Manchester United Thread

I dont think Mascherano speaks English from what I tried to find out about him. The guy had an excellent world cup and I would love United to sign him, now if only we can part ex Darren Fletcher to get him.

Yes I keep a list with names of the clubs Mascherano gets linked to now and then :rolleyes:.

Look just think about it logically, why would Manchester be the only club interested in him?

Sorry, I meant they DIDNT have a 30 goal a season man and yet they still won two back to back titles.
 
If Ruud leaves i either want Luca Toni or Ibrahimovic both score a lot of goals and both players play for the teams involved in the match-fixing scandal.

Well who else needs a defense midfielder just as badly as Utd? And there is no reason to be rude and sarcastic. You should learn to show some respect.

The point he was making is that chelsea are still a strong team that won trophies without a 30 goal striker, hence there is no reason why Utd should need one. I think smith should get a fair crack at the whip. The last time he was up front for Utd he was their top scorer for that short period of time.
 
I still think a Rooney/Smith partnership could work if given time. Imagine the pressure they'd put on defenders.
 
Well lets hope the deal is done once and for all. This ruud saga was getting boring.

Well thats another big loss for United. Your midfield is weak now your attack is too. Ruud for all his faults is world class striker and I cannot believe Fergie has let him go so cheaply. Maybe hes been at the brandy again. Just how are you going to replace a man who has scored 150 goals for you? With difficulty me thinks.
 
We'll be fine. Saha proved he can get goals. smith back up front should be ablt to get goals. Rossi coming through. Solskjear aswell. Rooney will get goals. We wont struggle up front. Towards the end of last season we did very well with ruud on the bench.

EXCLUSIVE: United get Carrick

Manchester United have signed Michael Carrick from Tottenham Hotspur for Stg17 million. The EXCLUSIVE news was revealed on Setanta Sports programme The Hub on Thursday evening.

Carrick is set to finalise personal terms before being unveiled to the media at Old Trafford within the next 48 hours - the press conference is likely to take place before the weekend, however.

Setanta Sports understands that Carrick will move in a straight-cash deal, with no players moving in the opposite direction. The midfielder's desire to move to United is said to have forced Martin Jol into letting one of his prize assets leave North London.

Carrick is set to pen a five-year deal at Old Trafford once his medical is completed and terms are agreed, with no hitches expected at this stage.

United agreed a fee of Stg17m with Tottenham on Thursday after tracking the midfielder for the last couple of seasons. Old Trafford boss Alex Ferguson sees Carrick, who was a member of England's World cup squad, as a replacement for Roy Keane.

The news will be a major boost for United's fans with Ruud van Nistelrooy all but completing his move to Real Madrid this week
 
I thought Liverpool got ripped-off with Pennant, it’s peanuts compared to £17M for Carrick! Why are English players over-priced, I don’t understand the logic behind it?
 
I think carrick is peanuts compare to ashley 25 or 30mil,ask chelski why? they`ll just say"cuz we can do it!"
 
carrick is a piece of sh**, they wasted the money!!... Now United sold Ruud what's the worst that could happen? (Rooney dies in car accident??)
 
If he's as good as in WE10 (my only knowledge of him), then hes good enough for United. But something tells me hes not worth that kinda money...

as much as Saha had a good run towards the end of last season, he's still shite and will never be as good as Ruud was

Smith IMO should stay in MF, he was doing well there, and I don't trust Scholes anymore, he's not an out and out striker anyway

Rossi is looking great, but he's gonna be a sub again for most of this season, still it'll be interesting, but again, he's not an out and out striker

Solskjaer is gonna be a sub (obviously), and should provide a few goals, sadly he's coming to the end of his career, at least at OT

Rooney is just awesome isn't he, but he isn't goin to get 20 goals a season, he's better playing behind a striker (the WC proved that) but when he haven't got an out and out striker for him to play behind, what the fuck are we going to do?

we're fucked for next year, there's no denying it, and with Chelsea now equipped with Shevchenko, the rest of the Prem is fucked too
 
I'm not as bothered as I was before about Ruud. Considering how world class he is, we only won one title while he was there.
Were Andy Cole or Chocky world class? Rune was right, we need players that can score, not just one. If he has an off day, we don't win. The team at the moment is okay. We have an attack with speed - Saha, skill - Rooney, Rossi and strength - Smith and also a poacher - Solskjaer. Liverpool are looking like title contenders and they have Fowler, Crouch and Bellamy... Would you swap ours for theirs?
With Carrick (give him a chance - How many of you were happy when we signed Dwight Yorke, and he turned out well) we should have a better midfield and if we can get maybe one more midfielder, we'll have no problems.
