Manchester United Thread

It's the big one tonight! Should be very tight, I really hope we score the away goal. I can see it being a nervy display and Roma just nicking it personally.

2-0 to roma. Although i think it could work in manu's favour if they do clearly win, strangely enough. Manu seem to be at their best when they just have to go for it and let the attacking players run riot. And their defense is fast enough to play a high tempo/pressure match at OT. Whereas if its a close score, 0-0 or 1-1, i think fergie might go for the tactical approach, and we all know manu arent very good at that. And manu havent been very good in europe this season either, with roma beating lyon thats quite an achievement.

I really hope the right Man United turns up tonight. The United that plays sweet flowing attacking football. I hope we grab a couple of away goals and finish the job off at Old Trafford. The problem is I can see us play out of sorts like we did against Lille. I think a team like AS Roma will pelt us if we play like we did against Lille in the away leg of that tie.

We should go for it. Roma aren't as good as the Italian teams from a few years back. I predict 2-1 to us.

your mistaken marulomu, they literally deystroyed ac milan on the weekend, they just couldnt find the back of the net, they are a very very good squad..

true, u're both right. roma is a strong team, sure stronger than this year milan........
talking about the ideal starting 11 roma is almost on the same level of man utd.......

but it's quite unusual to play with your ideal starting 11 and if u consider the whole team, well, roma has not good backups...... at least not as good as manchester ones.

that's the reason why man utd is a great team, while roma is almost a great team.

u'll have to score tonite, if u wanna reach the semifinals, and actually i think u will.
but, as i wrote before, roma has his moments, they can play the most beautiful football in europe, when they're in the right mood.

i'm sure this will be a hell of a match.:D

good luck guys! ;)

@ Lo zio, manu havent got good back-up either imo, oshea/fletcher/richardson for midfield?! Their 1st team is strong, but after that its nothing special.

mate, u don't have to consider how strong they are individually, but how good they play as a team....
the point is that when roma miss even just one player, their plays are effected by this..

while when o'shea and fletcher were "called" in the game, this year, they still made a good work ;)

I have a bad feeling about today. I'd honestly play ANY other team right now. Something about Roma scares me.

i guess that's the same thing roma supporters are thinking, by now :D

Scholes is out for longer than just the two legs, assuming we get through, stupid man, he'll never learn will he, and we're gonna miss his influence.

Roma are a horrible team to play, pressing all the time, diving all the time, and time after time, we have to make it hard for ourselves.

Plus we just can't seem to play in Europe

and FFS, you just knew there was gonna be a bit of trouble didn't you, Italian football is a mess

Riise is declared BANKRUPT! hahaha the ginger twat
Who's the ginger twat now? :D :lmao:

Sorry, couldn't resist. I'm the kind of football fan who wants to see all of his country's teams doing well in Europe and that includes Man U, so don't think I'm having a go at Man U.

Just El Diego. :D

Who do you support jack? Newcastle? Theyre never competing with english teams in europe anyway. Personally i want manu and chelsea out, just because it gives liverpool a better chance imo. Otherwise i support the english teams in europe when liverpool are out, well besides chelsea.

thats scholes second stupid fucking red of the year, liverpool and now roma, two huge games, he got lucky for the liverpool match, no we will see how it works out for the roma game

That's just an avatar, tikx4. I support a team in England's third league, Tranmere; but I've been to see Liverpool a few times, so if I could see any team win the Premiership\Champions League, it would be them; put it like that. But I'd be happy to see any English team win the CL.

@ matherto:

Is this true? Only have the chelsea game on tv here in NL so cant actualyl see the manu match.

2037: We're seeing pictures of the crowd scenes and it does not make for pleasant television. One fan has blood streaming down his face and is being dragged to his feet by police. The police are wading in with batons.

"United fans appeared to charge the police and the police went in. It got pretty vicious. We're about 80 yards away but it seems to have quietened down now. We've just heard a loud crash and there is smoke over there. It is very, very nasty inside this ground now. I don't know if the Roma fans started this but they are happy now as it is between the police and the United fans."
BBC Five Live commentator Alan Green

2032: It is also half-time at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea are trailing to a wonder goal from David Silva. Not a good night for our lads so far, for so many reasons.

2031: The half-time whistle has gone at the Stadio Olimpico with United 1-0 down. Even more worryingly there appears to be major trouble in the stands with police having to intervene. It seems objects were thrown from the United section and the police have gone in to sort it out.

Dont know whats going, but hate this happening at games for any team. Also it might give manu and english football a bad rep again, with manu having the problems in lille. Which was due to bad ticketing/policing wasnt it?

I'm watching the Man U game and I haven't seen any pictures of crowd clashes - but I've only been watching since the 20th minute.

it was shown near, and at half time, one fan (not sure which team), had blood all over his face from a head wound and had to be held up by two other fans, I think he was almost KO'd
