the blaming of Glazer is how he put so much pressure onto us having to win something because of the debt we are in!
Thats no excuse. Thats like saying "We lost cuz the manager told us its a must win game".

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

yeah we were cuaght on the counter a number of times, one of the bad things about 442 but still if we had enough decent players we wouldnt have let benfica bk into the game.

We just gonna have to focus on the league, league cup and fa cup now. Hopefully SAF will sort it out i dont want him to get sack, just fix his obvious mistakes.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

well in think the problem with SAF is that he believes in certain players too much e.g. scholes, smith, fletcher.

tbh the only player i rate for Utd apart from Rooney & Sar is Ronaldo, and he was poor YET again. Not seen him play well for a while.

imo SAF has to go, when you've been manager as long as he has for a team surely it will get harder and harder to motivate a team? I dunno, but a massive shock around europe with them being knocked out.

If it was any other manager people would say he'd be getting sacked, but because we're on about SAF its more complicated. agree?

Something about Ronaldo: that finger he gave to Benfica fans today was, for me, the culmination of a lot of reasons why i think he will never be in Figo's shoes as a symbol for this country.

As a ex-Benfica supporter, I think he must give an order of excuses to the supporters of Benfica and Manchester. What a kid!

He disappointed me alot... :(

Mister Mauras, we're in 4th place but we have the reserved team to kick off "Sportem".

Don't joke me Pelintra, you were spanked by poor Sporting this season already, with the clown Peseiro in charge.

Benfica is a joke this season, which makes ManUtd even a bigger joke.

ManUtd fans must really be worried because they have reasons to be... even Cajuda Naval's would beat that reserve Benfica team tonite lol

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Lets look on the bright side shall we? Out of Europe altogether and now all we have is the local cups to fight for.Lesser games for us and more focus could be generated into winning what is left and that is the Premiership,League Cup and the FA Cup.This exit from europe may just be the catalyst needed for Sir Alex to step down.I hate to say it but we do need a new manager,a new style,a renewed spirit and belief. That is what we need to make this club great again.Nike have said that if we didnt win any silverware this season, they will pull out the plug on us.My mate working at Nike said the same thing, our new home kit is already out, without a sponsor and nothing is finalised yet.If we came up empty, they will scrap the kit and we have to look for a new kit sponsor. Its not exactly going downhill for us from here but we'll just have to keep on working hard on whats left in our hands.

How cocky is that line? Out of Europe and we are a bigger joke? Are you paying attention to the EPL? We are 2nd on the table, the only team giving Chelsea a run for their russian money. We may have a bad start in Europe and it has looked that we have left it too late. This kind of dissappointment will only be a splinter to our skin,a reminder to bounce back next year, believe me.Open up your mind before shooting off, gawddamnit.

Your entire post is a joke "Mauras", Porto-Benfica game, this season, is probably the solution for your problem: "Benfica is a joke this season, which makes ManUtd even a bigger joke."

That plus the ridiculous participation of fc porto in this year's CL makes your team a real joke. ;)

The thing is SAF is now relying on nostalgia and hope to achieve success, rather than quality and creativity which we once had in abundance, now we got hope/maybe players. The current side squander possession far too easily and there is no end product from the midfield particular from the centre because we have no proper defensive midfielder just smith who we HOPE can be a defensive mid which isnt good enough. There is no system that the players know works that they can work with on the pitch, we seem to just pass it around in hope someone comes up with the goods. The harsh truth is he has bought too many average squad players, whilst we have consistently lost out on world class performers such as Ronaldino, essian and robben.

I also admit now selling Beckham was a big stupid mistake considering the guy never wanted to leave, the same with stam aswell. Beckham last night would never have rolled over like some of the players last night, he would of fought for every battle and would have been a much better captain then G.Neville who was pants as captain last night.

So you take away 3 players and its now considered a reserve team?

We didn't had only 3 players out, we had GK (Moreira), DMF (M. Fernandes), WG (Simão), AMF (Karagounis) anf FW (Miccoli) out. Important players.
As you say it's not a reserve team we have other good players, and the starting 11 proved (in this game) that they are a "real team".

