I wouldnt worry about Ballack staying put till the end of the season cuz it just means that we get him for free instead.

Ballack would be an awesome signing, but I still think a holding midfielder is needed. Or to put it better, a natural holding mid.

Smith had a great game against Chelsea, but a club like Utd shouldnt have to put players like Smith out of position. Hes doing ok there, but nothing compared to the standard that United have set in the past. There will never be another Keane, at least not for a long time, but it seems silly to try and fill the massive void with Smith.

Anyone heard about a big clearout in Jan/end of season? Read somewhere that Sir Alex is gonna get rid of a lot, and sign a lot too.

But if he wants to join a team thats got a chance of winning the CL, most likely they will be a team that dont want or need Ballack anyway.

I'm not too bothered anyway cuz I have a feeling that he'll become another Veron if he joined us.

no way would ballack ever be like Veron. He lives for football, is passionate constantly. He's not there to play the beautiful game like Veron was, he's there to compete and win. I think he'd fit wonderfully in at United, just can't get to optimistic about it.

Also he's not a holding midfielder, so he'd probably replace fletcher. Smith Scholes and Ballack...well it's a step in the right directino at least.

He did say before he retires. So thats atleast 3-5 years. Can we win the CL by then? I think its possible.

I rate Ballack, but do we need a 30year old MF who only wants to do well in Europe...

Rune, I rated Veron, he was a joy to watch at times and people forget we won the league and reach semi-finals of The CL (we havent been close to either since) with Veron and I feel that the year we sold him to chelsea would have been a massive year for him at OT, but it wasnt to be.

Anyway on Ballack, personally I'd rather we got an emerging talent instead of a fading one who may not even be up to life in The Prem...

I still feel Veron just wasnt used in the right way by us. His style was to lie deep in the midfield and launch his ever accurate passes but it seems as though too many times he was forced to play too close to the striker. Just makes me wonder with this new formation how we could use a veron.

Defintely i reckon veron should have stayed that season we sold him to chelsea, he think he would of been great. I dont think he played badly in the semi final against Leverkuson, i remember he actually played very well that game because he had a point to prove to his critics. Though at the time 15million was a good deal. Pitty we replaced him and becks with djemba djemba and kleberson! Djemba djemba cant even make it into the villa line up. lol what the hell was SAF thinking.

But Veron was never as good as he was before he joined us. Plus with a £30million price tag, you HAVE to be better. I mean, we got Rooney for £27million and he's a much better and younger player than Veron.

Did anyone see any of the portugal friendly? Apparently Ronaldo played amazingly well. Not sure i fthat's true, but it would be typical, why does he play poorly for us most of the time, but slap a portugese flag on hi jersey and he turns into superman...

Free role. Goes central and wings all the time. Maybe kinda like Rooney.

But when the team has Figo and Deco (they were out in the match) he plays a little more closely with the striker, but still retains is free role.

He surely has more freedom at the national side to use is abilities than at Man, cause I always see him stuck to the lines.

I could see Ronaldo playing behind Rooney and RVN with Rooney occasionally swapping with Ronaldo. Park on the left and someone on the right. To finish it off, a holding midfielder. Now that will be nice to see in the prem!

Was watchin MUTV the other day,"United In Press".Two pundits(forgot their names)were discussin about potential transfer targets for January.I gotta agree that we have to dive into the South American market is find some quality,as suggested by one of the pundits.I was shocked that we actually had a then,unknown,Ricardo Kaka,at the top of our scouting list from South America,a couple of years ago.We didnt dare to make the move but AC Milan did and they are reaping the benefits now.Kinda like back in the 90's when Cantona urged Sir Alex to take a look at this player by the name of Zidane.The gaffer didnt do anything and as they say,the rest is history.Bummer.

This always happens to us and will continue forever. And everytime I remember these incidents, it almost hurts. Why the f*ck were we so stubborn when deciding a price with PSG for Ronaldinho? I would have paid an extra £10million on top of a player of his quality.
Why did we not take Kaka seriously? Sao Paolo is a feeder club. It was only a matter of signing him up without worrying about someone else stealing him.

I never heard about United being linked to Kaka... when Milan signed him they said Chelsea wanted him when he was still 16/17, and it was only Chelsea and Milan watching him. Milan's South American scout is Leonardo, ex national team player, so he had good relations with Sao Paolo (his former club). Kaka then chose Milan's offer over Chelsea who offered more.

Leonardo also played a part in convincing Kaka from I've heard.
Fergie also wanted to get Batistuta when Fiorentina were relegated, but Bati went to Roma in the end and won the league with them. I hear that Capello told Sensi "If you give me Batistuta I will give you the league", not sure but I like to believe it though :lol: .

We WERENT linked with Kaka when we should have been. Thats the problem. Sao Paolo is a feeder club and we information about their players from scouts so if we did want Kaka, we would have had him (unless of course Kaka himself rejected us).

i wish my fav player can come to Man Utd (Ronaldo)....guess it will just be in the world of Winning Eleven...
