Manchester United Thread

I wouldnt mind R9 joining us.He always said that Old Trafford is a special stadium to him and England would definitely be a stop before he retires.Even if critiques are saying that he is fat and overrated,he will still get the job done.It is proven that he will rise to the occasion when the chips are down.If he comes,I'm sure our fitness coach(forgot the name) who was from Real Madrid will whip him into shape.

Walter Di Savio is our fitness coach. Ronaldo is pure class and he would add to any team lucky enough to get him. Also I wonder if Nike could in some way "encourage" the move along :)

We're not in a hurry to get rid of Ruud, it's just not many people come back from a blow up with Fergie - so we gotta be realistic. I would love for Van Nistelrooy to make peace and stay at OT.

Ruud gets us 20+ goals a season and is United through-and-through. He is a World-class striker who is PERFECT to put away the scraps left behind from Rooney's runs/shots at goal. We also have Rossi, Smith and Solskjaer in our ranks. Why the hell do we need another striker? Christ, all this Ronaldo bullshit makes me laugh, it's the same pre-season speculation year-in, year-out.

We need to invest in two big midfielders - one defensively minded and a maybe a player maker/winger.

With that part I agree fully. The problem with ManUtd in the last 2 years as always been lack of depth in the midfield.
A DMF and OMF/CMF would do wonders for ManUtd. I would prefer 2 great midfielders than R9, because it's not upfront where the problems are. And a winger wouldn't be bad idea, so then fergie could start thinking of C.Ronaldo as a SS, which is where, imo, C.Ronaldo shows his best.

To be honest, Ruud and Rooney are the only ones we could rely on.
If Smith was gonna go back to being a striker then I'd be over the moon cuz he would be great but we all know its not gonna happen.
Rossi is still in need of some experience and I think its about time he gets loaned out. Apparently, we were approached by many teams at the end of this season who wanted to loan Rossi but Sir Alex refused the offers. I guess it could mean he's gonna have a more important role next season but IMO, he still needs the experience by going somewhere else like how Richardson did.
And Solskjaer isnt really gonna play again for us at the level he used to and Sir Alex knows that. He's only here cuz he's probably gonna teach others and eventually become a coach at the club.

So if you take away Saha, theres definately a place for someone like Ronaldo. Providing he doesnt cost much, he'd be worth it even though that position is our 3rd priority.

I disagree about Saha - I think he is a great player to come on from the bench. Rossi is going to be a superb player and is ready for first-team football in my opinion - Arsenal play their youngsters at the highest level - why shouldn't we? We will buy a midfielder because we HAVE to. I wouldn't complain if we bought Ronaldo but he just isn't a United player in my opinion. I would prefer someone younger, fitter and less expectation on their shoulders - Ronaldo has played at more clubs than Jordan has had cocks inside her. I feel he always plays better for Brazil than his club teams.

Thats the problem. He's nothing more than that. But Sir Alex thinks its wise to play him from the start. If we sell him and use Smith up front instead of playing another striker, that would still be an improvement.

well, to be honest, all this R9 talk is really just a huge dream unless SAF reads these forums and sees our support for it...(plus, i doubt it'll cost lots since he's searching for a new club newayz....another reason why he will play harder this WC to impress)

but to be honest, if Ruud will stay (which is getting less likely by the minute), then i agree that there is no need for R9...but what if he is to go? Saha from the start?? Solskjear? Rossi?? who will play alongside Rooney and can still provide us with the strong upfront we have?? (even thouh C. Ron and Rooney sounds interesting...)

and don't get any of us wrong, we still all agree that a midfielder (at least 1...best 2), is needed to provide the midfield presence needed....we aren't looking down on that....but if we don't, a strong striker can help us score more........(dreams on...)

Whats all that fuss about the June 5th press conference? I knew it was BS just like this R9 story.I am sure everybody would want Ruud to stay and like someone said earlier,it is getting more likely now.Lets just cross our fingers shall we? Ouh we secure Ritchie Jones for another 2 years!!! Hurraaaahhhhh!! Forget Diarra or Mascherano,he's all that we need!!

lolz...first signing/extension of the summer?? LOL....what a great start!! keke

it's all BS and dreams and wishes...the great old fantasies of any fan during the summer...ah.....too bad the Schevchenko dream had to end so soon...hahahaha

Ronaldo? I'm not so sure he'd do too much in the hurly burly of the EPL. He did literally nothing in the CL tie at Highbury last season. That was against Toure and Senderos. Terry and Carvalho would have him in their back pockets.

He's at least a stone overweight and seems to have lost much of his drive. Having said that, maybe he needs a change of scene to get himself back on form. I guess if anyone could whip him into shape it would be ol' purple nose, but Ronaldo is a big player with a big ego. Is he really gonna be bullied by Fergie?

hey, isn't Nicky Butt coming back from loan?

He was sold to Newcastle, and they loaned him to Birmingham last season.
Bet he wishes he'd stayed at OT now though...

According to the beeb, Rooney should be in the England squad... what an awful picture they've used tho!! :

Hahahahaha...they could use this quote along with that pic."You lot 'ave just been punked!" Include that with his scouse slang. I'm eagerly waiting for news about Franck Ribery. He said he will make a decision on which clubs he will go to after the china game which France won 3-1.Ribery literally came on to replace Vieira and sparked them to life.

OMG LOL pup-fiction you made my day!

about transfers. the WC starts in one hour so you better wait a few weeks before any transfer news. I think the newspapers would rather talk about the WC than BS transfers.

I think this has something to do with having a fixed number of english based players rule that is soon to be implemented.Andy Johnsen for 8.5million and Carrick for 10 million? Inflation for sure.

Gotta remember tho these clubs dont have to sell.

Zokora looked good today against a classy side so maybe that will be the better option rather than paying over the odds for Carrick.

Deffo agree!

Carrick is a wimp.

Didi Zokora played very well last night against the impressive Argentinians. We were tracking him a couple of months ago but now it seems to be another fading hope.
