Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Oh well, United haven't looked up to par all CL, maybe its something like this,a bit of a kick in the ass if you will, that will force some positive changes.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

What kind of credit, best acting award or something? they didnt do anything fantastic, United just couldnt pass the ball for their lives and gave way possesion too easily.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

I'll give them a lot of credit, it was almost magical how they turned 18 minutes of injuries into 4 added minutes. Mystical!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

I'm having my laughs here in Portugal.

Queiroz/Fergunson are the BIGGEST JOKE IN INTERNACIONAL SOCCER THIS SEASON. It's simple:

1 - They built a squad even more ridiculous than Real Madrid itself, not a single Central Mid or Defensive Mid. The only one they had has just been released because he criticised Queiroz THE JOKE and that "huge" defender named RI(dicul)O(ous) Ferdinand.

2 - Fergunson came to Portugal 2 years ago showing he didn't do his homework. Once again he came to Portugal without even watching a single game of Benfica (100% sure).

3 - They just lost with their first squad agains the RESERVES of the 4th in the poor portuguese league, 6 points behind from the same Porto who wen't down in last place yesterday. I repeat.. the RESERVES :D! Simão out, M. Fernandes out, Micolli out... it's so ridiculous! :)

Fergunson a great manager? Yeah, last century. Manutd fans lost their club some time ago. If they they wanna keep loosing other things they should keep Fergunson and Queiroz...

...the Joking duo.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Have to agree with you on every point Mauras. And that hurts :(

So, where to now? The league...no way. Is the FA Cup our best chance?

Mister Mauras, we're in 4th place but we have the reserved team to kick off "Sportem".

How will United lure players in January?

To be honest, though I'm sure the press will have a field day with this, it shouldn't make that big difference in th jan window. Any players transferring wouldn't be able to play in the CL anyway, and i seriously doubt United won't qualify for Europe next year.

That said, maybe this season should now actually be used as a rebuilding year. Giggsy, sorry mate you were crap, lets let Park and Ronaldo develop. Especialyl Ronaldo, cause you were more crap, and have been for a while now. Scholsey, sorry but its time to let Rooney start learning your role. Saha and Ruud should get a run, and Rossi should have a good 20 mins each game. Silvestre, see ya later, Brown and Rio, sort it out. O'Shea, well unfortunately you're still better than Richardson, but can't we transplant your leg onto Heinze? Even with the 4 inch difference he'd still be better than you. And Smith, well, I'm not sold yet, but you are young and getting better, why not give it a try.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Yes, there's a lot of play acting, but you also see a player like Petit get kicked in the balls (by Saha i think), and get right up.

All in all, Benfica deserved it, because even without Simão, Miccoli, Manuel Fernandes and Karagounis, they still put up a great fight against United, and came away with the win...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Yeah they showed that Petit hit in slow mo...ouch!

But...he only got up cause Unitd still had the ball and he had to. It goes to show you that they could play like men, they just generally choose not to.

Credit to Benfica, I can't say they deserved to lose, though saying they deservd a win is stretching it a bit.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Why change a winning team?

Rio and Brown have been great as has Park

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

It was a great game, I loved the atmosfere of the game.

Good luck to MU in EPL.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

what was going on????? WHAT THE HECK??

sigh...how nice, we lose Vodafone, we lose UEFA CL money, we don't get to enter UEFA Cup, i'm sure Nike will pull the plug this summer, and we are still highly in debt......nice move Glazers!!! NICE MOVE!!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

OMG, i even said on PESfan when we drew against Lille, that we will not even make it for UEFA cup @ the way we play in the champions league..

Very disappointed.. :(

Glazer couldnt have changed the performance of the team.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Seriously guys, I can only see a hardass manager like Capello solving ur problems now. I gotta give credit to Fergy for all that he'd done for the club but its time for him to move to the board.

Having said that, I doubt seeing Capello coming to Old Trafford tho.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

The Vodafone thing was going to happen regardless. Nike won't pull on us, we still sell bucket loads of shirts worldwide. Glazer can't be blamed unless he stopped SAF from buying someone he wanted. Or if he keeps SAF when the shareholdres would have voted him out.
Its not the end of the world, lets hope the players take this and improve.

Certainly Benitez and Mourinho have shown that CL footie is more of athinking mans game today then it was 5 years ago. Perhaps we need a new manager, I'm not sure. We do need to improve though.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Something about Ronaldo: that finger he gave to Benfica fans today was, for me, the culmination of a lot of reasons why i think he will never be in Figo's shoes as a symbol for this country.

So you take away 3 players and its now considered a reserve team?

Lets keep it simple. They deserved it (and they did, dont deny it) and we didnt. No need to discuss this cuz we have already done so on many occasions.
And its always concluded with "Sack Fergie", "Get Ballack", etc.
Our season has been a reverse of last season. We had a strong defence, weak attack and did well in Europe. This season, we have a weak defence, strong attack and are pretty shit in Europe.
My answer? Use 4-3-3 in Europe. People might not want to see it but it works. I mean, we used 4-5-1 (which is basically 4-3-3) for years in Europe and nobody cared. Its only recently that people started to pick it out as the reason for our failures.

All we could do is buy another defender, get Heinze back, get a defensive mid and we're all set.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

did he really? That's terrible. Ronaldo has a lot of growing up to do. I fear that he's not the brightest crayon in the box, and his immaturity and lack of intelligence shines through sometimes. He really looked promising, and there's no denying his skill, but he just has to start focusing on improving, or else he'll have peaked at 17.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

SAF should have bought a defensive midfielder in the summer after we sold both djemb djemba and kleberson. Now United are having to cope until the january sell or even til end of season.

The players on display tonight just wasnt good enough for benfica and it was our best squad out except for heinze. We are paying for the mistake of not stregthening the squad with quailty players. We need a solid defender, one who doesnt shake and hesitate like silvestre or that damn oshea shit. A proper creative defensive midfielder. Someone to replace scholes and giggs because they have fallen short , scholes could just about finish the cross from neville for the first goal.

SAF has had so many chances to sort out the team but has bought stupid players or not bothered in certain areas of building like central defense, someone to really challange rio or silvestre for their place. No one in the team is really scared of losing their place no matter how shit they play.

I dont think its a case of formations becoz we been there before, we need some proper players who are hungry and confident in their ability. Yes we done alrite with 4.5.1 years bk in europe but its not 4.3.3. We played 4.3.3 for most of the cl group matches this season and looked what happened. I dont think the team is that bad, just three quality players are needed but its obviously the managers fault for letting it come down to this to realise we need proper players who can deliver.

I know what you're saying but 4-3-3 gave us a stronger defence. Something we lacked today.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

i dunno...Nike said that if we don't win anything this year, they will pull the plug! well, we still have the league and the FA Cup still....we'll see...

the blaming of Glazer is how he put so much pressure onto us having to win something because of the debt we are in!
