Sir Alex accuses Chelsea of buying to block United

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson claims Chelsea are prepared to buy players just to stop them going to Old Trafford or Arsenal.

The champions visit Old Trafford tomorrow and Ferguson has revealed that the almost unlimited funds enjoyed by his Stamford Bridge counterpart, Jose Mourinho, has forced a change in his transfer tactics - particularly in the pursuit of young players.


The two clubs have been involved in a wrangle over the promising Nigerian teenager John Obi Mikel.

And Ferguson told the Independent: 'If we're doing something we have to be really quick and decisive now before Chelsea find out about it.

'I know that they're quite happy to buy somebody just to keep them away from Arsenal and United.

'They can do that because they've got that much money.'

Very interesting that im not the only one who thinks chelsea buys players to stop them going to other clubs, very scumbag tactics.

What do you mean Alucard, can't you see Chelsea are buying Mikel so he can play in the first squad next year? Oh wait, that's not true at all. Why are they buying him again?

Well I must say, if United get a result, it'll be shocking, but here's to hoping! And they do normally show up in big games...please let scholes finally start scoring!

Buy Stilian Petrov in Jan and you'll win the league. ;) Swap Saha or Smith for Larsson too he'll score more goals.

Well I can't say I feel comfortable, but am pleased with how we've played. As everyone was saying in the lineup, United probably don't have as strong a team on the pitch, but they've shown they want it more. Which is all you can really ask at this stage. 1 more goal to the good and I think we have a chance, but at 1-0, Chelsea will most likely get at least that one back. I really hope we come out positive from the half time break, and push for 1 more, cause that's what we need.

In the 50-65th minute i think jose's masterplan at half time of slipping graham poll £10 million quid from Roman is working quite well...

Well 4-4-2 does it again! Fletcher was great today for once but Smith was immense! Dont know if he could play like that week in week out but today he was impeccable.
Chelsea were always gonna come at us but for once rather than sitting back and patiently waiting we were forcing an opening just like the good old days.

Ah you finally give fletcher some credit(only coz the fact hes on scoreline i guess) You still think he useless? Or is it only when we win you back the players?

I think he was quite strong in the first half, in the second half I think he wasnt played as well as the rest of the team, and gave away some balls in dangerous positions.

Well soon you will be singing praise following the glory when he gets hyped up sooner or later. Anway enough praise for fletcher after unjust critism of both him and smith. This result was great and it can give the team belief that we can actually chase the title again and put some much needed pressure on chelsea. We just need to fight through until our experienced members come back. Hopefully now G.Neville will be back for our next game after 2week internatinal period.

For a minute I forgot that we have Keane, Heinze, Neville, Solskjaer, Saha, etc still to come back.
If we win the game in hand, and buy atleast one player in january, we'll have quite a lot to look forward to.

the season is no where near over....it's still hard to see what will happen to the league and who will win...(i mean, i doubt Wigan will be able to stay 2nd for the rest of the season)....

but great game!!! i still have to watch the highlights before i give my comments, but what i read from the newspapers and such, great game...and nice how Smith actually thanks Keane for his comments and how that inspired the win!! (Keane is still the captain!!!! lolz)

hahaha, me not british, so won't know what that means...but then, great goal!!! i have to say, it all started with Ronaldo's great fake and then cross...and i feel that Fletcher actually wanted to pass instead of head it in...from the angle of his header and the whole motion.....but then the curve (from the cross?) curved it in...
