Manchester United Thread

United have come out and said ronaldo is not for sale... good, sounds like there telling the lad to shut up and play...

he won't play again, if we don't sell him, then he'll just sit there like a waste of space, maybe not even turn up for training etc, either way, there's no chance in hell that we'll ever see him lining up in the red white and black again

I think this is a transient situation: United is so much bigger than Chelsea. Abramobitch can't last forever in the club, he'll soon get bored and everything will return to its place.

Plus, if I were a footy superstar I'd rather choose Manchester United or Liverpool FC instead of Chelsea with no doubt. Money isn't everything, especially when you're Michael Ballack or Andriy Shevchenko. I'm very surprised to see Sheva fall for the money instead of history: he's already darn rich, and has already won everything. In that situation, I'd always choose to pick a club with a lot of history, one that would keep in a high place no matter how many years pass.

There are a handful of "Big" teams in Europe, history-wise, like:

- Real Madrid
- AC Milan
- FC Liverpool
- Manchester United
- Bayern München
- Juventus
- FC Barcelona
- Ajax
- Internazionale
- SL Benfica

There are a couple more, but these are the big names that will keep big forever. They might spend some years in obscurity but will certainly return to the top level soon. That's what makes a big club. The problem is that money has become way too important nowadays, and players prefer to earn big money in a second-rate club like Chelsea rather than have the honour to wear the Manchester United, AFC Ajax or Internazionale badge on their chest.

When I'm 75 I'd want to remember that I once played in Old Trafford and wore the same shirt that Bobby Charlton, George Best, Nobby Stiles, Eric Cantona, Mark Hughes, Ryan Giggs, Roy Keane, David Beckham and Paul Scholes have wore and felt before. The money will be gone. But the memory remains.

well said, but that's not the way the footballing world is anymore, Chelsea can pretty much buy anyone they like, they can offer the most money, no footballer cares about history or anything like that, they care about winning trophies and getting more money, and the only place to be for that at the moment sadly, is Chelsea.

You're saying you'd always choose history over money and so on, but you don;t know that for sure because your not a professional footballer.

He does not want to play for us so sell him. SAF is a dickhead if he still keeps him.

Make sense, but I wouldn`t play for a boss like SAF....just look at RVN situation, that speaks for itself.People play for money and respect which Mourinho gives.Roy Testmonial game was about respect and memory which RVN can never get back. And SAF knows that,A new manager will bring everyone to ManU again

If RVN talk out like C.Ronaldo about leaving then SAF would be a hero, but RVN is class and SAF is looking bad

Edit:sorry phrase I`m referring to Gedtillo post on why?players pick chelski over manU

What are you on about beboquintero?? I cant understand shite you say mate, mind re-phrasing them? I think we will hold onto Ronaldo and let him play to show his worth. As said before,he has signed till 2010 and will be expected to honour his contract. The only way a club is signing him is by buying out his contract and it aint cheap.I am expecting Ruud to leave for Bayern in exchange with Owen Hargreaves...Fernando Torres will then take over the number 10 kit.Cheers...

..and Ronaldo has said he's fine with staying at United. Not a glowing enthusiastic comment, but if he shows up to training with a decent attitude, I'm sure he'll settle back into things.

Anyone else have high expectations for Kieran Richardson this year? I think he has everything ot play for and will be given the chance to get some games in. His crossing isn't half bad, and with a bit of consistency I think he'll mkae a pretty solid LMF...

richardson has great speed and can play inthe middle of the park, as he showed at west brom. i like his potential, he also has a good set kick

Yeah,I`ll take back what I said about Mourinho...bad example.I think Lippi might join the staff, maybe:( .W/o Ruud I think you might be in trouble,he is class

C'mon because he doesn't play them often (SWP and Duff) is a lack of respect??? Do you know you have to fight to be chosen in the team
it's not because you are x or x that you must play
best players plays and that's all!!
agree about Crespo,
about drogba mourinho has right to tell him To shut up
SaF should do the same with C.RONALDO

I also have this sneaky feeling that Marcello Lippi will join us as an understudy to the departing Sir Alex.He is a long-time good friend of the latter and is the perfect person as a replacement.Kieran Richarson will enjoy more first team oppurtunites next season for sure.He is the only direct replacement for Giggs currently and can play in multiple positions too.Young, quality, pacy,English and left-footed,there is no way we will sell him.

Just thought you should know, Gattuso said he got no contact from United, and said he wouldnt want to play in England, accepting to play for Milan even if in Serie B. He would only go to Rangers.

We are not getting anyone. The problem is no one wants to join United.

no, the problem is that due to various transfer mistakes in the past few seasons (kleberson, DJ-DJ, bellion) the club are being extremely selective in choosing players as we are no longer in a position to throw money away.

Bear in mind how we did last year with a full back and an ageing winger in CMF the squad is only a couple of players away from making a genuine challenge on chelsea and improving our last three seasons in europe.

with this post, you should have no reason for laughing at mine, trust me...

Is it me or do these players just say the same things every year before the season starts just to piss the fans off. I think it was Neville last year, the year before that was scholes.

Now its Giggs turn saying we need to get off to a good start so we dont play catch up.
http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=402973&CPID=8&clid=1&lid=2&title=Giggs+eyes+flying+start

I think is a part of their job to 'assure' the fans that everything is goin well in the training camp. Its also a ploy to divert away any negativeness. We,the real fans, however are not dumb...We practically know how are we gonna survive the season.Among the top 4 or 5 teams in the premiership,we are the only one left behind in terms of building up for next season...hell,even Pompey are busier than us in the transfer market.

We have been linked with Vieira. I think that would be the ultimate insult to arsenal if he joined us which would be great. Tonight is the verdict for the italian clubs which I hope SAF has also been waiting for, so we can get some bargains.

As for ruud, if we can get 15mil for him, then it would be a good bit of business.

1 we wont get Gattuso so I wish people would stop mentioning him. 2 Spurs wont sell Carrick so we wont get him.... and finally 3 We dont tend to buy many QUALITY players! as someone earlier stated Chelsea can just grab who they feel like and the rest of us have to fight for the 2nd best players.

If you think we are going to get the likes of Carrick or Gattuso you are living in the fantasy world. As for Van Nistelrooy I actually hope we keep him to be honest, we dont have a typical goal poacher like he is and to lose him would be pretty bad. As for Ronaldo 1 he aint a fuckin team player he tries to do it all himself, 2 he cant put a decent quality cross in to save his life and 3 he is a diving little cunt! we dont need that at our club.

1. Nobody said United are defintely going to get carrick or guttuso.
2. Ronaldo is one of United's best players and managed 10 assists last season most coming from crosses.
3 You sound like a fucking parrot.
