torres not going anywhere

Fergie is either a) very cunning and doing this big show to lower prices
or b) 100% convinced we can emulate the end of last year's form week in week out, with CL/FA/Carling cup competitions thrown in, with those players. And that means no injuries to Saha, Giggs or anyone else i guess. I never really thought about it, but he did do a pretty job with the squad available for those months, so I'm cutting him one more week of slack. If no signings by this time next week, I officially question him/glazers real inentions.

anyone can tell that man utd need to beef up their team... surely he cant think that the current squad can compete with chelsea, liverpool, spurs

Its becoming a joke mate. Losing faith in SAF day by day.

I'm trying to work out who is still left to potentially buy, and there aren't all that many options!
Diarra, Hargreaves, Macherano, Carrick in DMF - As fergie has said Smith will be back up front, this leads me to assume we MUST be getting in one DMF, as at the present we have 0. (O'Shea).
Riquelme, Pirlo, Reo Coker, Kevin Nolan in CMF/AMF - Don't see any of these coming our way, we have Scholes and fergie is clearly banking on him
Torres, others - We're clearly not getting another striker. Persosnally would have liked to have been linked to Dean Ashton, I think he would have offered us something different and I've always been impressed with him.

Bottom line is that with the team we had last year we still scored as many goals, took more shots than and even beat the champions once. So lets not be too pessimistic. Liverpool bought a shed load of players last year, and were utterly crap for the first half of the season while they settled. I think a team's dynamic is key, and hopefully Fergie knows somethign we don't.

The team we played last year was lacking. We may have beat chelsea once due to a abit of luckk and defending for our lives like it was a final. They showed us at stamford bridge they were a class above. We cant rely on shit like O'Shea, fletcher and a makeshift smith to do the job in midfield.
It sounds like SAF is only looking for one midfielder and that isnr enough to be honest. As i explained it would be the same situation is last season if that one midfielder got injured, plus what if he turned out to be a flop. Whats worst is it doesnt even look like we are even trying to sign anyone. Everyday one target that we've been linked with joins some club or states that they want to stay at where they are.

we're not such a big draw anymore because we obviously won't (can't) pay what the clubs and players want. Plus, the way some of the players have left or got pissed off must have an impact on potential players coming.
It looks like a bit of a mess really. At the moment we'll be fighting for 4th place maybe.

IMO a lot of your problems stem from your manager, hes past it. Should be at home pucking up his pension.

Uniteds only problem is midfield anyone can see this and maybe Ruud if he leaves but that hasnt happend yet. Its only the same as Arsenal, where not seeing them going all out to buy a CB are we, which is urgently required for the goons.

Can't believe Smith is back in training, that's a miraculous recovery time, possibly even more impressive than Ronney's given the magnitude of the injury.

Must be a really weird dynamic in training. Wonder if there's any chance Ruud is going to realise it's not so bad and get excited for the season. If the rumours of Carrick are true, he has the Beckham-esque ability to hit the strikers from his own half, which might give Ruud some incentive.

Like I said last week, wouldn't argue with Defoe and Carrick coming over. They can Silvestre. Please. Take him.

The point I am trying to make is that Fergie is an "old school manager" who rules by fear. Players these days don't like this and might be turned off working for a manager like this. How many quality players have United lost cos they fell out with Fergie? Quite a few, Stam, Beckham, more recently Keane. His managerial style is straight out of the 80's. Times have changed.

I know you will all back him to hilt (quite rightly) but even Fergie has a sell by date and IMO he is past it.

"If I were to start the season with all the players I've got available, all fit, I don't think the supporters would be disappointed - neither would I." -SAF today

EEEEEP!!!!

Fergie may be old skool, but find me another manager who could put up the points total he did last year, with a CB/LB and a LWF in the centre midfield, minus his top choice LB and OMF and a disgruntled first choice striker.

Anyo other manager that came in would have bought some players by now. Look at capello, the man wasted no time signing the players he wanted with Real Madrid. And dont give me that glazer shit, because If SAF knew who he wanted he could buy who he liked, the glazers have to back him because SAF is Manchester Utd

Mourinho.

You see through the last 3-4 season and we have sold more than we have bought. The mere thought of starting the season without no signigns is insane and shows SAF has seriously lost the plot with his lastest comments ''If I were to start the season with all the players I've got available, all fit, I don't think the supporters would be disappointed - neither would I."

Ok first off im backing up the statement I just made. Phil neville, Nicky Butt, Veron, roy keane, fortune, John obi mikel and soon to be david miller all midfielders we have sold and not even replaced. We have recieved plenty of money from most of these sales and not used a penny on new players and Mr Ferguson claims we are not desperate! We will be desperate when we are fighting for a champions league spot in 4th place next season. We surely be desperate when we are on the brink of getting knocked out in the fisrt group stage of champions league like last season when we have to rely on the likes of o'shite and darren fuckface to general the midfield.

Phil Neville, Veron, Nicky Butt, Roy Keane have all gone on to do nothing when they left united. Perhaps fergie deserves some credit for getting rid of them when he did? As for fortune, we'll see, and Obi Mikel well that clearly wasn't fergie's fault. Not sure why Liam Miller was never given a shot, but he would have been visilbe in training, I guess he didn't show enough. Never looked that sharp in the reserves IMO.

Look from Fergie's point of view, coming out and being like "We're in real trouble if we don't sign a midfielder" is the equivalent of saying "please other teams, just add £5m to your player we're interested in". I'm quite sure he's got something under control and this is all spin.

Well I hope so anyway :)

Thats not the point what they done after they left. The point is they left a massive void and up until now we have failed to replace any of those players.

No the best thing from Fergie's point of view was to keep his mouth shut until he gets some deals sorted out if he has nothing better to say instead of saying shit like a fully fit squad with no defensive midfielder would be more than ideal.
