Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

We just dont have a shape to our team. Why cant the wingers play as wingers rather than coming in centre at every opportunity and crowding the midfield?
I just think if Keane was in the midfield last night would he have let that happened!

We won the Portuguese League, what did you win last season? Sporting fans... Gotta love'em for being so pathetic. Sporting only exists because there is a Benfica to look up to.

As for United, it's a team i've always liked so i hope they get it together. I mean, times change, football changes, coaches need to as well. And for God's sake, get a DMF.

How cocky is that line? Out of Europe and we are a bigger joke? Are you paying attention to the EPL? We are 2nd on the table, the only team giving Chelsea a run for their russian money. We may have a bad start in Europe and it has looked that we have left it too late. This kind of dissappointment will only be a splinter to our skin,a reminder to bounce back next year, believe me.Open up your mind before shooting off, gawddamnit.

What about us? We're 12 points behind them with a game in hand - if we win that game WE'LL be second!

Lol 10 years without a single title :).
1,2 months without a single win.
7 million in debt to the ex-(crook)president.

Yeah, right.. that's what we look up to? For goodness sake :D

I repeat:
kneel before the last lisbon team to win an european title.
kneel before the last lisbon and portuguese team to attend an euro final.

The last time you did either was last century, when soccer player still wore my grandpas soccer shorts lol

of course he's put his own $$$ in, what im saying is that he attached the debt £500mill (aprox) to the club as soon as he had control...

he only has a set time frame to pay the loan back, even on our most profitable we would not earn enough to pay it back in the set time, which is why we've been asking the question:

"how do you intend to pay back the loan??"

and all we have in return is silence....

and thats the worrying thing...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

This is why MAnU fans are irate. He secured the debt (half a billion) on ManUtd assets, like Leeds did awhile ago. What are a club's assets? Among other things, it includes players contracts. A bad financial situation could see a firesale of ManU players forced by lenders claiming deafault on the loans and going after the security interest (players, stadium, etc).

Further, in order to merely cover the debt, he has to increase revenues by a considerable amount over what they have historically made! That's hard enough to do, but without Champs League . . or even UEFA. . revenue dollars and exposure, it could get ugly if they dont start winning consistently in a short period of time.

That is what is so fascinating about Glazer's decision to buy ManU - that he bought a peak performing team, expecting to increase revenues. there is basically more room for error than for success. HE should have bought a Fulham or a West Ham, pumped money into it and made it into a Euro-competitor that could REALIZE new profit sources, rather than rely on more profit from usual sources.

I also think part of his thinking was that he could break the tv rights deal that the PL negotiates for the clubs, and then sell ManU rights individually around the world. Then he could make a killing. . but that didnt happen.

Correct any of this if i am wrong. .

1 Sporting didn't win the title for 18 years.
2 And still we are only 2 points behind your shitty team. But i'm happy that this fact alone makes you so happy.
3 That's never gonna happen.

Kneel? I think you're the one still living in the past, when your shitty club was founded by royalty and all that.

- Last time Sporting went this far in this competition it was 1983
- Please don't make me bring out all the number of titles both teams have won in their history because we both know that Benfica beats Sporting in everything by a mile.
- And for Fuck's sake, get a life beyond talking about Benfica.

ON TOPIC: Is there an English side that is to United what Sporting is to Benfica? By this I mean, a team that wins a whole lot less titles, and whose fans live only to criticize and be jealous of your club? Whose only joy in life is to see the opponent fail?

Thats correct. Its why the fans have been so pissed off with him in the first place. Man Utd could very easily be destroyed into pieces. And a huge influence on the outcome of this is down to how well the team performs on the pitch. And who influences the teams performance? Thats right, the manager.
I'm sure we could find someone who can turn things around for us. Sir Alex is simply living off his past success. He has done f*ck all in the past few years and I think he lost it at times which caused the departure of a lot of key players like Stam (would have saved us £30mil), Beckham and now recently, Keane.

your spot on....

he seems to think we can exploit certain makets more than we are, but I dont see how thats possible...

he has made a mistake, its not gonna be possible to raise the sort of money he needs without selling a prize asset(s)...