Thats the problem with Fergie, you can't cross him. He is always right. Beckham, Stam, Keane all crossed him and were forced out. Who's next?

If all three of them had been playing last night I doubt you would have lost.

Fair do's, but can I ask one thing? The guy that came on as sub no.9 (Marcotta or something?). Is he really a football player or was he just plucked from the fans in one of them play for your club lottery's? He was useless, his second touch was a tackle.

Ferguson himself? serioulsy he should of stepped down a long time ago. Now Manure are in the same situation as we were with Houllier, the board & fans need to open their eyes and not be blinded with the success of the 90's that has made practically Ferguson invicible.

The guy has disbanded that great fearful side of the 90's had a shitload of cash to spend on players to replace them but that hasn't come good.

Come january the Glazers shouldn't bother letting him waste the apparent £20m they've got in the chest, especially since there are some great managers who are obviously waiting in que for the job.

Don't tease me mate :) Giving Chelsky a fair run? Lol

You are second because SOMEONE has to be second.

ManUtd, the only team in the world without a single defensive Mid or something that resembles it! It must be the american influence.

In fact, only this ManUtd could prove to be even more pathetic than SL Benfica, a team that wen't a month and 2 weeks without winning a single game in the league and europe, having just won last weekend 1-0 with a goal ofered by the oposition, worthy of Rio Ferdinand lol

And I hate to say this because ManUTD used to be my favourite english team.. but last night.. oh my, was that a peak of ridicule.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Mauras, you're talking about MU being the bigger joke of Europe, but why you don't look at your Sporting?

Eleminated by Udinese and Halmstads (the antepenultimate one classified of Sweedish League!).

You must be kiding... :lmao:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Congrats to Benfica... With all do respect for ManUtd, I team that I like alot, but I'm glad they lost. Only because I despize fergie. (sorry ManUtd fans).

Well that said:
ManUtd is a pale image of the team they used to be. Sacking Fergie imo is the way to go. ManUtd needs 2 players for the midfield, a real CB and a world class OMF, cause ManUtd is world class they need world class players.

Oh well good luck for the FACup, the only title you might get this season.

He's name's Mantorras, he is an angolan player. Yes, I totally agree with you the sub was worthless he was supposed to hang the ball up front, but he was useless.
He was a promising player but 2-3 years ago he had an severe knee injury, since then he´s never been the same. Personally I think that he's football career is over.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

lol the amount of people waiting for this is evident by the press's coverage and comments coming from other quarters...

we we're not good enough in europe this year, its as simple as that, literally 9 times out of 10 we've pissed it, this year was that 1 out of 10 and we fluffed our lines,

we have only failed by our own standards cos no one else has qualified as consistently as us and of all the big teams only Real Madrid have not suffered this humiliation...

but regardless of this, us not winning the home games was our downfall, and last night was the proverbial nail in the coffin...

more and more United are starting to remind me of the United team I grew up with in the 80's which means at least we have the cups lol...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Being serious for a minute, for god know's how long Man Utd have been the most consistent team out of all the other English team's in the CL. The likes of Arsenal have consistently been woeful in what can only be described as piss poor groups. Granted this season they have at least been better.

Guess this one was coming.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

The group wasnt even difficult so there aint any excuses for going out in the first group stage. Usually teams would go out in the second group stage before it turned knockout. it was utter crap tbh.

btw United beat chelsea, on any night any team can beat another in the champions league, i think that has been proven every year...

Hush Pelintra...

More respect for the LAST Lisbon team to win a european trophy and the LAST lisbon and portuguese team to take part on an european final. :) The last time benfica did well in europe you should have been still sucking lolly pops mate :).

Sporting ridiculous? Yes we are, we are crumbling apart due to bad management, but we aren't the ones claiming to still be an european giant based on sucesses achieved when soccer was still played in black&white :).

So... let us be ridiculous. While being ridiculous we still do something, like reaching the UEFA final.

As for benfica I repeat: ONE MONTH AND TWO WEEKS WITHOUT A SINGLE VICTORY and suddently they win against ManUtd with the 2nd reserve team (the 1st reserve team is the main squad).. that's how ridiculous ManUtd went on this one lol.
