and Nickelodeon. It's an extra 11 quid if you want the single sports pack. Access to all of Sky's sports channels costs a total of GBP 34 per month. It's not yet clear whether you'll have to commit to similar packages and subscription fees to get the same content via Xbox 360 - or whether you'll be able to pay a one-off fee to see a single match, for example.