I know alot of people are loving this and there are problems ahead for us both financially and on the pitch..

but from a supporters point of view its gonna take this for us to get our club back, if that means us slipping down the league i'll take it!!!

tut tut...

get off the bandwagon....

from 2000 to 20005 what have we won,

have we finished outside the top three...

have we reached any cup finals..

do we qualify for the champs league every year...

Yes Fergie has made mistakes, and at times let us down can you name me a manager who hasnt??

And he has certainly made up for it, IMO he still has alot to offer and is a major factor in us having Rooney...

The time for Fergie to go is when he wants to, no sooner no later...

But thats just my opinion..

What about Arsenal? They win a major trophy once every few years and enjoy making fun of their rivals in Europe since they always flop out.

Im sure he could get 100's of millions for renaming the stadium, isnt that an asset, or raising ticket prices, yahoo, IBM and other high tech firms are in talks to be the sponsors, all of this about glazer is non-sense at the moment, he needs a few years of owning the team to actually get a good opinion on his mistakes, if he had in fact made one. The richest american sporting team is the Washington Redskins, valued at around 1 billion american, this team has the third most losses in the NFL since 1992. Losing teams do not always account for losing money... If glazer can increase the fan base, as well as win, i dont see how he cant make money, If glazer can only increase the fan base, I still dont see how he will lose money... if he fails to do neither, then yes there could be problems. But Vann Asia and America are two HUGE markets, and Manu has certainly not reached there potential there....

This is a common opinion but I believe, just like players, managers can lose their touch over time. Players become old where as managers become too predictable or too easy to counter and right now, Sir Alex isnt doing any good for the team. And lets face it, everytime you question his position, the people backing him up with comments such as "look at what he has done for us" or talk about all the trophies he has won for us. Which basically means he's living off his past success.

Maybe in another season he would have got away with this but with the whole Glazer thing and the lack of trophies, we need to change things fast cuz something is just not right.

Face it people. Fergie needs to go. Not because he's a bad manager but just for the sake of taking our team in another direction. We need to take this gamble.

Seriously, if Man Utd fans think that shit constitutes achievement then I'm lost for words.

stay cool airjoca :)

I was talking about benfica IN MAN UTD context, explaining to Man Utd fans how ridiculous and serious their club situation is, a club which I supported for many years (still remember how much I jumped in those last 2 minutes against Munchen). I really don't need to say anything else about Benfica, I'm sure Man Utd fans that know enough about present time soccer know today's benfica is a joke and a shadow from the great club it once was, not only in terms of played soccer but also in terms of serious and moral standings in terms of management.

So... it was not me talking about benfica. It was 2,3 benfica fans eager to make benfica better than it is who got spiced by my words :)

What do you call a team that is beaten out of the Uefa cup by Halmstads?

LOLOL

Is there a club in england that was once great and which fans still look at it as an "european giant" but which is the laughing stock in domestic terms? :)

Is there a club in england that gathers all the people with dental problems, legal problems and other kind of problems in a single stand? :)

Don't awnser, I know the awnser although that club is a bit northern and benfica is southern.

What do you call a team that was beaten out of UEFA CUP in the first round by Halmstads recently DESPITE BEING MANAGED BY JOSÉ MOURINHO AT THAT TIME? :D

You don't even know the history of your mighty enfique!! :D

Don't give me lessons about spanking ManUtd. We spanked them 5-1 at home in the same decade they had you guys for breakfast at da Luz with the same result. And yes, against Law, Best and Charlton. They were all there to see "poor Sporting" spank the devil with 5 goals.

Just cuz you're managed by Mourinho, it doesnt give you the right to wi all games. Thats not even a fair arguement.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

it is for benfica fans mate, they still mention mourinho being there although the bloke left the club in the exact same position as when he took them: 6th place. Benfica was the only club where he wasn't able to improve a single league position :). No more comments.
