Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

I'd change Ronaldo's position with Rooney's. He would have a free role while Van would stay put in the box. And Rooney can enter the box kinda like Lampard, since Rooney has great kicking abilities.

Queiroz hits out at Man Utd fans

Ferguson brushes off Man Utd boos
Manchester United assistant boss Carlos Queiroz has slammed the fans who booed manager Sir Alex Ferguson off the pitch after their 2-1 defeat to Blackburn.

Queiroz said: "Against Blackburn we played 4-4-2, yet people in the crowd were shouting out for us to play 4-4-2.

"So we play what the public wanted and lose. This is why in football stupidity and imagination have no limits."

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger added: "You know I'm not Ferguson's best friend but I found the booing really appalling."

"Of course like the players we are only as a good as our last game, but what this guy has done for the club, I find it horrendous and nearly unbelievable," he said.

Ferguson bore the weight of anger as growing criticism over his team's tactics and the surprising omission of Wayne Rooney saw tempers in the stands boil over.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

I can't feel that we're getting a clean sheet tonight. Presumably both Bardsley and Richardson, not exactly an experienced pair of full backs. Plus Smithy will probably be wanting to help the goal drought, and Scholes definitely ahs some pressure on him to get forward. Hopefully we'll win 4-2 or something like that, if Ruud takes his chances. Maybe a 4-4-2?

-------------VDS--------------
---Bardsley-Rio-Sil-richardson
------------Smith-------------
---Fletcher--Scholes---Park---
------Ronaldo-----------------
-------------Ruud-------------

Then bring on Giggs halfway through, for fletch, and move park over. Crossing fingers...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

I don't even know who Bardsley is... And that fact alone makes me feel confident that Simão can walk all over him tonight...

Really looking forward to the game tonight.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

Not supporting any side here, but I think some people are underestimating Benfica. Their style is very defensive, and may be very frustrating for United playeres. Theyve got some players who are 'poachers', and can score on the odd breakaway.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

I dont know about the rest of you but I'm aware of that which is why I predicted a 1-1 draw.

So now you have 2 players supporting the striker...wait a minute, isnt that the problem with the 4-3-3 in the first place?

I think youre right but with Scholes and Ronaldo swapped around. I like it your way but I think Scholes will be supporting the striker today.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to launch a £10million deal to bring St Etienne midfielder Didier Zokora to Old Trafford. Manchester United boss Fergie is determined to land Zokora, rated as the best central midfielder playing in France. Chelsea have also been in the hunt for the Ivory Coast international, but Fergie is confident of signing the 24-year-old in the January transfer window. Zokora is similar in style to Chelsea’s Michael Essien but is priced less than half the £24m Jose Mourinho paid for the former Lyon midfielder. Fergie will enter the transfer market when the window re-opens and a pre-contract agreement to sign Zokora could be confirmed within weeks.

Is tis guy good...? Didnt' saw his preformances got no idea abt him... but the impression the article gave me was tat .. he was like damn gd men.. but do hope tat he and ballack signs for united.. tat will sounds pretty kool men....

Very defensive? Trapattoni's been gone for a few months now...

Our attack is what should worry Man Utd fans ;)

No. Ronaldo as a support striker, the point is he would roam the front of the attack. Rooney would help on the midfield. Cause I don't think Ronaldo can fit very well to the role you described.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

Very Defensive?

You'll see the best attacking team! ;)

Força Benfica!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

Shit, great lucky by Giggs in that freekick. :\

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

Great goal by Simão, but hell, Koeman practically offered the game when he took out Miccoli.

Anyway one can clearly see that Man Utd needs alot more if they plan to win something this year. Even with Rooney on I don't see them playing much better. And that defence...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

Thank you Koeman... United didn't play that much i think, but our coach made sure we didn't either... I'm so pissed off right now...

You're TOTALY RIGHT!

Next time SUBSTITUTE Beto at 98'!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

What ever happened to O'shea? he was quality a few years ago, for some reason he looks really poor for the past year. that early blunder through the legs, thats the kind of mistake i would make, not a pro footballer! I'll take the goal from Ruud, but Rio should raelly get taht on goal, he clearly closes his eyes as he goes in, should watch some footage of a certain chelsea centre back if he wants to learn how to head the ball, much as I hate to admit it. Richardson looked fantastic in that role, my man of the match. Smith and Fletchered looked lost the whole match, I'm seriously disapointed in both of them. I guess smith tidied up alright but a stupid foul led to the goal, and fletch couldn't do anything. I worry if scholes is past it, seriously. He was always a step late again, as he's been all season. I'm curioues if rooney willt ake his place, because giggs and ronaldo looked great on etiher wing. Ruud, Rooney, Ronaldo and Giggs at the front? Scary...

And why couldn't ruuds first attempt ahve gone in? Goal of the damn season material, that first touch was zidane-esque.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

hehe that ruud shot would have been a great goal indeed.

I agree with everything you said there beachryan, both richardson and bardsley played well, as well as giggs (he made a lot of difference tonight i think) and ronaldo, although ronaldo seemed far happier to let bardsley do the wide play for him and stay inside all the time, instead of doing it himself. Bardsley had a lot of joy on the right, ronaldo would have tore them apart.

Fletcher had a really bad game, he was virtually non-existant other than that great interception near the end, smith did ok but he's not the keane replacement we need.

Scholes was better tonight now that he was allowed to actually get forward, but he looked rusty and off the pace.

The defence did ok considering the host of players we have out injured in those positions, although o'shea was poor as usual =\ Another good display from VDS.

Overall not a bad performance, much better than recent games anyway, we just need to get our defenders back and a new midfield and we're set :p

And get ronaldo to actually play as a winger for once :| Does anyone else find themselves shouting at the tv for him not to shoot when you see him winding up for a shot ? I must have done it 5 or 6 times in this game >_<

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

no words to describe koeman's lack of inteligence...fucking unbelievable!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

1-1 would have been a fair result lovely free-kick by Simão, I can see him doing that in a Liverpool shirt

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

I don't totally see all this 1-1 fair result stuff. The only really solid benfica shot of the second half went in. The one vds saved was going wide. Untied hit the post twice, and dominated the last 30 minutes. Other than a beautiful free kick, and a couple long distance shots, nothing really threatened.
Unitd zipped several crosses past the goalie, who looked shaky, just needed a touch. Felt they would score, albeit eventually. Most worrying thing at the moment is the lack of ealry goals, thats what got us in trouble last season, never having the lead and the advantage that brings. A few within 20 minutes is what we really need, to give confidance and what not. Hopefully at craven cottage...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Graveson to join in Jan?

Ok match, Koeman should of done more than just standing still all night.

And Beto my god that guy was quite awful.
