Manchester United Thread

I do hope you're right Metallica. The SA tour starts Friday, so if Fergie was planning on taking new signings with him, well, there you go. I'm less worried about Fergie's planning for signings and more worried about the apparent lack of desire to come to OT. When did we stop being one of the most attractive places on earth to play?

I dont think SA tour and transfers have any connection what so ever also It would depend on who United would be buying because fergie as already said that players that make the quater finals of the WC will not be apart of the tour of SA. So maybe we can look at this in a good way

Spurs haven't totally denied it, and United didn't deny the bid, but if they had landed him why are they waiting to announce it? All I can think of is that he's on holiday post WC...let's hope its that. Can our midfield work with him and Scholes in it (well with two wingers as well)? I'm not sure.

dont we have carrick comming in?

deal was done before the WC but the spurtz board have fucked us about too much, I think now we might have other options so we'll see how the spurtz lot react....

Carrick is a wimp, he is nofit replacement for Roy Keane, we need Guttuso then think about getting inferior weaklings like carrick.

we are not getting gattuso , why the hell does everyone keep bringing him up... no one can replace keano.... but carrick is a hell of alot better then scholes, smith, and fletch....

Carrick is a quality midfielder, better in his position than any of the other england MF (although thats not saying much) he is just what we need, he and gattuso would be perfect for us...

Carrick and Gattuso would be a dream centre two for United. I better not happen though!

You lot we first need a replacement for keane but what bout ronaldo and ruud who shall replace them i think for ronaldo, lennon or wright-phillips. Wright-phillips is definetly leaving chelsea and weve been strongly linked with them Lennon.

Hearings in Italy postponed till Wednesday evening.

There have been calls to pardon all parties due to the Azzuri winning the world cup, but it's still pretty much up in the air.

I think the biggest victims of this Ronaldo bullshit will be.. the Man utd fans.

There is simply no way Ronaldo can stay there and I'm not talking about the Ogre inteligent comments. I'm talking about all the pressure.

Every oposing stadium will be on him, the opponents will taunt him permanently, trying to get him off his mark and the refs will surely be biased against him on a permanent basis (specially after the diving course he took before this WC).

Manchester will loose a great promising player due to a traditional problem in England: the lack of ability in coping with plain, objective, and "should be correctly understood"... defeat.

It was different with Becks....Becks was english.....C. Ronaldo isn't!!!
the fans will never be the same as becks had more chances to prove himself in the National team......

I don't think Heinze would leave, we've just given him a years pay for doing sweet f$£k all, that's the kind of loyalty a player with class (like Garbiel) would appreciate. Unlike a certain winking turncoat.

I still think we will keep him, the boy is class and will only get better.

He did nothing wrong IMO look at what Zizou did, thats puts some perspective on it.

I agree, but Zidane was popular before he did it. Plus the England non-United fans are just going to have a field day, they didn't like him much to start with. If I believed he were strong enough to take it on the chin, play his football, stop diving and let the results do the talking, then I'd be all up for him staying. But I just worry he's not, and even though Fergie is the best man to help him get through this, there's just no coming back.

Here's to hoping I'm wrong though!!!

Well if Buffon decides to leave expect that to be to Barca.

Hargreaves is fine with me as long as we get an additional midfielder.

Heinze wont leave more chance of Ashley Cole going to madrid.

26m for Ribery, they may as well buy Ronaldo.

it doesnt mean owen hargreaves has aplayed a few good matches and the WC. he has proved time and time again for other england matches that he is s***!! Also i believe united shud do watever power they have to prise Lennon away from tottenhamm regardless of whether Ronaldo leaves or not.
I also heard a rumour that man utd had a £32m bid rejected for iker cassilas(long term target for fergie) due to the the likelyhood of gigi buffon joining cappello at madrid.
we need to buy long term replacements for giggs and scholes and if ruud leaves him aswell. anyone got any good suggestions of who fergie shud buy!

and he's proved time and time again for Bayern, that he's class, when played in the right position from the start!

yeah we are not getting anyone we havent one a BIG cup for a few years now and any big name players who want to cum to united are snapped up by chelsea!!!

I think this is a transient situation: United is so much bigger than Chelsea. Abramobitch can't last forever in the club, he'll soon get bored and everything will return to its place.

Plus, if I were a footy superstar I'd rather choose Manchester United or Liverpool FC instead of Chelsea with no doubt. Money isn't everything, especially when you're Michael Ballack or Andriy Shevchenko. I'm very surprised to see Sheva fall for the money instead of history: he's already darn rich, and has already won everything. In that situation, I'd always choose to pick a club with a lot of history, one that would keep in a high place no matter how many years pass.

There are a handful of "Big" teams in Europe, history-wise, like:

- Real Madrid
- AC Milan
- FC Liverpool
- Manchester United
- Bayern München
- Juventus
- FC Barcelona
- Ajax
- Internazionale
- SL Benfica

There are a couple more, but these are the big names that will keep big forever. They might spend some years in obscurity but will certainly return to the top level soon. That's what makes a big club. The problem is that money has become way too important nowadays, and players prefer to earn big money in a second-rate club like Chelsea rather than have the honour to wear the Manchester United, AFC Ajax or Internazionale badge on their chest.

When I'm 75 I'd want to remember that I once played in Old Trafford and wore the same shirt that Bobby Charlton, George Best, Nobby Stiles, Eric Cantona, Mark Hughes, Ryan Giggs, Roy Keane, David Beckham and Paul Scholes have wore and felt before. The money will be gone. But the memory remains.
